i just got a call from these guys at 9:37 Eastern time,

ILLEGAL. i filed a complaint with the FTC

I receive a call from 678-937-5040 and ask me to call 1-866-637-6198 ex 6641. It is clearly a plot. We should know how to protect ourselves from financial crimes.

I received a call from these lovely people on my mobile around 8;28AM.  All he said was this is Mr Simmons and that he had a very important matter to discuss and that I callback at an toll free number.  Nothing else.  This is a deceptive and very illegal practice used by collection agencies.  They must, by law, state where they are calling from, give a callback number (which he did), and MUST repeat the "collections miranda" (I don't recall it verbatim but it goes something like "this is an attempt to collect a debt.  any information given will be used for that purpose").  NO EXCEPTIONS!  I work in Collections and know the laws governing HOW TO collect.  Yeah, I work in Collections and I have collectable debts - the irony is sickening, but I digress.  If you receive calls of this type, your best matter of recourse is to contact your state's Attorney General and report the agency.  Be specific on WHY you are reporting the agency and give as much support as possible (i.e, time of calls, what was said, etc).  Even if you know you are responsible for the debt they are calling for, you do have rights and the collectors are hoping you are ignorant of those rights.

Not illegal.  They have from 8AM to 9PM your local time ... unless you meant 9:37PM.

Both my son-in-law and myself especially have received threating phone calls from these people too.Every attempt to my arrangements to make payments is met with rude and threating comments. Also they said that looking at my finances shows that I have the ability to pay on one of my credit creds. They had a list of cards tht i never have had. So they say. Yes add me to the list.

Most rude and threating people ever First a Ms Clark for sereval days and then a Ms Lee and then again a Mr Washington. Don't these people talk to each other? They indicated that they were from Capital One Auto Finance, but they are not.

I would like to join your class action suit against this collection agency.  I, too, am being subjected to unnecessary harrassment from this people and they call me at all hours.  And I still have no idea who they really are and why they are calling.  My email address is kmort1951@yahoo.com.

Caller "MS. Harmon" has repeatedly harrassed me saying that she "works for the State of Georgia" and is trying to collect money owed from tax year 2002. She says it is all due by the end of the month (2 weeks). I explained to her that this is not the case as anything from prior to 2008 was examined from a Georgia and Federal Tax perspective by my CPA during divorce proceedings to be sure everything was clear and clean for us both at the end. Also explained that anything that was owed was paid and finailzed in our divorce settlement. I have documentation signed by the Courts from the State of Georgia stating this is final and complete along with information from the CPA. She was asking me to provide her with personal information such as bank account information and employer information. I explained to her that if she were truly an employee of the State representing taxes that she would have this information already or have access to it. I looked up the number as I was speaking to her and saw that they are a debt collector. I advised her that I have the legal documentation to back thta I do not owe anything nor does my ex husband. She requested that I give her information on my ex husband including his bank account information and his social security number. I refused. I asked her to send me something in writing (preferrably on State letterhead to prove who she is) and asked that she not contact  me again. I am following up with my CPA to see what I can do and see if there are any issues and I also advised her thta I will involve my attorney if necessary. Since that conversation she has not contacted me again.

Recvd a VM on my home number. Asked me to call back 866-637-6196, when I called this number it prompted me to leave a message. There never an off switch for scum.

I am wondering if this company is legitimate.  A member of my family received a call stating they owed back state taxes from 1989 in VA?!!  Anyway, they also provided an address of a different family member that live in Las Vegas?!!  Anyone know if this is legitimate?

What has happened in the past year?  The same number calls me and leaves long silent messages on my voice mail.

This number came up on caller-id, and I didn't answer. Immediately it came up a second time. 'Stephen Matthews' said there is a 'tax lien' against me he is attempting to collect. I asked him to put it in writing, and he said he didn't have to put it in writing. Then he hung up.

Worthless debt collection agency bugging me about a family member call them not me losers. Get a real job.

Called multiple times this week when I am not home. Sometimes leaving messages, sometimes not. Leaves messages for someone I never heard of. I have had my number for years. What takes the cake is the last message they left. It goes like this - she says Ms.So and so if you any common decency you would call me back. What [***] to leave a message on the wrong persons answering machine.
