I also received a call saying they were HSBC and to enter my account # to confirm my identity.  It's amazing that people would do that... This is a scam.

Got an automated recording call claiming to be from "Card Services" (I do have a credit card that goes through Card Services).  I pushed 9 to connect to their customer service department and when connected, I asked to be added to their "do-not-call" list.  The female responder simply said "why" to any question I asked her, including when I asked to talk to her supervisor.  Then she started to get exceedingly rude and was clearly not going to do anything that I asked her, so I got rude back and hung up.  Legitimate telemarketers do not do this kind of thing, so it seems to be a scam.  Don't bother answering to this or to 713-599-3010, which came from these people the day before.

Just got a call to my cell phone.  An animated voice said "your mastercard has been locked.  Please press 1 to speak to security" or something like that.  I hung up.  I called the number back, got a recording.  It said to be placed on the do not call list please press 1.  I hung up.

Smells like a scam, especially with so many people reporting it.  Just the call at 3:41 p.m. Local and it was as others have said.  I don't have any credit cards, but to be on the safe side, I called my credit union to report it.  I was advised to contact the police should these people call again, especially if they are asking for account numbers, etc. (I didn't bother to press 1, like everyone else I just hung up).

I want to add a note of thanks for those who have posted their encounters with this number, it validates my gut feeling.  This was a scam.

Has anyone gotten a charge on their phone bill by pressing "1"??

    Just go the same robo-call.

Just for laughs I pressed "9" and got an operator.

They said, "how can I help you?" and I said "which credit card company do you represent?"

and they hung up.   I am not sure what their scam is, but they didn't bother to give me the pitch.

I added their number to my call blocking.  Free service of AT&T.

Been getting calls from a "out of area" number touting :energy savings" - they talk so fast you can barely understand them, and when you ask for the name and address of the company or their name, they just keep taking.  Weird - how do you sell people on this?

RE: Slamming your long distance service, routing calls through your long distance - check www.snopes.com on this,as I think that is outdated.  There are ways you can call a company phone line, get someone to hit the switchook or dial a number and then transfer the incoming call to an outside line, but it is not a risk for most homeowners.

Received call from this number 7/1/11.  Recording claimed to be MasterCard informing me that my account had been frozen.  Instructed me to "Press 1" to get my account reactivated.  Message was SCAM.  I hung up.  Beware of this number.  I never gave any of my credit cards the number of the line where I received this call.  This robot call was some type of scam.

PHISHING CALL!! DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR INFO.

Said they were Mastercard, "sorry to inform me my card had been locked, press 1". I entered a random 16 digits for a card number, made up an expiration date, and fake pin number. It stated it have verified my information in their system and my new card was activated.
