My boyfriend called me from this number this morning and he was at a payphone in South Carolina.  When I tried to call the number back it said this number is not in Service.  It was the weirdest thing.

I received a call from this number today (9/23/08) at 3:04 PM.  I did not answer it since I didn't recognize the number.  My soon to be ex-husband likes to call me from pay phones so I decided to "Google" this number.  Glad I did.

Got a call from this number today.  Caller told me in broken english (Heavy spanish accent) that a couple of my employees (Who are also Hispanic) were stealing from job-site, but wouldn't identify himself.  He did know their names and the name of the job-site.  I am assuming that he was using payphone/calling card.  Call disconnected after a few minutes while I was in mid-sentence, and a call back said number was not in service.  Probabaly a rotating number for calling cards that a lot of the Spanish immigrants use.

the phone number 702-444-4939 is whats known as a (false) (ani) Auto number Identification. When a call is placed from a calling card, payphone or some (voip's) Voice over-ip ( internet calls) The number can be displayed. There are thousands of numbers like this one and anyone in the telecom business will attest to this. These are outgoing numbers only. It is very possible that the number could be used in all the ways described above. and that it could be used in calls that terminate from all over the country.

The question is why would someone want to make crank calls. The people making these calls can be traced. It would first involve a few easy steps and then the final two steps would require a supena or warrant being served on the telecom provider. After all that, you might find out that the call came from a payphone. Then you could pull any surveillance video in the area and try to get a picture, but in the end result, what is the crime?
I'm afraid it not a crime that gets any attention by law enforcement.
The best thing to do (is not) accept any charges for collect calls, and to check your phone bill the next couple of billing cycles to make sure that you did not get charged for the call.

In the future, every call will have an electronic high frequency (esn) electronic serial number that you can not hear with a human ear but the switching equipment at the telecoms will transmit this over every telephone call. Law enforment will be able to put a decoder on your phone and instantly know where the call in being placed from no matter how many switches or re-routing equipment is used.

We are about 15 years away from this. Trust me I know.

    Good luck.

My daughter just called from this number and Las Vegas showed up
in the caller id.  She is in fact in San Francisco and was on a
pay phone. I tried to call it back and it gave me one of those
weird phone sounds, with "the number you have reached is not
    in service..."

I was called on aug 10 at 12 midnight. The caller said he was looking for me by name and that we had met some 10 years ago--I do remember meeting someone 10 years ago but he was a sex addict in treatment and was a dentist in greensboro nc. I met him in a clinical setting and that was that. I suppose that he has some wierd calling card and is in desperate circumstances.

Someone called me from this number tonight at 8:30 pm which is late for a telemarketer.   It's probably from this guy that has been stalking me.  He probably bought a calling card at the local gas station. I could see him doing something like that.   I called the number back and got a message saying the number is out of service.  Figures!!!!!

Well this # is also coming from the rest stop on I95 in Darien Connecticut.  Some old [***] keeps calling me from it, I think I met him at a [***] bar a whiles back.  He just wants to talk and talk behind the wife's back I guess.  Well that is one way to call people if you're an old perv who sneaks peeks at public rest stop restrooms.

I just recieved phone calles from this number. I didn't answer because i don't answer phone numbers with no names. I was called 4 times in a row. Now that i have read these notes I'm worried that someone really needed my help and i didn't answer.  I am really sure this is a internation pay phone that is set up in several states if not all of them.  I plan to call the phone company here in rockwall, tx. and see if they know anything. I'll get back to you if they have any info on this number.
