I find some of the remarks posted about these ‘faux telemarketer calls’ amusing.  I put together a software program that has logged over 380 of these annoyance calls since 2012.  Those of you that let the calls roll to your answering machine, voicemail or worse yet answered the call you have just ensured you will get another of these calls.  Maybe not from the same number, but they’ve just identified your number as valid and passed it on.  Most of the initial calls originate from software (aka; ‘robocalls’) – once your number is identified as active, then a person may be there on the follow up calls.  If you have the capability to ‘block’ the number that called – that is the best action.  If you don’t have a blocking option, keep a phone with caller ID close by and simply hit ‘talk’ and ‘off’ simultaneously.  If you really want to block them – there is reasonably priced software that a layman can install.  Of the 380 calls I’ve blocked, only 16 have been in the last 6 months.  So the message is simple – blocking works….
PS:  I think Call Notes should add a 'Call Type' for 'Spoof' or 'Scammer Calls'!

Do not call means nothing to them
Recorded message (which is supposed to be illegal in VA but evidently doesn't mean much) saying they responding to my call about information on a back brace.  I did not request any information about a back brace.  It seems to be someone trying to steal money.  I am also on the Do Not Call list but still get these type of calls.
Between the "Do Not Call law" & the VA law one would think these people could be shut down!

I had contacted the FCC about these calls.  They said to  NEVER push any key to be taken off their list.  That just lets them know they have reached an active number.  Just a little heads up for next time.
One would think w/all the information that is collected on people that the government could shut these people down.

Robo call. "This call is in response your request to provide you with information regarding the [brand name] Back Brace you saw on TV. Press 1 to get more information. Press 2 to discontinue future calls."   No one at my number requested any such information. Advice: Don't ever press a number they ask you to. When you do that, you are confirming your phone number is active and there is a real person on your end of the phone. Just hang up!  And... NEVER CALL BACK a number you are unfamiliar with just to see who it was. They have caller ID--> now they know your name and number. Even if they never call you back, these companies sell call lists to other companies.

Same idiot jack*** called me indicating they were returning my call about ordering a back brace that I had seen on TV. Asked him if his organization had a website and he told me no. I told him no one called his organization about ordering a back brace which he already knew was a lie the minute it came out of his mouth and that this was just another annoying unsolicited telemarketing call/scam!! He continued to try and talk over me and we had some choice words which are unprintable. I told him I was going to report him and his organization to the state attorney general's office and also that he was going straight to hell for trying to scam people.

That is because the FCC is full of a bunch of people that are trying to get the $1M dollar jobs after they max out their Fed Pensions.

The excrement  within the FCC could fix this in 10 minutes.. but they are too busy making sure they don't piss of the Congress or some Executive donor.  I pump my cesspool once a year... why can't we do it with the federal government employees.

The FCC is just another bunch of VA, IRS and other people that basically milk the system to max their own position.  So much for "Public Service."
