- kamThis company solicited money from me after 9/11. They stopped calling me for several years, but for the last six months or so they call at least twice daily. The majority of the calls are hang-up calls (I hear a click right after I pick up). When there is someone there, it is always an "official " sounding non-profit, with the word police or federation or similiar term. I have gotten nasty with them. This morning it was the American Police Federation. When I said, "I have told you guys repeatedly not to call me," he says, "Oh, I didn't know." I know this won't stop them. The 800 number in the previous post sounds official, so I'm sure it's not this company. I want this to stop!!!!

THIS IS A SCAM CHARITY!!!!!!!! THIS IS A SCAM CHARITY!!!!!!!
I cut them off saying I am on DO NOT CALL REGISTERY, they try to talk
me into donating anyway.
I have a new home number and they were calling it within 3 days of me getting
the number, but the number is now registered DO NOT CALL, and weeks later
and numerous times of verbally telling them DO NOT CALL, the calls continues
I have checked with local police dept - THIS IS NOT AN ORGANIZATION
THAT THEY ARE ASSOCIATED WITH.

- EUAnnoying calls at least twice a day - never leaves messages, don't even waits, most times, for the machine to switch on. I answered once intending to tell them to stop this nonsense but there was no one there. The calls started after I donated to a few Animal Rescues. If this is for children though, as it appears to be from other posts, they are wasting their time - I donate only to save dogs.

- BRMM70Received a call- he said he was from the Virginia State Police Association, wanted the owner's name. Became aggressive when I would not give him the owner's name I asked for a number to call back on, and he replied "nothing". He was VERY RUDE! I said, "you are asking for donations and you have this attitude?" He told me I was wasting his time.

- anonymous replies to Ashley*Never* give donations to a stranger who calls you. Might be a scammer. Might be a legit independent fund raiser who keeps 90% for themselves and sends 10% to the charity. Best to find what charity they are collecting for, research the charity to make sure it's legit, get charity contact info from an independent source, then donate *directly* to the charity so they will get 100% of your donation.
- laundresskeep calling no message, even on Sundays and in VA there is a law against that.

- TonyGot a call from the Va. FOP looking for donations. Told the tool who called me I'm an active member of FOP and I wasn't aware that we solicited donations over the phone, asked him what lodge # he was associated , little [***] hung up on me. Will foward info in next members meeting.

- Mary AnnThis comes straight from the VA STATE POLICE website. Check your info before bad mouthing these organizations. There are many organizations that Virginia State Police personnel may belong to, if they choose. Those who are members pay dues. These associations are fraternal/professional organizations and could be compared to the associations that nurses and teachers belong to in their respective professions. Organizationally, these associations are not a part of the Virginia Department of State Police. They are separate entities that are not a part of state government.
The following are a few organizations that do solicit and may use State Police in their solicitations:... the Virginia State Police Association (VSPA)...
If contacted by a charity or organization soliciting a donation, you can research the charity/organization through the Virginia Office of Consumer Affairs online at http://www.vdacs.virginia.gov/consumers/ or by calling toll-free (800) 552-0063 or (804) 786-2042.

- Suz from SpgfldCaller doesn't answer. I hang up. Annoying.
- Caller: Unknown
- Suz from SpgfldAh. I did a callback. It's VA State Police. We usually try to support law enforcement but ONLY if they send info through the mail. I never give out my credit info by phone any longer. If they need the donation more than a 42 cent stamp, then they'll mail the info.

- IowegianI answered the phone call in a "stern" voice (unknown callers get this greeting from me) and no one spoke on the other end. Probably someone running a scam.
- JenCalls & asks for the owner of my company (it's our business line). I politely said he doesn't work at this location and while I was asking if I could take a message he spoke over me & said sarcastically - Of course not! And hung up. If this is someone calling for donations it's a crappy way to do it.
- RachelI was called from this number and even though I'm in a completely different area of the country the Caller ID said LOCAL CALL and showed this number. Caller ID spoofing is clearly being used as a means of tricking the target to answer the call. They must be up to no good.

- IDontPickup| 1 replygot called twice from this number in a matter of minutes. just got my home phone cut on a week ago and have never given out my phone number to anyone. i got called by this number 703-539-5978 the first time asking for Mrs. Johnson, i assumed they were referring to my mom, and i told the lady she wasnt home. then she asked for Mr. Johnson ... this started making alarms go off in my head because there is no "Mr. Johnson" and never has been. i told her there is no Mr Johnson here and she hung up. about an hour later from the same number i get another call asking for my mom but this time it was a man. so i asked why do u keep calling here? what company is this? and he said Virginia State Troopers Association. he began to start doing his spiel but i cut him off because i didnt want to hear it.
never gave my phone number out and i STILL get spam calls. so annoying. even when my phone number was unlisted i still got solicited calls.- Caller: Virginia State Troopers Association

- jackwadThe phone calls in, no reply, no re-dials -how do I cancel and report their fraud?
- spammerslammerThis is yet another telemarketer/solicitor boiler room operation disguised as a residential number. These bozos are the scum of the earth. This particular time, I did pick up and said hello. Some dude said hello after that while in the background the voices of a lot of other callers could be heard. I immediately said good bye and hung up on him. Bunch of jerks.
