Another scammer. Blocked it. It's pretty depressing to see how many "businesses" are crooked to the core. What kind of dolt would it take to try to do business with these people?

Called yesterday afternoon.  Purposely answered, to see what they would say and how they handle the call.

It was a male with an Indian accent who talked very fast and went right to the "We're calling to verify your listing is accurate.  Do you want to update your listing on Google?"  I asked, "Are you with Google, the company?"  He said, "Yes."

Of course, I said, "Sir.  One, I am in-charge of the account and perform all updates.  Two, your caller ID is clearly forged since it says, 'Online Update' and not 'Google.'  I'm sure Google isn't in the habit of falsifying their own called ID, so we now identify you as a scammer."

He said, "No no.  We're Google.  We'd get in a lot of trouble for scamming.  We will not call you again."

This made me laugh a little, but it is certainly NOT Google and IS a scam.

Received the same call just moments ago... Luckily I have a receptionist screen all my calls, so I didn't have to bother with it. Just thought I would report it anyways :)

This is the third day now that we have received calls from this number. When I answer, no one responds.

I called the number back and it told me to press 9 if I wanted to be taken off their list.

2nd call in two days.

GOOGLE needs to be more involved with their telemarketers.

Do not call my number ever again

Called on Jan 23, 2015..no message left.  Caller ID:  Online Update.  Will block this #.

We got a call from them on Friday 1/23/15. We just hang up on these -- or as in this case, not answer at all since by the Caller ID we know we don't want to deal with them. Then we block.

By the way, the Do Not Call registry only applies to residential numbers. There is no such registry to have your BUSINESS phone listed as a do not call. Not that any phone stalker pays attention the registry anyway, but at least it's there if somebody really wanted to pursue it. But as a business these jerks can call you as often as they want, without impunity - and they know it. I've said before, there must be thousands and thousands of man hours lost every year to these idiots. Criminal!

And another aside -------> the "Call Type" list should have a Scammer category. :)

These calls are from a collection company called United Recovery Group. Sometimes they put URG on the ID.

I have friends with the 707 area code, so I picked up the phone.

Recorded message. I hung up and blocked this number.

Interesting, lastyear it was a Google scam, this year the same number is connected to a CID "Clean Energy"  scammers who left VM looking for people to "press 1 if your energy bill is over $150/month". Now Bloced with all the rest!!'

Get tunnel vision much? Google is not generating the fake SEO calls, and even "real" SEO conflicts with its algorithms and business model.

Called up and left no message. Caller ID states 'ONLINE UPDATE'.
