What a scammer this junk debt collector appears to me to be!  Getting ready to file suit against them in federal court.  My attorney is dan edleman, and his website is http://edcombs.Com  if you can, record their call and then contact dan.  He is the very best!

called asking for my wife using her maiden name. refused to discuss with me only going to take her to court. i told them to send something in writing so we could see what they were talking about and they agreed. i am sure if they do send anything it will be a demand letter not a proper debt validation letter.

follow up on my previous post i guessed right they sent a demand letter not a debt validation letter as required by law. we sent them a response to send a proper debt validation letter. we will probably never hear from them again, because they cannot produce something that doesn't exist.

This is what they are required bylaw to send.  Not discussing the debt with you was hogwash since you are married.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Now hopefully you sent that letter certified, return receipt so that you can prove they received it.

Was just called by someone identifying as with a law firm that is going to enter a judgment against me for garnishment of wages and wanted to verify my ss#.  Told her nope - if they have something they need to contact me about they should mail the information and I will forward to my attorney.  She wanted to email me the info - nope again, US mail only.  Gave me some crap about Friday being their cut-off and the info probably won't make it to me in time (well, duh).  She wanted the name of my attorney and she would contact them direct - again, nope.  These people are disgusting!!
