- JennaJust received call from this number, I answered and a man said he was calling for the Texas State Troopers, and wanted to play a recorded message soliciting donations. I told him it was a cell phone and on Do Not Call, and that I didn't appreciate him bothering me. He apologized and said he would add my number to "their" Do Not Call list. I blocked the number anyway.
- Caller: Supposedly Texas State Troopers
- Call type: Telemarketer

- HATETELEMARKETERSCalled my cell today. No message left. THIS IS A SCAM!! DPS does not solicit donations!!! Please go to the following link for a statement & cautionary warning from Texas DPS about these scumbags! http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/solicitations/
- JennyCalled my cell and did not leave a voicemail.
- Mytexas1 replies to JustinCase| 3 repliesThey are all actually covered by it also. They just don't care. Newest scam I've learned about, by being burned, is called "spoofing caller ID numbers". I never felt so violated in my life! These underhanded companies are now breaking the law by using these new horrible apps or online companies that change the number these scammers are calling from by manipulating the caller ID you see on your phone ID. I monitor all 800's and others I don't know. I had a local number come in on my phone and it was not the number on my caller ID. The caller eventually told me he was in Florida, while I'm in San Antonio, TX!! I called the number back that was on my ID and it was a local residents number who had not used his phone for days.. It's only legal-so far, like for entertainment purposes. Not for trying to scam people out of their money.. Be careful of all unknown numbers now. Scum-bags have no limits or morals. I'm still thinking of reporting this to the proper government agency..
- HATETELEMARKETERS replies to Mytexas1| 1 replyBack some time ago when I still had a land line, I had a call come in & caller ID gave MY NAME!! Surprised me so, I damn near picked it up! These scum bag scammers will do anything to fleece unsuspecting victims.
- Mytexas1I left a explanation above replying to Justincase about how these scammer companies are using "spoofing apps and online spoofing companies", to change their caller ID numbers to anything they want you to see, and answer your phone so they can nail you! It's totally illegal for their reasons..., and should be totally illegal in any case. Another thing murderers, thieves, criminals can do and use against the innocent unsuspecting citizens already vulnerable to all the visual crime coming into our country... We need the old fashioned but hard honest strength in government, our country has not had in many decades.. Only by voting out the deadbeat crappy politicians so many people unknowingly vote into office because of ignorance of our system, facts, the person running, etc, and voting in real Americans working for the real hard working, tax-paying, literate, Americans, who care about this country and the mess the last 65 years has done of mistakes-bad judgement, low morals, drugs, ease on crime, illiteracy, lazy parents, welfare reform, handout reform, etc.. Will any of this crap we put up with in our home and rights to privacy stop.... Thanks.. Think before you voted. Spread the word, especially if you are young..
- Caller: Some police donations
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Mytexas1 replies to HATETELEMARKETERSAmen to your response! The worst part when I did accidentally answer to these scammers who kept calling, I feel using different numbers prior to finally "spoofing" my ID, is they lied to me about who they were and what they were actually all about! This is a cell phone too! Nothing is sacred anymore..
- JustinCase replies to Mytexas1Now you've found out one reason why it's unwise to return calls to mystery numbers along with the power of spoofing IDs. Given time, even local numbers will become unsafe to answer. Do not be surprised by ANYTHING these clowns do, say, or being ridiculous enough to use their real number. The easiest way to combat it is by not answering unknown numbers in any way. Callers are doing enough homework to better their chances at getting a bite by using local numbers.
