Numerous calls per day; all hours of the day and night.  Calls have been received after 10:00 PM.  I have never answered the call because we do not answer 'anonymous' calls.  No voice message is ever left on the answering machine; they hang up before the end of the greeting message.

This is a number that appears on your caller ID when an inmate is attempting to make a collect call to you.  I know specifically that this particular number appears on the caller ID from inmates at the Berrien County Jail in Michigan.  I don't know if it would appear from an inmate of any other jail or prison.

Given the area code, the caller is from Houston.  More than likely a Houston prison.  He tells you he is from a nearby prison to gain your trust.  He is attempting what is called the *72 Scam.  He gives you a sob story about accidently calling your number by mistake when he was trying to call his loved one to tell them he is in prison by mistake and needs their help.  He gives you a phone number that starts with *72 or 72# depending on your local phone company and then his own pay phone number.  When you call his "loved one" who doesn't answer, you are actually transfering your home phone access to him.  He is then free to run up your phone bill by accepting collect phone calls to him by his friends from anywhere in the world.  Go to Google and enter "Scam 72" to get the full story.

This number shows when a girl I know was calling from Miami Detention Center for a DUI.  I had to bail her out.

I keep receving calls from this number stating its " Maria" from Dade County Correctional.  I don't know anyone in jail in Florida
