This is a TX law firm who specialized in debt collections past the statute of limitations.  I think the first named partner is Gilman or Gildman.

I received a message from this number telling me to contact "Gamble, Krause and Associates" at 1-800-481-5150 about a pending legal matter involving a returned item from my bank. Funny that my bank knows nothing about this. I'm also amused that I was told to reference "File number ...," and that the caller obviously hung up before providing that number.

Off to file a complaint with the Texas Attorney General ...

Got a call from this number stating i owe my bank???NO I DO NOT OWE A THING TO MY BANK.

I received a very thorough response from the Texas Attorney General's office. The representative who e-mailed me suggested that I file a complaint with its Consumer Protection Division at www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/consumer. He also recommended contacting the Fair Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov) and the American Collectors Association of Texas (www.texascollectors.com).

According to the e-mail, the Consumer Protection Division has a debt collection brochure at www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/consumer/debt_collection.shtml. It also has information about outdated and nonexistent debts at www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/agency/weeklyag/2004/0904debt.pdf.

Looks like I have more e-mails to write.

Said an item was returned from my bank. Nope. Keep fishing folks.
