- TutuCaller claims to be from IRS, leaves message saying IRS is suing, and this call-back number. It is a scam call.
Couple of subtle points to listen for which will easily tell you that the caller isn't from the IRS.
1. They refer to the IRS as "Internal Revenue Services". The correct name is "Internal Revenue Service".
2. They say "The reason of this call" which is incorrect English grammar.
Since calls like this are so common, invading the privacy of hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of Americans, you'd think or law enforcement agencies -- their salaries derived from the taxes of these same American citizens -- would take action to prevent it. After all, it's possible to talk to the scammers, so it should be possible to trace who they are, or at least their location. Since no action from law enforcement seems forthcoming, apparently this is such a low priority for them that they just don't care. - CWG40 replies to Maria KThe callers are located in India and Pakistan and as such beyond the reach of US law. Call blocker is your best bet.
- CWG40 replies to WhyMost likely they purchased your information from someone. Or, they can simply program a computer to call a series of numbers in a certain area code and spoof any number they want.
- DonnaThis number has left two messages saying the IRS has a Law suit against me. I never returned the call.
- Ann CReceived a call from a supposed IRS agent about back taxes. That a lawsuit was going to be submitted the next day and that I would need to retain a lawyer to represent me. That I needed to send a money gram immediately for almost 5000.00 dollars or a warrant was going to be put out and that I would be arrested. These bottom feeders need to be stopped !!!!!
