Called at 12:10 pm  3-9-15. no message left.

Called an old work number twice.  Second time, asked questions about my employment status with the company.

This number called to verify employment on an employee.  The name was Empire Employment Verification.  They didn't ask for anything other than whether the individual was still actively employed.

I looked around and this is what I found it looks like collections, no website... They called few times for an employee that worked years ago with us. called under few different numbers:

It is not collections. It is third party verifications of employment. They only verify if the person is active no personal or financial information.

Called my current job twice. Since i am the secretary when they asked for me i asked who they were and they told me they were retained by an attorney's office. So it is most definitely a collections call!! They called me from 716-256-1084 & 716-256-1087

Called my place of employment today and yesterday to "verify employment" without giving me their name or where they're calling from. When I tell them they need to FAX over something with a signed release, they hang up. This is a scam. I wouldn't give them any information.

Called my place of employment asking to verify employment. As I was the person they were looking to verify, I transferred the call to a manager. Manager asked for paperwork to be faxed. Have not received fax yet. Suspect scam.

I received a call from Empire Verification Services, 716-256-1084, last week under the guise of an employment verification. I told them that I'd be happy to help, but that I would need a copy of the release the person signed giving me permission to release information about him to third parties. The person I was speaking with got very annoyed with me, told me that she didn't have a signed release but she needed to verify that the information he had provided was accurate. I told her that without a signed release I couldn't help her and she hung up on me.

I received another call today and when I told the woman about last week's call, she apologized and told me that she would fax the release over. I told her that after the response I received from her colleague last week, I did not find this to be a legitimate request and that I would contact the person in question myself to verify the authenticity of their signature before I responded. Here's the thing. To the person above who claims that Empire is a legitimate verifications company, a legitimate company will have a copy of a release that the individual in question would have signed and would be able to furnish it promptly. As the Director of HR for my company, I receive dozens of these requests a year.  I have never had anyone balk at sending me a copy of the release except for Empire.  Totally sketchy.

this company called stated name gave no information corrected me as to the pronunciation of the name tried to transfer to HR came back would leave no message....

Got a call from this number and they left a message with a creepy voice saying "Hang up the phone now".

They called my PT job (1.5 hr a week for 8 month a year), which I don't even know how they know about unless they got my w2 forms. I never write my part time job on anything. I don't make enough. Its a laugh in their face. I make a whopping $150 a month with them and I'm on medical leave for a lon while. I'm just hoping that my identity hasn't been stolen once again. This will be the third time in a 12-year span. They didn't even have the decency to tell my boss who they were.

Received call from Empire Verification Services. Lady asked if someone worked here, I told her I could verify over the phone and was about to tell her that I can with a fax from them with a signature from the person they were looking for, but hung up on me. Guess she doesn't need that information that badly.

Called my work number around 9:45 am. I'm in Reception so I answered. The lady asked me if she could speak to Sally, I told her that was me and asked how I could help (as this is a normal start to some of my conversations at work), and she hung up on me.

The same lady called back around 1:15 pm. She asked me if I was Sally, again I said yes, and she said she wanted to verify my birth date. She gave me some spiel about verifying information for a third party and said that she did not have information as to why they were requesting it. I told her I was very uncomfortable with the conversation and she became frustrated and forceful, telling me something about Equifax credit reporting needing to verify that I was the correct person because names can be commonly used, etc. I said that I had not applied for any credit recently and she insisted that I verify my birth date, and sounded incredibly annoyed at my reluctance, explaining that someone could have put me down as a reference or something of that nature. I asked if she was the person who had called and hung up on me that morning, and she said that she was. I then said that I couldn't very well be the only person who was weirded out by this type of phone call, and she (very rudely) told me that most people had no problem verifying their birth date or SS number. I begrudgingly said that she had my correct birth date, and as I was attempting to say more, she hung up on me.

After reading other reports about calls from this phone number, I'm realllly sketched out by this method of information gathering. If someone wants to verify my employment, they shouldn't have a rude lady call my work and harass me.

This Lady called and wanted to know know or verify the the employment of a certain individual. since the call came from New York I thought why is some one from new York wanting to have this verified when there are locals that actually know what they are wanting to know.  So the next time they call they will be reported to the National Do Not Call Registry since all my numbers are listed there so I can report stuff like this.

Called me at work and asked if I was who they were calling for and stated my job title, then said they needed to verify employment, birthdate and SS#. When asked the purpose of the call, they said they could not answer then asked to be transferred to HR. I asked repeatedly what the purpose of the call was, he then asked to verify the birthdate, employment and SS# of a person I have never heard of. When I again asked to purpose of the call, the man on the phone became upset, started mumbling and hung up. Very strange, either a debt collector, scam, identify theft or other not professional service. I am reporting them to the New York Department of Consumerism.
