Called demanding that they need the last four of an employees SSN number, got upset when I refused to verify without speaking to the employee first.  Wouldnt say why they needed it and sent up red flags.

Called my personal extension and asked for me personally. When I said, "This is she", the caller immediately hung up. I tried to call back and got a voice mail box.

Just received a call from 716-256-1084 attempting to verify employment, hung up when we said could not verify.

716-256-1084 just called my direct work number and specifically asked for me by name, which is not odd since I work in a public position. I identified myself and they went on to ask me if I could verify employment.  I informed them that no, I could not do that but I could refer him to the correct contact person if he would let me know which department he needed. He was very vague in answering my questions and never gave me the name of the employee he wanted to verify.  I referred him to contact our Administrative Secretary.  He called her and asked her to provide him with the last four digits of MY SSN!!  She verified that I did work here, but thankfully, did not provide the last four digits of my SSN.  I just had my facebook hacked, so this makes me wonder if this is another attempt to steal my personal information.  I will be checking my credit report for suspicious activity!

They verified my employment and tried to verify my last 4 digits of my social security number ! No clue who this is but I am annoyed !

Just another group in service to the "Buffalo Bullies" of New York state.  They are interested in getting information.  Not whether or not you are employed.

Called my boss, boss called me asking what it could be and when I looked into I saw all this. Be careful! Thankfully she didn't answer and called me instead.

Just received a call from this number trying to verify if someone is employed here.  We DO NOT do verifications by phone and explain this to the representative.  I was willing to provide the rep with a fax number however she hung up on me.   This is a collection agency.  "Legitimate" businesses would have no problem faxing over the required documents.  President/Owner of company contacted business and left a voice mail to not receive anymore calls from this business.  Unprofessional and rude

A call came in today for my employer from the other number they use 716-256-1087 asking to verify employment for myself but asking for my maiden name from prior to 17 years ago with the last 4 digits of my SS#.  My employer does not give any information out unless she has permission from her employee.  Very interesting though, using a name from over 17 years ago.  Either, a scam, or identity theft.

A Nick from Empire Verification Services has called everyday for the past week to my employer to verify my employment asking for information from my old married name that I have not used in 17 years.  There is no way this is legal.  Even credit issues have a limit of 7-10 years depending on what it is.  So this is way out of the limits.  When my employer asked for a release form.  They faxed one with only their information on it, my old married name and SS#.  There is no indication as to why or for who they are verifying the information for.  The release form was sent only after Nick gave my employer attitude about asking for it.

This woman called and asked if someone worked at the business my husband runs, he doesn't have employees...
when I pushed her for more information, she got nervous and hung up.  this place is super scammy.

A guy called and asked for employee by "nickname" and then when answered just hung up on them and when you call number back it just goes to voice mail

this is definitely a debt collector - probably using social media to find people

some man under the name of Mr Miller called my job today repeatedly asking to verify my employment. The receptionist would not give him this info because of HIPAA. He was not satisfied until I answered the phone. I asked if I could help him and he said sure if you are who I am looking for. I told him it was weird and I have never heard of any company like this. He assured me that they were a reparable company and work with other companies big and small. I don't know what this is pertaining to but if they call back I will be sending the call to HR and telling them that I have pressing charges because no one should call anyone's place of employment this much and definitely note trying to verify employment over the phone. One phone call should be enough not repeated calls with little to no information for why they are calling.

Called my job and call was transferred to me from a supervisor. They asked my name i answered and then they hung up.  Anyone know anything concrete about this company...???

You could try reading the other posts.

Debt collector most likely.  Appears to be  masquerading as an employment verification service.
