The robocall has been calling my number for weeks.  Same Buffalo listing and cannot be called back..cute.  If I don't answer, it goes to my answer machine and fills  it up.
I never thought about it being from out of country but..of course!   Is there no way to put a stop to these calls.  Time Warner doesn't have call block.

Got this call for the 50th time in the past two months. When I picked up and said hello I heard "help, I've fallen and I can't get up". I have reported these people to every Government agency that I can find.  I mean that I have filed at least 15 complaints. I have even called the real First Alert and told them that these people are passing themselves off as salesmen for First Alert. I have, in no uncertain terms,  threatened these people.  I mean why would they call the same people over and over again? They must be completely brain dead or just complete morons.

Now calls every Saturday morning and says exactly the same thing: "It's John from the shipping dept of Emergency Medical Alert who's calling to sked delivery of my medical alert system." Doesn't matter whether I let it go to voicemail or pick up. In fact, even when I pick up and interrupt him and snidely say, "Well, John, I didn't order a medical alert system," he keeps talking while I'm talking, reading obnoxiously from his script.

Tom,  you are not totally correct.   In the past 2 years there have been 2 scam operators who have been operating under the "Rachael"  "Megan"  credit card services scam,  who have been prosecuted.   It takes time to locate these culprits and build a prosecutable case with sufficient evidence.  Sometimes years.
In 2012  a woman who was operating the largest credit card services scam,  her husband,  and several employees were busted.  While waiting for trial,  they took off to the phillipines where they had already started another "Rachael"  CC services call center calling back to the Fertile USA territory.   The Phillipine government expedited them back for trial.
The woman who headed up the scam got 17 1/2 years in prison,  her husband got 10 years for abeting, and each of the employees got 2 years.   Here is the kicker.  Each time the FTC/government  busts one of these scammers, there are 2 that jump up and continue the scam since it is very profitable.  The amount of time,  money and resources it takes to catch and prosecute these hidden scammers is overwhelming.  It's not the DNC that chases these people down to prosecute even though the DNC is a section of the FTC.  It is a joint effort by the FTC,  FBI and others who actually run down and arrest criminals such as these.  Many don't understand that the DNC  is simply a "List" .   It is a list of people,  collected and maintained by the FTC,  of those who have registered  in order to limit Telemarketing Sales Calls.  It does not mechanically block calls,  screen anyones calls,  or in any way limits unwanted calls to anyone.  It is just a list.  Legitimate  Telemarketers who have Registered with the FTC,  are required to purchase this list at intervals,  and abide by the requests of the people.  The honor system.   And they do.   If they violate the DNC,  they are easily found by the FTC by opening their file or the Phone book.  They are Members of the community who have local phone numbers,  addresses,  pay local,  state,  and Federal taxes,  and are anchored by all of the ethics and  proprieties required in doing a consumer based business.  Plus,  if the complaints start rolling in to the DNC registry,  they are fined 16K per violation.   The scammers and scofflaws are our enemies.  They don't care about the laws and can stay hidden overseas for years behind uncooperative governments.  The FTC is helpless for most.   I try not to dwell too much on those maggot scammers who violate my privacy by ignoring the DNC,  rather I think about all of those millions of American companies who are honoring the DNC List and NOT calling.

'John" is nothing more than a recording somewhat cleverly done to sound like a live person.  The dead giveaway if you listen long enough is the request to press "1" to confirm delivery (then you get a live agent) or "5" to decline (and you confirm someone answers your phone so they sell it to other slime).

The same exact thing happened to us!  Last time they called was a little less than a week ago and they were literally calling every couple of days.  I finally exclaimed to the person (because they do NOT let you get a word in edge wise).  "DO I SOUND AS IF I NEED A BLEEPING MEDICAL ALERT ANYTHING!!!!!  CALL MY HOUSE AGAIN AND I'M REPORTING YOU TO THE FCC AND FTC!!!!"  They called one more time afterwards, but they hung up on me.  That was the last call and they have not called since.  You can be cordial for so long.  My suggestion to all who receives a call from them?  Respond the same as I did.  That'll stop it!

this is a scam!  they evidentally use marketing info. that show a senior at the address.  we have blocked each number they have used and they just find different numbers - through the internet.  we reported to the dnc, so lets see.  if you are a senior or have a family member that is one, caution them.

Caller is a SCAM targeting the elderly.  CLAIMS to be in the "Emergency Shipping Department", ready to send the emergency device (eg., First Alert type) "that you ordered".  Attempts to call the number don't connect (no ring or anything...dead air).
I suspect the number is spoofed, probably shows as a local number regardless of your location)...but if it IS Buffalo, be warned you slime of the earth scammers, I'm looking for you!  I'll find you.

Called once. Do not answer. Did not call back.
It is foolish to think and spread untrue rumors that the phone companies profit from these calls. Not true. File complaints with the FTC, and FCC.Like ladies and gentlemen,of course. Not everything is a conspiracy.

Although it sounds like a live person, this is definitely a recording. He goes on and on even after I verbally assaulted him  repeatedly.  No man could continue to carry on a sales pitch after what I was saying to him. That is unless he was insane......

This medical alert scam might be new. But the scam as whole is not. My friends grandfather was conned into one of these systems in the late 80's. They called about a free system and he ended up paying some outlandish amount a month.

We get calls from this number and others (including 616-613-2227) several times a week.  The only thing you can do is hang up on most of them because they are recorded messages.
