- Scammer SwineThe caller was telemarketing a medical alert system which he said was prepaid. The scam is that you are supposed to press #1 or #5 to accept or decline...which tells everyone you actually answered the phone and your number can be sold to MORE jerks for MORE scams.
How do you BLOCK numbers like this? Unfortunately the rich scum of VERIZON don't want you to. They make a fortune off telemarketers. They won't offer a caller ID system that blocks specific numbers and area codes.
Alternative is to get a Panasonic phone answering machine. It'll block up to 50 specific numbers (but I guess they aren't allowed to offer area-code blocking. Verizon's little Hitlers lobbied against that?) - MaddyThey just called and we no longer leave our machine turned on so that the number is not "live" to them. If you call the number, th recorded message is that it is not in service.
Others have identified this as a medical alert.
I am reporting it t the DNC list.- Caller: Unknown Name

- MidNyteStorm1 replies to Carolyn Warren| 1 replyThis is typical with these scam artists. They will hide hide their actual number by displaying a different one. In the past the common practice was to display an out of service number. But lately they will go so far as to display a number that is in service. When people actually call the number back to complain, they might end calling a private residence that has no affiliation with the call or another business entirely. It is bad enough to hide their numbers so you cannot contact them. But to display the number of an innocent party, is even worse.
Stopping the calls is not exactly easy. The best advice I can give you is to report the calls to both the FCC & FTC.
You may also want to look into a call blocking device that can be found on Amazon or even a cordless phone that offer this feature.
One more thing, you may get calls that offer to put you on their do not call list by pressing a number. Don't do it!!
This is likely to increase the number of calls you receive. - MidNyteStorm1 replies to MidNyteStorm1BTW, many of these calls are taking place from out of the country and it is next to impossible to enforce our laws on them.
- Warren replies to MidNyteStorm1If they keep calling you more than other folks you must be EXTREMELY elderly! They want to take advantage of scamming you before it's too late.
- michelle75Same as the previous reports, obviously a robo call, but sounds conversational.

- QB2Another call from my wannabe friends. I no longer let them get me mad like I once did. Coming here to post in all caps is rather immature and I will not lower myself to that level.
