- Flamingo replies to Bill "The Butcher"Same here, I didn't reveal myself to be human... BLOCKED
- bigtex| 1 replyJust called my home phone at 120PM. I didn't push 3 or 5 either and got the same "not human" response and hangup. A few posters who did push 3 say they got hung up on when they did that. This scammer may be collecting a database of active phone numbers that get a human answer to calls. That, with the person's name would be something they can sell to other scammers.
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- bigtex replies to bigtexIt doesn't matter whether you push 3 or 5. Either way, you have revealed yourself to be human and that a live person answers your number.
- AnnoyedRobo Call.

- MaryWell, finally, a different scam message, one that was actually very funny! They annoyingly called at 8:30 at night. The CID had an area code and number I kind of recognized as a scam number. But I do emergency phone work, so since I wasn't one hundred percent sure, I picked up and listened silently. Robocall female voice, "This is a very important message for (my real name). If you are (my name) please press 1. If you are not (my name) please press 3." I just listened some more to their silence. Then a male robovoice said "you have not answered, you have revealed yourself to not be human" and they disconnected! I cracked up laughing! They probably had no idea they were funny, but it was hysterical nonetheless! Instead of just disconnecting when it didn't hear any responses, it said I wasn't human! My friends occasionally wonder about that, tooooo!!! ROFL!
The only part that was worth thinking about briefly, was that they use our names during the robocall. I don't like that. Only once before, in all these years of scam calls, did a medical brace scam caller deliberately ask me, in the middle of a call, if (my real name) was my name, and I denied it, telling him it was the last person who had had my phone number, long ago, before the phone company assigned it to me. I think he did it to infer he knew personal info about me, but they can't hurt us unless you give them more information like your credit card number. Any old White Pages from decades ago, would have had a public listing, and you can't unring a bell, it's floating around out there. But I've paid extra to be unlisted and unpublished for many decades. And they didn't call my cell phone, which still doesn't get scam calls.
This is the first, and only, funny robocall I've ever received! I'm not a human! Ha! ROFL!- Caller: A funny scam robocall

- Mary replies to jetamesJetames, some of us, such as myself, have to answer unless we are sure it's a scam call. Most of them are easy to recognize and ignore. I do work of an emergent nature, and folks need to be able to contact me by phone to make arrangements to get my help. So, yeah, I recognize and ignore most of these scam calls, but when I'm not sure, I have to tolerate the inconvenience of answering. So many people move but don't change their cell number to their new area code. It's a problem for me but you can't tell people what to do.
- Mary replies to Candy.... this *IS* their life!
- Mary replies to CandyYou have a lot to learn, Grasshopper. Just because the CID says Colorado, doesn't mean that's where they really are. Phishing and spoofing are easy to do for these scammers.
- Mary replies to NebraskaGalNebraskaGal, I was one of the lucky ones whose Equifax file wasn't hacked, i got the scam call too, so your suspicion about that may or may not be true. But being alert and aware like you are, is a good thing. But unfortunately, it is true that these criminals can panic an elderly person. And also, remember that when your parents were young, there was only one phone per household and whenever the phone rang, you had to answer, because phone calls back then were almost always going to be important calls or an emergency. This scam stuff is relatively new. Your advice to them is perfect, keep repeating it so they won't forget, which is also part of aging.
- Mary replies to carolDoh... because criminals don't pay attention to the laws, carol, including the Federal DNC! That's why they are called outlaws! The only ones not calling you, are the real honest businesses! Scammers don't care. They just want all your money. Your phone number is out there on the dark web, you can't unring a bell... and is also collected and stored by information-gathering companies who sell demographic lists for a price. Learn to recognize and ignore scam CIDs.
- Mary replies to Joan| 1 replyIt's FEDERAL law, not State law... and the cutoff is 9 p.m., not 8:30.
And scammers ignore the law anyway. They'll laugh at you if you give them a shpiel about the law, they know the law can't find them. - TheRealSeriously® replies to MaryWhile you are correct, the post you're replying to is from last year and 'Joan' is highly unlikely to see your comment
- CarolThis number called my house phone. I did not answer but dialed it back later and only busy signal.

- Tired GrammaRobotic voice asked for me by name/household. Said to press 3 if it was me, 4 if not. Hung up. (I didn't press anything)
- KyrosThe recorder picked it up and the "robot" left a message that said: "Sorry, you did not reveal yourself to be human. Goodbye!" This call came on the landline phone. I did notice upon coming to this site that this "prank" or potential scam has been going on since 2016. When I googled the number - it was from Colorado. I do not ever answer calls if I don't know who is calling and the number on CID is not familiar. I let the recorder pick it up on the landline and I don't answer on my cell phone if I don't know who it is. Too much junk. I am grateful for this site and information that is provided from those who have also had the experience! Thank you!
- RandyUnwanted recorded call using my name. They did not give a company name, so I didn't select one of their options, none of which was to opt out of their calls. The recording then told me I wasn't human.

- NevadaJust got called from this number, and was uncomfortable that the recording used my name since I have always had an unlisted number. I just let it go to the answering machine, didn't push 3 or 5, and at least it only disconnected without telling me I wasn't human! Very, very irritating.
