Trying to get them to remove you from their list will only frustrate you to the point of near insanity. Instead, if they are calling your cell phone (which they are mine), save their number in your address book and assign a special ringtone for it....MUTE!  They don't bother me anymore. Sometimes I see they have called but I never heard it.

Any lawyers on this site? Can we start a class action lawsuit? This is just one of many boards that show NUMEROUS harrassment incidents by Church of Quacks.

This is not true. They have no intention of "eliminating dead mail."

Nobody gets off their lists, ever. Never bought a book, you say?
How did they get my contact info, you wonder?

Possibly through a front group, including 'Drug Free Marshals,' a Scientology front that targets YOUR CHILDREN! Yes, sounds good, doesn't it? Children sign a "pledge" that they will not use drugs. And give mommy and daddy's contact info.

There are many ways to wind up on Scientology's many lists, and the recent push has been to contact EVERY SINGLE PERSON on that list to see if they have any interest in coming in for courses. The list doesn't differentiate between someone who bought a copy of Dianetics, or filled out a form at a Personality Test booth at the fair, or whose kid filled out a form at some school festival. To the cult, you are all potential "Raw Meat," and they will persist in bothering you.

There is no legitimate purpose behind this. They are not simply clearing out their address book, because that would mean eliminating contact info of a potential sucker...err, customer! And that is simply not going to happen!

    Fed up with this
They have been calling me for the past ten years.  I was afraid to be rude cause I had heard so many nasty things about them.  So I just didn't answer.  Then I got fed up with the mail and sent back a publication with "Leave me alone" written on it.  Now I am getting calls 3-5 times per day.  They are freaks!!!

9:55pm Sunday night 9/6/09, got a call from this number.  I hung up when I realized it was Church of Scientology Mailing Department.  How they got my name and phone number I do not know (it's unlisted).  The woman called back and I had a couple-minute conversation with her to tell her to remove my number from their call list.  She kept asking me if I had ever lived on some street in California (I was borned and raised and still live in Illinois).  Very interesting but offputting at the same time because Scientology scares me.

I am a former staff member at a small Scientology mission.  Here is why this webpage even exits. Written directives by the now deceased L Ron Hubbard states that all contact information is to be kept indefinitely, and he gave orders to keep on promoting. There are no exceptions to this that I am aware of that were written by Mr. Hubbard. Are you wondering why there is a constant and even an increase in communication? Here is why.   Every Thursday by 4pm there is a tally of all communication sent out throughout the organization. For the Communication Department, the goal is to increase the amount of communication each week. It is called Stats, which is short for the word statistics. Every department has a Stat to increase. When the Stats have increased this is considered a success.   This is actually called a Game by the organization. Those who have the highest Stats are applauded by the organization. It is like a competitive sport.  The departments and individuals with the highest Stats are applauded by the organization.  So therefore, this is why you are reading the stories on this webpage. This is a Game.  If they get one person to agree to sign up and play with them this week, this means they need two to sign up play next week. If they make 220 calls last week, they need to make 222 calls this week.    How to stop it?  Until Mr. Hubbard returns from the dead to order an exception, or perhaps a hidden exception is published by the organization, the Scientology Communication Departments will continue to play this Game. The game or mission is to Clear the Planet or to release people from painful and harmful mental memories. There is an underlying assumption throughout the organization that those not successfully uncovering and releasing harmful memories according to their standards needs Scientology to be a free spiritual being.  A point I would like to make here is that only YOU can know deep down how spiritually free you are.  In fact, this self understanding is honored in Scientology, but you could find it hard to believe that your opinion matters by the organization after experiencing the stories shared here.  How to help yourself?  If you can at all feel any compassion for the callers on the other end of your phone, please do. Ask yourself questions like, "Where is the joy these people have in calling people up with a script?" or  "What if any contentment is felt in their having a job where true connections with fellow human beings is discouraged?" or "In what way are these people actually creating joy and happiness in their own lives by calling you - a stranger - miles away at the family hour?"   I hope this message may be of help in creating a better understanding of why these stories are here.  There is a true and genuine frustration by writers here. Imagine how many more are not sharing their stories. Where is the relief?  I am on the National Do Not Call Registry but there are ways to be even more creative about how to establish peace with telemarketers and to do it with dignity and self-respect despite how the telemarketers are mistreating you.  It starts by loving and having compassion for You.

I have done everything possible to avoid the COS (Church of Scientology) from getting my address or phone number.  I attended their "church" at one time (till I realized they don't want anything but your money) but haven't had contact with them for 20 YEARS!  Yet, they have followed me all over the US and manage to send me several pieces of mail EVERY DAY!!  Recently they have started calling several times per week. I had to put caller ID on my phone so that I could identify unknown callers because many of the COS phone numbers come up as "unknown".  I don't know how to stop them.  My husband screamed in the phone to them one evening and they didn't care at all! They called right back from another number.  They are relentless and uncaring about how much they bother someone so long as they get to include it in their statistical reports and count is as a call made. Hopefully my recent subscription to blocking services will keep them away from me as long as I am vigilant about determining which of the "unknown" calls are them. It is amazing to me that I have had to take these measures!

I've had similar experiences with Scam-ology, once they get your number and address it's nearly impossible to get off their stupid mailing and calling list. These are VERY ANNOYING people.

If you are still getting tons of crap from them in your mail-box, you can get USPS form 1500 from the USPS website (download), fill it out, attach a piece of their crappy mail, and send it to the New York address on the form. It is for obscene materials, but, YOU get to decide what is obscene to you, and the post office has to process it (they can't refuse). It then becomes a crime for the cult to send you anything else and they will be penalized $$$ by USPS if they violate that order!

Lots of people are starting to send in this form, and it is the only sure fire way to make them stop mailing their delusional crap to you.

Call Scientology at their Los Angeles, California building 323-960-3550 and ask for "Merav Ellis, Address Correction and Policing In Charge". She should be able to help you, but if she's not available then they'll direct you to the person who is now holding the position "Address Correction and Policing In Charge". Tell her that you don't want any more mailing or calls from Scientology or any of their groups or organizations, and to mark you as "off the list" FOREVER. It may take a while for this information to propagate from her centralized computer to the other Scientology organizations, but it will help. It will NOT, however, completely stop the problem. But it should be your first step. The reason it will not stop the problem is that they keep lists all over the place (on paper and in computers), and do not use the centralized computer to "cross check" for people who don't want calls. It should stop the bulk-mail junk mailings, though.

Call your local police and/or your phone company. Ask them about making a complaint against harassment. Especially since they "tracked you down" after being told you never wanted contact from them again, you probably have a good reason to make a complaint. If you can make a complaint that is simply a police report, you can later send a copy of that report to Church of Scientology International (their "mother church") and demand to never hear from them again. That will put you on some good (for you) "black list" where they should order people to stop calling you. To locate the address to which to mail a copy of your report to the police on harassment, go to the California Secretary of State website and do a "business entities search" for the corporation "Church of Scientology International". You want to mail your demand to the "Agent for service". At present that is Jeanne M. Gavigan, 3055 Wilshire Blvd #900, Los Angeles CA 90010.

Whenever you get mail from them, if it includes a business reply envelope (free postage for you) scribble on the envelope or area showing mailing address and send it back to them. Make it clear that they should remove you from their lists and stop mailing you. Don't be nice; that won't work with Scientology. You have to "threaten legal action" if they continue to mail to you. Scientology takes "legal threats" seriously. Just asking them won't get the desiresd result.

Whenever anyone calls, ask them if they have heard of "Xenu" (pronounced zee-noo). Say you'd love to tell them Hubbard's secret Xenu story. They will think you now know the (altered version of their) secret OT3 levels. No one will want to hear any more -- they will probably be afraid; they're trained to think they will get pneumonia if they hear the story and will probably hang up on you. Then tell them that you never want to hear from them again. If they try to argue with you, or convince you otherwise, you should start to read them L. Ron Hubbard's OT3 writing. Here is the OT3 story (page 1 only). If they won't "go away" on the phone, just calmly start reading it to them over the phone. They WILL go away. They WILL stop calling you. Make sure your friends and family also have a copy of it, too, and know they should read it over the phone to the Scientologists. Scientology will get the idea that not only are YOU on the side of Xenu and an enemy to Scientology, but that all your friends and family are too, and they should call less and less over time.
Scientology does not care about "do not call" lists. Even though they consider themselves "a charity" and they consider that they don't fall under the usual "do not call registry" guidelines, if you ask off of their lists and ask to never be called again... they cannot do so without risking a suit to owe you... what is it... about $11,000 PER INCIDENT?

They DO care about threats of using a lawyer to sue them. Use those threats liberally.

Eventually, they will tag you as someone to not bother with. But you're going to have to persist to make it known that you are not on their side. This means showing yourself as an enemy (knowing the XENU story).

Being nice, or telling them you're "not interested" is just a reason for them to call you again.

It's not impossible to get off their lists. I have. They rarely mess up and call me these days, but it took persistence and "being nasty" to get the desired effect.

To stop the buttloads of crappy mail they send to you every week, the following is very effective:

Go to the USPS (US postal service) website, go to forms section, select Form 1500 (Prohibitory Order), print it, fill in the one page questionnaire, sign it, attach the mailing they sent you…. to the form, and mail it to the New York address on the form. If you send it directly to New York, it will be processed faster than if you submit it to your local post office.

This form is now being used by thousands of people who are fed up with any organization that keeps sending them voluminous junk mail . It was originally intended for pornography, but you get to decide what is obscene or offensive to you, and the postmaster can not refuse to process it.

The USPS will then issue a Prohibitory Order against the cult, and mail it to them. The Order (which is a Federal Order) prohibits them, or their agents, or their assigns, from contacting you via the mail. If they do, they have violated Federal law.

You will also receive a letter (from the New York post office) indicating the number of the Prohibitory Order, and instructions on what to do if the offender (I LOVE that word!) mails you anything subsequently. You can notify the postmaster (send proof of mailing with your complaint) and then the USPS can cite them for the violation and fine them lots of $$$$$.

THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET THESE PESTS OFF YOUR BACK PERMANENTLY.
