- Anonymous- This is Church of Scientology's "Mailing Department" from Florida.
- Several different people from the Church of Scientology previously called from different phone numbers. Earlier this year, they called from this particular number.
- Keep in mind that the call may be monitored and/or recorded. However, the law may require that you are informed of this fact first before they continue to dialogue with you.
- It was explained by different people that they wanted to:
- "make sure we have the right mailing address,"
- "know about any corrections regarding mailing address,"
- "check if we are sending mail; and that if we are or aren't, either way, please call. We need to verify records."
- One caller (female) said that she is "calling anybody who has ever did service for the church" as well as "updating addresses," and looking forward to "getting reacquainted."
- Now calling from another phone number, it was explained that they are "updating" their "computer files" and making sure mail is being received at the address in their files.
- NOTE: I have not personally received any mailings for years (until recently) from Church of Scientology at my most previous and current addresses.
- Not wanting to have anything to do with Scientology over 20+ years ago (and asking to remove my contact information several times back then), they are now trying to contact me after all this time?! They really should just delete those old outdated contact information, instead of trying to search for and verify the people's contact information from years ago in order to update their old computer files/mailing lists to send them unwanted mail once again. It would be most considerate to many if they would just spend less time on their old lists, since it could be quite upsetting for relatives receiving such phone calls when they call to ask for people who have been deceased for many years. Perhaps they do not really understand that if people in their old database were still interested in Scientology, THEY would be the ones to initiate contact with them (not the other way around). Instead, for some reason, the organization seem to find nothing wrong with continuing to call, insisting on bothering people (even after being previously asked to be removed from their contact lists), and causing such inconvenience and frustration. They are indeed making their own organization really look bad to others, since more and more people are complaining (especially online) about their persistence and unwanted contact. It seems that they do not have a Public Relations professional/contact person in their organization to assess and restructure their Communications and Mailing Departments.
- From other sources online, it has been advised not to volunteer any extra information to them, as it may just go into your "files" for their records. Also, do not let friendliness of the callers sway you into a personal dialogue, which may lead to softening you up for unwanted purchases and/or commitments to the organizaiton that you may regret later.
- Instead, if all else fails and you continue to receive unwanted contact via phone and/or mail, do your own further research and consider what some have suggested [search online for phone number "(323) 580-5520" and read posts dated July 11, 2010 from "Anonymous" and Oct. 13, 2010 from "(bleep)___ Scientology"].
- Visit the website that was suggested by others: http://www.xenu.net and educate yourself with what this organization is all about and with the reports by some (including former Scientologists who worked in the organization) who have chosen to speak out and warn others. Be very cautious about their beliefs/teachings, because it is described by others (including those who were once involved in Scientology), as a "cult" that will try to draw you in and keep you under false teachings and various methods of mind control.
- They were previously asked to stop calling for me at relatives' house (where I do not reside); and to also completely remove my contact information from all their lists, but they did not listen. And the calls continued. And continued. And continued. Several sources advise to not even bother speaking to them, because they won't listen and won't remove you from their contact lists. Sadly, this has been true for me. But I do not understand why, since it really is bad publicity for their own organization and cause. They have now boldly sent an unwanted item that was NOT even requested. Needless to say, after taking a photo of the package, it was immediately refused and returned back to the U.S. Post Office unopened.
- I am praying that God would intervene; that they would realize to just immediately remove my contact information from all their files, and cease calling (especially my relatives' house, where I do not reside) and sending any further mail. But more so, I am praying that God would bless all these people who are searching for truth with the only "way, the truth, and the life": The truth is found in the Bible, which is Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior of His people, the only hope for forgiveness of sins and eternal salvation.- Caller: Church of Scientology (Florida)

I had gotten involved with them about 30 years ago for a short period. Big mistake once I realized their tactics. Unfortunately, I am now on their mailing list AND phone list AND cell phone list probably for eternity. I was able to get most mail stopped thanks to some advice on the previous posts but some of it still comes in. I recently am getting calls from about 20 different phone numbers once they tracked me down 30 years later. I am getting 2-3 calls a day in the last few months in what seems like a "Gang" phone call tactic. I ignore them mostly but it appears I need to try the posted tactics as I am now totally disgusted with them! Apparently they fail to realize that their tactics will only spread negativity about their organization. Stay away from these people as they are mainly after your $$$$$$.- Caller: Scientology

I was harassed twice in 2 weeks time. The call was more like someone fishing for information than checking a mailing list. They had the wrong name and information but still wanted to talk to me after I told them for the 2nd time that they had the wrong name and information and also to take my number off their list - again.
I appreciate who ever made the following comment on this message board:
Mention to them that per their code of ethics "Never give or receive communication unless you yourself desire it". Per L. Ron Hubbard founder of Scientolgy.
No one should buy their book and learn the ridiculous crap in it or go to their websites to “educate” themselves in order to stop harassing phone calls from happening. Why should I or anyone I know give the “Church” of Scientology money via buying their book or give them web hits in order to get them to stop calling? Not only do you Scientologists try to con someone on the phone, but you try to con people who complain about you on this very message board. JUST STOP IT, IF YOU WERE A LEGITEMATE “CHURCH” YOU WOULD NOT HAVE TO USE SUCH TATICS.- Caller: 08 108 Chruch of Scientology

- VnjhnI am on the DONOT CALL list (updated a week ago) and they called anyway.
- FreeHave any of you been slamming Scientology recently to Scientologists?. I have. And in a few days received a messageless voice mail from the offending number.
- Brenda replies to PARYou're lucky! I went thru the same thing. I had contact with them ONCE almost 35 years ago. And now their mailing department keeps calling wanting to "update their records". They also sent a letter asking for the same info, so I wrote them a letter back 6 weeks ago telling them I'm not interested and demanding them to quit their harassing phone calls. Worked for about a week or two, then they have started up again. So I answered the call one night when they called again and argued with the guy about removing me from their call records, then hung up on him. He called back! I explained again to remove me, then hung up. Two days later, the calls started up again -- altho' this time late at night!! Grrrrr. I'm ready to file a complaint with the proper authorities. I hope they continue to NOT call you! :)
- Mustang SallyHave you been hounded for years by this stupid cult? So have I, and I decided to do something about it.
Would you like to see the Church of Scientology investigated by the Justice Dept / FBI / IRS ?
So would thousands of other Americans.

- USPS Hater replies to F*ck Off Scientology!!!| 1 replyActually, the USPS can , and will, refuse to process a prohibitory order in this case. Prohibitory Orders only apply to mail that offers matter FOR SALE that the recipient finds sexually provocative. In this case, they are not selling anything. I tried and argue with the USPS Prohibitory Order Processing Center that I considered mailings of a religious nature as an attempt to "sell God," but they didn't agree and refused to issue the prohibitory order on the basis of freedom of speech.
- F*CK OFF SCIENTOLOGY! replies to USPS HaterThere are a lot of my friends who have gotten these prohibitory orders against the cult. It's very easy, and it doesn't have to be sexually provacative, just annoying. Get the form from the USPS website, fill out the form, attach an example of their sh*tty promo and mail to the New York Office.
- SwtnseattleI was in the church 30 years ago as a young teenager. out of the blue last year I started getting calls from the "Sea Org", in LA. I asked how they got my number and I was told, by public profile. During the first call I explained that I've not been involved with the church for over 30 + years, and have no interest in the church. I've asked for them to quit calling me. I have since been getting calls from LA, Florida, and many in WA saying they are with the mail room with the Church of Scientology. The following are the numbers I've blocked on my cell phone - 253-650-1175, 360-715-3216, 425-312-1975, 206-743-0195, 323-960-3543, 913-563-5522. I get several calls from various numbers back to back. This is harassment and I've no idea how to stop them. I hate the feeling that there's nothing I can do! They sought me out and will not stop!
