Unfortunately, most of these losers are workers in overseas (especially Indian) boiler room call centers.  They can't be deported because they are not here in the first place.

YMax Communications Corp. is the company that supplies MagicJack telephone numbers.  Your caller isn't in New Brunswick, N.J.; he could be anywhere in the world.  He just picked a New Jersey telephone number to annoy people and engage in extortion.  And he certainly isn't from some "state investigation department."

You can now expect to receive many more of these types of calls in the future.  You have established yourself as an easy mark for criminals to take advantage of.

Even if you change your number, all you will be doing is passing your problem on to the person to whom your number is subsequently reassigned.

I got two calls from this no. They were referring that they are calling from IRS and it was regarding 2010 California state taxes that were not paid in full. They referred an old address and that's how I figured out this was a fake call.

Got a call from this number 732-645-1697 about an hour ago. There were two guys, one with a heavy middle eastern or asian indian accent and another guy with a british accent. They told me that they were state investigators investigating a case and if i had received any notifications about this case before the call. When I told them that i could not talk right now and call me sometime later, they threatened that if i dont i will be in serious trouble as they have arrest warrants against me. I was unable to understand half the things they were saying. They wanted me to write down their number to call back, and when i said i couldnt, they hung up.
I googled for this and found more information reported earlier. Thanks to this website.

I got a call from this fraud person speaking in a big accent.

Simply threaten him and they will hang up.

If you are on the phone too long they will ask for money which you will never see again.

Received call on my phone left by person with indian accent. Claiming that there is complaint  lodged against me I must call immediately  732-645-1697 and speak with Stev Morgan state investigator.called them twice they needed more info which I did not provide person got angry and hung up.

Got a prank call today morning from 732-645-1697 claiming that they have received legal notice and I need to call back and identify myself and failure to do so will result into legal action...

Got a similar call stating that they are from some State office - got report that my identity has been stolen and I need to call them right away on what I must do right away. This was a voice mail. I did not call back.

Just a got this morning from 732-645-1697 from Alan Cooper (with heavy accent) of State Investigation Department. He left a threatening message about legal action, etc. Did not pick up the phone. Thanks for the information on this site.

Something about my identity stolen. Heavy accent. Sounded very Chinese. From state dept., he says, but difficult understand what he is saying. Authoritative, at least trying to be. Why arrest me if it is my identity that has been compromised!

Mash,  the phone numbers are pretty much spoofed for a start. And these folks as per Anoniemouse's posts below, could be anywhere in the world. All you can do is report the info you have to authority's. Yes, you can include the links to the authority's here, it doesn't hurt anything.  The sole goal from these people is to extort and scare you into paying non existing "debt" aka Extortion Scam.
Our goal here is to educate folks to the scams and to take the correct steps in protecting themselves from scammers and thieves..  and this is not to say that real ones don't cross the lines and break laws, because they do sadly..

Its a lie for a start.. Report them to the real authority's and consider buying a call blocker, either device or phone. The scammers can be relentless trying to extort money from victims. The links to report are on page one in my post there..

One important thing to remember if these losers have any of your personal information such as your social security number, date of birth or drivers license make sure you register with identity protection notify the credit agencies as well as your banks!!

Crazy person called and kept asking me information about the "End of Days". LOL. I blocked him. What in the world could he be talking about?

Got a call from 'officer Sam Richards' 732 645 1697.  new Brunswich. Wanted my spouse. Heavy Spanish/Jersey accent.  Said he is an officer of the law.  Would give me no info as it is a Legal matter. I kept asking if he was an officer of the law. Hkept repeating Officer Sam Richards.
This is a scam.   After so long using the same cell why has no-picked him up.  Give no info!!!!!!!

I got a call today from a federal investigator Jack Roberts with a British accent. Fortunately I knew that everything sounded like a hoax and it just seemed wrong. He was asking for my father and I lied about his absence - there is no way in hell I am going to forward the name, the phone number, or the poorly titled "State Investigation Department." Working for government, I should know about the state departments and there is no such thing. Also, I am reporting from Kansas and the 732 area code is not one we have. Also, on the Caller ID it just said 'anonymous' which is very shady. The number was exactly 732/ 645-1697

Got a call stating that if I don't call back, an arrest warrant will be issued in my name.
