- Ciberpuppi| 2 repliesI received a call similar to Debbie's just today. A guy with a very thick Middle Eastern/Indian/Pakistanian accent who claimed to be "Mike Davis" was supposedly calling for National Cash Advance. At first, I thought he was saying "Nashville Cash Advance".
He told me that congratulations were in order because I'd been approved for an $800 loan. Before he went on about the "easy monthly payments", I said, "Suppose I don't want to pay it off monthly? What if I just want it for a month? How much would it be to pay the whole thing off?" "$852, if you pay it off by June 15th".
What followed was a series of me asking him for the terms in writing and him talking about me "uploading $150.00 with a Ratification Voucher so we can confirm your balance". I was promised that the $150 was good faith month and would be refunded in minutes and the $800 would be in the checking account as well.
Of course, what he wanted was for me to go to the nearest CVS Drug Store and put $150.00 on an untraceable debit card and "trust" him. In spite of numerous requests that he simply email or fax over the terms of the loan, he actually expected me to believe that I'd get it "At your doorstep 48 hour after you've gotten your loan".
Needless to say, I hung on him and immediately found the main website for National Cash Advance. And yes - this is a scam that's been going on a long time.
What really amused me was the fact that he was using a 732 New Jersey area code and kept telling me he was in Florida. If anyone wants to call Mike Davis and screw with him, the number is (732) 703-9539. I tried to call him from my landline which is blocked. Each time, the call was picked up and hung up on. It wasn't until I'd called him back from my cell phone (which does not block) that "Mike" picked up the phone.
Sadly, I'm sure there are thousands of people who were desperate enough to need some kind of payday loan in the first place who have been hurt even more by these kinds of scammers.

[moved from https://800notes.com/forum/ta-9c0705ea040b027/national-cash-advance-scammed] - Comcast tech replies to CiberpuppiI to have received over 50 calls in 4 days. When I decided to play along, I was given this # to complete the transaction. When I called, I requested again to be removed from the call list, but was hung up on. Subsequent call backs were met with an automated message saying that the Majicjack customer was not available. I plan to keep calling...
