Not as unimaginable as you think. $27k later and we got to pay for most of her burial as she cashed out on it to send these [***] money. - Julius| 1 replyWe've been getting calls from these people for about over a week now. Just a couple minutes ago, we got another call again from them, but this time they answered back. A woman was on the line claiming to be for Primera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska and then asked about the health insurance of my uncle
- Caller: Primera Blue Cross Blue Shield
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- Julius replies to JuliusDon't know why they even use the name "Michigan," which appeared on our landline phone and that this number was used to call us. I live in Anchorage, Alaska
- AnnoyedCall center noise in the background. They apologized and hung up when I told them it was a business number.
- Caller: Livonia MI
- John replies to Justin TymeYeah, I also get a giggle when I see blocked call on the ID. I can't stop the first calls but some of these idiots just keep calling back. They'll spoof a new number and I'll block that too.
- JohnFrom comments here it appears the same spoof number is being used for several scams. I turn off the ringer when I sleep but I wouldn't have answered anyway. A lot of robo calls are voice activated so if you pick up and don't speak it will disconnect and you will hear a fast busy tone.
- Maryland ResidentA young woman called me from this number, asked if she was calling a business and when I said twice (because she asked twice) that she was calling a business, she thanked me and hung up.

The Do Not Call Registry is not a magic switch attached to your phone line, that will block calls. The DNC List is NOT a call blocking service.
The DNC list can help stop calls originating from legitimate, registered telemarketers who have paid to subscribe to the list.- Your calls were not from legitimate, registered telemarketers.
- Therefore, the DNC list cannot stop those calls.

Click on the Info link, below:InfoThe DNC list does not automatically block calls. It is NOT a call blocker! Instead, it provides a list of "do not call" phone numbers to telemarketers who registered their businesses with the FCC, and who pay a fee for the list. The DNC list administration is supported by these fees.
The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations, charities, some companies with preexisting business relationships, as well as debt collectors and certain nonprofit organizations, but these organizations usually have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).
The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those telescum are not registered, do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
It can stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that. Just think ... if there were no DNC, you would be receiving incessant calls from BOTH legitimate and spamming telemarketers!
Fact: If a caller does not leave a message, the call is NOT a violation of the DNC rules!
Fact: The DNCL itself has no enforcement authority - they forward complaints to the appropriate agency.
Fact: There is no significant drain on your tax dollar because the DNC is funded by the fees they charge registrants.

The following page states the FCC's DNC Registry applies to both intrastate and interstate telemarketing calls:

However, to confuse things, this page states the DNC Registry applies only to interstate telemarketing calls:

Remember, the FCC's Do Not Call site is a good one to report unwanted calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers. To report spammers and scammers, visit the FTC site, at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
