- confusedrecieved a call from Amber Knight regarding a situation I might not know about and wanted to give me a chance to give a statement, she left this nessage on my work cell phone! Sounded suspicious so I googlef, I would say definite scam, debt collectors have rules to follow and if any of these posts are true this is way over the line, for those of you bashing the people recieving the calls, obviuosly you must work with Amber.
- TonyS replies to my businessOk my business.....blah blah blah......and like you pay all your debts right? That was good advice put out by Alfalfa, helpful to other people that need it, like myself, who has gotten behind in my debts, but are back on track and becoming "perfect" again just like you.....horses ass!!
- Scam replies to my businessMr. My business, if it's ur business then put the name of it and explain what u do an not hide behind BS, I looked up the number and there is no owner, no address, basically nothing on your business, and by having Miss Allen call saying I want to take a statement from u sound like you people work for the IRS or a bunch of idiots, if u people are trying to collect a debt then say so. Don't say I need a statement from you. And to put others down just because times are hard and people fall back on payments doesn't give you a right to talk crap, but I could tell u this, and I'm
Not a mind reader but I bet you a 1000.00 bucks towards whatever debt u say I owe that you once where a mortgage broker, or a realtor, or a contractor who has debt of his own, because if u Mr. Business really know what ur doing that wouldn't be the way you would collect on anyone so stop with your story telling about how u pay all ur debt and that u owe no one money. Be a really company and put all your company info on the Internet, u don't because u people are scammers. Have a good night and I forsee u going belly up real soon, now go F urself - RelievedSame situation. I received an email from Amber Knight stating she had some paper work on her desk and didn't know if i was aware of the situation. I wsa terrifed someone in my family was in some kind of trouble so I decided to google the number and now i find that it's a debt collector. Probably calling for "the guy" who had this number before me like all the other people who call for him.

- anonymous replies to my business"it is against the law to "drain" someones account without permission. A company can only take the agreed amount on the agreed upon date or they can be sued" is true and works in favor of scammers. *NEVER* give account info over the phone. Legit collectors per section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf *must* tell you at initial contact, or send you paperwork within 5 days of initial contact, the following:
1. $amount of debt,
2. name of the current creditor (which may differ from the original creditor who might have sold your debt),
3. a statement that that debt will be assumed to be valid unless you dispute in writing within 30 days,
4. a statement that that if you do dispute in writing within 30 days, the collector must mail you written verification of the debt,
5. a statement that if you ask the collector in writing within 30 days, the collector must send you the name and address of the original creditor if it's different from the current creditor.
If you don't get the 5 disclosures, orally or in writing (you do not have to ask for it, the FDCPA requires it), treat the collector like you would any SCAMMER. Scammers are using bought/hacked loan application data to extort payments for fictitious debts from victims and victims' families and friends.
The FBI warns about payday loan extortion scams here http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/paydayloanscam_120710
The BBB has issued several alerts on this scam, just google "bbb.org alert phony debt collector"
Report to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate. - anonymous replies to are you people serious"everyone want to get out of doing the right thing" is a false assertion. Nobody is telling debtors to run away from debts but debt collectors are expected to perform collection activities within the letter of the law. If abusive collectors break the FDCPA like "fax something to your job maybe your being sued," they will be treated like scammers.
- AnnoyedI received two calls from this number. First from Amber and then from David Wells who claimed to be Amber's supervisor. When I called back I was not able to talk to David but I spoke with a receptionist who said they were calling in regards to a matter pertaining to an individual who was not even at our phone number. She said that our number must be on his credit report. I asked her to remove our phone number from the file and she said she would. I asked her for the company name and she said it was John Sanders. I asked if that was the name of the company and she said yes, John Sanders - CKS Financial. I asked for the address and she gave me
P.O. Box 2856

- Paying off my debt are u?Ok first of all most of the name calling and stuff is in regards to illegal phone calls. As a person who is now permantly disabled and struggleing to make ends meet and still working on paying off all my debt. Many creditors are took care of already. Debt collectors have laws they MUST follow in regards to collecting debts. There are also many scammers out there trying to prey on the poor and elderly. (people they think are uneducated) These people arent saying they are trying to get out of the debt they are simply stating if it is legit and u arent a scammer then abide by the law. If you can't then people with some education on the matter will assume you a fake. The BBB has no info on ur company and phone searches reveal nothing. So how do we know u arent a fly by nite operation trying to make a few bucks u don't deserve. That is the point not that people are trying to find loop holes.

- LMac replies to CRAZY| 1 replyI know this post is over a year old, but I googled Amber Knight from Chesapeake, VA and found this. I've been getting the same screwy calls worded exactly the same, first Amber Knight, then David Well, and finally Amber Olsen. All have had my file come across their desk and they need to ask me a question before they do something with it. Never do they address who they are referring to or where they are from so I did a reverse phone number search for 757-204-6331 and found the location of the number in Chesapeake, Va. Having that information I found Amber Knights home phone. You I call and harrass her too? I do not have any outstanding debt that I know of so this is very fishy to me also. I will probably have the number blocked by the phone company.
- BallsdeepinKnowledge replies to Tony RiceThere are only three ways that your debt disappears off of your credit:
1. You actually PAY it.
2. You declare bankruptcy
3. You die.
As you can see, chances are the elderly don't have much to worry about unless they intend to use their credit or have children/grandchildren that need co-signers for credit. Even if a company 'writes off' an old debt, it is STILL on YOUR credit. They just write it off so that they don't have to pay the taxes on it. It still AFFECTS you just as it would if they had never wrote it off. So the idea that you shouldn't have to pay back old debt is nonsense. The fact that you KNOW the debt is old & still aren't even trying to chip away at it would make you MORALLY bankrupt. (Oh yes, pun definitely intended.) It's pretty simple, pay your bills. I know it's hard during these rough economic times, but even saving up an extra five bucks a week to send in with a money order to make a $20 payment for a month shows effort. (It will also be that much less when you are finally in a position to really start paying it off.) I'm sure the reason they want direct bank information is because the payments have obviously already been truant & it's because of that fact they want to be CERTAIN that they actually GET your payment. No company is going to 'drain' a bank account & still thrive as a business. Personally, I would be more worried about making purchases online than someone trying to get me to pay my bills. Also, I doubt that it's a demand for your bank account information...it's a preference to ensure you pay what you're supposed to be paying. I can't imagine any debt collection company turning their nose up at ANY payment. (Obviously, the more you pay on your debt the better it is for you since it will be off of your credit that much faster.) Even if you can show that you're making the attempt, a lot of times they will take it off of your report. People don't seem to realize how much their credit affects them. EMPLOYERS look at your credit too. A lot of these prime companies hire debt collection agencies to attempt to collect the debt for a period of time as one last chance for the debtor. Often times in these instances the prime company has already filed the paperwork necessary to begin litigation against the debtor...but paperwork takes awhile. 180 days to try to get someone to make an attempt to clean up the mess they've created for themselves before the process is underway. After that, it's a wrap. So it's wise in a lot of instances to just make whatever payment you can to avoid that from happening. It's not a scam...the scam is thinking that there's such a thing as free money & that if you wait long enough to pay a debt that it will just magically disappear. - graceI received calls from David Wells, saying with his colleague or asst Amber Knight, I searched for the names and I got several results, including this number. But remarkably, they used a different number to call me. It is 5714824734 and most recently, 4242709593. This David wells left a message saying they are calling regarding a matter that was in his desk and wanted to discuss it. they did not say the business name or what matter it is, but is an issue. They even threatened that if I do not return the call, they would take that response. hmm my number is already in the do not call list, but still scammers keep calling. how can this be stopped.

- WE HAVE RIGHTS replies to my business| 1 replyI know that I am responding to an old post, but maybe someone will read my reply and get some good from it. First of all the government bailed out the banks and the credit card companies. The working class people of this country did not get a bail out! Many of us lost our jobs and tried to deal with the original debtor and got nowhere! I was treated like trash by Bank of America, Capital One, the list goes on. They would not work with me. My interest rate went from 8% to 29% overnight when I called and asked for help to pay them back, instead I was given options to pay incredibly steep, outlandish payments that if I would have been able to afford to pay in the first place, I would not have been asking for help! And I absolutely refuse to deal with a collection agency! I will not lower myself to deal with them. I do not see how you can sleep at night taking advantage of people and terrorizing them. The government should wipe every working class person's debt clean and start over...sort of like what they did for the banks and the credit card companies. The burden falls on the credit card companies when they offer ridiculous lines of credit to people...so the CC companies and the banks can suck it up and get over it! I wouldn't pay a collection agency a dime if my life depended on it.
- DNF replies to WE HAVE RIGHTSI AGREE 100% with you RIGHTS screw em! we didnt get help so why should we pay twice! as in TAXES and their Effing interest rates as for amber / dave bunch why dont they have a 800 number? i mean i wont return their calls anyway and they also call off this # 276-207-8042
- kbeck9486 replies to LMacDid you ever find out what these people want, I've been getting calls from them too. Same people, same messages. I'm afraid to call them back.
- kbeck9486I've received calls from the same people using the same script. David Wells (800) 984-3711, Amber Knight (540) 369-3052 and a Mr. Slaten (7575) 204-6348. They leave a message stating they have received a file on their desk and need to get my statement. They don't identify who they are calling on behalf of, they don't identify if they are calling from a debt collector which by law they MUST do. Has anyone ever really talked to them. I tried calling back and the phone just rang and rang, no one picked up and no voice mail either.
- Caller: David Wells, Amber Knight, Mr. Slaten
- GregStarted receiving phone calls approx 2 weeks ago (August 2012) from both Amber Knight and David Wells using call-back number 757-296-0105. Called back and got the same info from their receptionist as "Annoyed" did back in May 2011. It appears that the no-call list isn't doing any of us much good.
