I'm a caregiver to an elderly with mentally impaired illness & has a habit of returning phonecalls even unknown to her. We started recieving same call 3 times today & good thing I am with her all the time & reminding her that its a scam don't call back or even answer it.

I received a call of a Steve Martin twice on sept. 9, 2015. Around 2:20pm, & 5:12 pm.
From the dep. U.S. treasury , the call sounded very mysterious to me with the tone of a threat. Saying if I choose to ignore it it would look bad on a Magistety judge or jury.
For federal criminal offense.
I called back and a woman answer the phone I gave her my last name and she asked for my name again that to me raised a red flag.
Please don't give any personal info to any stranger because information is what they want. When I asked this woman my full name she hung up the phone.

I'm tired of all these calls. I got the same message from Steve Martin trying to imitate an American accent.

Same as some above----I never answer the phone if it's a number I do not recognize.  This one pretended to be a magistrate of some sort and I must  call so they can help me avoid a federal offense.  Heavy foreign accent.  IDIOTS.

This is exactly the same message that "Steve Martin" left me.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Indian or Pakistani scammers.  Try not to let them bother you.  Invest in a call blocker and do not pick up on calls you do not recognize.

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.   Block and ignore.   DO NOT RETURN THE CALL!

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Well, seems Mr. Steve Martin is moving east this morning.  9/12/15 Got my threatening call in middle Tennessee.  I did what I always do, Goggled the number and found all y'all!!  Thanks for your education & help.

I got a message on my answering machine from this clown on 9-11. If you're going to run a scam using the justice system, wouldn't it be a necessary first step to actually KNOW something about the justice system?? Even if someone had an IQ of 12, how someone could fall for this, has me completely mystified. But this isn't over yet. I was a police supervisor for 29 years, so you can imagine how much fun I'm going to have when I call this halfwit back next week.

We got this phone call... it is calling to inform... who? We have 5 people living at our house. Let me know who you need to help STEVE MARTIN IDIOT. Really, is that supposed to scare me into calling you back. I need something in writing Stupid. Jeez, I don't usually write in but this guy really irritated me.

I just got the same call.  Steve Martin was his name.  He had a heavy Indian or Pakistani accent.  I used to get callls from people who claimed to be from Microsoft and telling me that my computer got viruses and needed to be fixed right away.

Says that we have a judgement against us front he US government. Advises to contact him immediately"ignoring this call could cost you ".

my turn to get this stupid call...as I listened to the message I started to feel sorry for everyone who gets the same call...this is idiocy...gave it to nomo...

We got a two messages from these scum last Friday with a woman's voice at 213-261-7610 and demanding we call back to avoid legal action. Today on this different number it was a man's voice. Probably from India, because the guy used the term "magistrate," which isn't used that often in the USA.

I wish our worthless congress people would pass legislation that would make the phone companies take action to stop this. But I'm not holding my breath.

Don't waste your time.  They just engage in abusive talk and hang up on you.
