They've been calling my home phone for about a week but never leave a message on my machine.  They hang up before the outgoing message is finished.  A review of my caller ID history shows that they called from a 703 number several times the week before.  I, too, don't owe anybody anything!

I've been getting these calls for about 6 mos now. I was blocking them and they started coming in as caller unknown. Today I talked to them. They are trying to collect a debt for Sprint. They had the last 2 digits of my ssn and an old addy at least 10 yrs old. I have never had Sprint and I have never owned a cell phone except for the prepaid for emergency that I have now. They said they would take my number out of their data bank.  We'll see.

They are a collector but they did not leav any messages.

I received a call from this number who asked for me by my first name. When I said yes this is the person they hung up on me. I then called back and got a gentlement who had the audacity to tell me he's called me seven times. At this point I asked him well if you've called me seven times why haven't you left a message?" and he also hung up on me. When I called them back a 3rd time, I got a woman and I asked her what kind of collection agency asks for people then hangs up on them. The woman told me well you were screaming at the gentleman. I didn't even wait for her to finish the sentence and advised the woman not to have this agency call my number again as I am reporting to the FTC and FCC and hung up on her

RPM. Just another bottom feeder spamming.

DOJ has an open investigation nationwide on them, just file an online complaint with your states Atty Gens Office.

Oh so almost everybody has been receiving futile calls from this number?
I wanted to google this number, and so I DID, they've been calling my cell phone which I have never have picked up because of COURSE I know it's an advertisement or whatever.... They've been calling like each day, I'm like WHAT THE BROWN?? I sometimes get some 1-800 calls... What a drag, they are so [***] annoying..

I swear, they are so relentless in calling me every single day, about three to four times a day using different phone numbers! Don't pick up any of their calls or else they will know your phone number is in use and will start spamming calls everyday! If you receive unrecognizable phone calls that are nowhere near your area code, don't even pick up unless they leave at least leave a voicemail telling who they are, otherwise you will be spam with consistent countless calls!!!!!!! Can somebody do something about this. Like polices, mobile company, etc. Do something! It is really terrorizing my mobile, and the fact that nobody is doing nothing about it out, leaves these repulsive no to keep doing what they are doing, which are scamming people and stealing our precious informations.

They call me every day 3-4 times a day.  That includes Sat. and Sun.  So now I am going to call them every day and hang up on them.  See if they like that.  Maybe everyone calls them and hang up on them.  Do it daily.  Lets bother them.  :}

These people call me again and again looking for someone that had the same first name, but not the same last name.  They claimed I owed some windstream account and gave out this other persons first and last name, as well as the last four of their ssn.  Is it even legal to give out someones info like that?

So how so I get these bholes to stop calling??

this number keeps calling.  Do not know who they are.  Do not have any outstanding debs if they are collection agency.

Had a call from PRIVATE, that's what shows on screen when they call my number.  No message left. Have no idea who this is.

I've worked in collections for 10 years. If you answer a collections call from this phone number (757-990-8973/RPM), let them know that under FDCPA rules and regulations they are NOT in compliance (for violating one of the following rules: http://credit.about.com/od/debtcollection/tp/fdcpa-violations.htm ).

You can sue them if such collection practices are continued!

1. Ask you to pay more than you owe
The collector cannot misrepresent the amount you owe. [15 USC 1692e] § 807(2)(a)
2. Ask you to pay interest, fees, or expenses that are not allowed by law
The collector can't add on any extra fees that your original credit or loan agreement doesn't allow. [15 USC 1692f] § 808(1)
3. Call repeatedly or continuously
The FDCPA considers repeat calls as harassment. [15 USC 1692d] § 806(5)
4. Use obscene, profane, or abusive language
Using this kind of language is considered harassment. [15 USC 1692d] § 806(2)
5. Call before 8:00 am or after 9:00 pm
Calls during these times are considered harassment. [15 USC 1692c] § 805(a)(1)
6. Call at times the collector knew or should know are inconvenient
Calls at these times are considered harassment. [15 USC 1692c] § 805(a)(1)
7. Use or threaten to use violence if you don't pay the debt
Collectors can't threaten violence against you. [15 USC 1692d] § 806(1)
8. Threaten action they cannot or will not take
Collectors can't threaten to sue or file charges against you, garnish wages, take property, cause job loss, or ruin your credit when the collector cannot or does not intend to take the action. [15 USC 1692e] § 807(5)
9. Illegally inform a third party about your alleged debt
Unless you have expressly given permision, collectors are not allowed to inform anyone about your debt except:
•your attorney
•the creditor
•the creditor's attorney
•
a credit reporting agency•your spouse
•your parent (if you are a minor)

10. Repeatedly call a third party to get your location information
The collector can only contact a third party once unless it has reason to believe the information previously provided is false. [15 USC 1692b] § 804(1)
11. Contact you at work knowing your employer doesn't approve
A collector is not allowed to contact you at work if you’ve let them know your employer doesn’t approve of these calls. [15 USC 1692c] § 805(a)(3)
12. Fail to send a written debt validation notice
Within five days of the collector's initial communication, it must send you a notice include the amount of the debt, name of the creditor, and notice of your right to dispute the debt within 30 days. [15 USC 1692g] § 809(a)
13. Ignore your written request to verify the debt and continue to collect
A collector can't continue to collect on a debt after you've made a written request to verify the debt as long as the request was made within 30 days of the collector's written notice. [15 USC 1692g] § 809(b)
14. Continue to collect on the debt before providing verification
After receiving your written dispute, the collector must stop collecting on the debt until you have receieved verification. [15 USC 1692g] § 809(b)
15. Continue collection attempts after receiving a cease communication notice
If you make a written request for the collector to cease communication, it can only contact you one more time, via mail to let you know one of the following: that further efforts to collect the debt are terminated, that certain actions may be taken by the collector, or that the collector is definitely going to take certain actions. I just got this phone number and I get at least 5 calls a day from this number. I owe nothing! I put myself on the no call list and yep they still call!

I don't think this is a bill collector. I live in Toronto, Canada and don't have any outstanding debts, so I don't know why they'd cal me. A pre-recorded message says I'm being connected to somebody and then they just hang up. It happens around the same time everyday
