Actually, anyone can spoof caller ID nowadays to make themselves look like they are calling from any number. If someone calls you and harasses you, and you feel threatened, you should call the police, just like if any call comes in. If it becomes serieous enough, they can get a subpeopna and get the call logs from google and investigate the matter further. Caller ID is a conveniece, not something you can or should rely upon for call critical information. If you need that level of security, pay for a service that gives you ANI information instead.

Consider it the same as you would a blocked or out of area caller id call. You don't know who it is until you answer the phone, and if you are too afraid to answer the phone in your own house because it could be the boogy man, well I find you really pathethic.

Prank calls will likely come from this number, as its a free service with a limited amount of anonymity, about the same amount that someone would get if they were to just dial *67 before they dialed your number to block their caller ID.

Stop taking your phone so seriously, sure you can get all stressed out and shat brix, or you can laugh it off and get on with your life.  Your choice about your emotional response is yours, quit blaming the world for it.

This number just called me as well, 11:14 pm.  It was some older guy's voice and I couldn't quite understand what he was saying but I could tell it was some F'd up stuff.  If it happens again I'm blocking the number.

i got 11 missed calls from this number within 10 minutes earlier... what im wondering is no matter where the call is coming from will it always say escondito?  i have international friends, one particular friend im not sure if they took their life... i may have missef some important info... is there a way to determine WHO used the gmail call option?

They called me from this number late last night 3 times. I could not hear them and then they left me a threatening message, cant wait for them to call again. I hate these kinds of pranks, but I will get to the bottom of it and post my findings.

These calls are originating from Google's new GMail phone service. You should try it. It's free to make calls to the US & Canada, supposedly until the end of the year. I tried it this morning and it works great!! You need to make sure you have both a microphone and speaker for this. I used a cheap headset, which has the earpiece and microphone combined. The person I tested this out on said everything was perfectly clear and just like a regular phone call, although we did hear a couple of beeps over the line. I don't know what that was about, but it wasn't bothersome. Those of you with a GMail account should give it a whirl. I plan on using it for anything long distance, mainly because it's free. Also, I don't work for Google or any other entity that has anything to do with internet. Just trying to be helpful.

This is totally a miss use of a service..im getting pranks from this number. Has to stop!!

This is a spoofed phone number.

People!! Read my post above about Google. If you are getting calls from this number and no one is there, it's quite possible the caller probably doesn't have something configured right. I didn't have it set right the first time I tried to use it. It's also easy for anyone to abuse this service. I agree, but it's not a spoofed number or anything like that. Read thru the posts before getting your undies in a wad!!

I've been using this off and on since Thursday or Friday, having made several calls.  None of the connections has been good from the other person's perspective.  I have been able to hear them well, although I have to use my headphones because it's too quiet on my notebook speakers.  It has broken up a little, but not too badly.  The people on the other end, though, have repeatedly told me that they hear other voices, or that it's echoing back to them.  They also say that parts have cut out.  I'm guessing it's free to help them work out the bugs.  I know I wouldn't pay for it as it is.

Hilarious!  Just had a call from this number to my office phone - at an RCMP detachment.  They hung up before I could finish introducing myself.  May have to start answering all unknown numbers that way...

I got a call from this number three times in 3 minutes and when I answered it they said I'd won something at Lobo Stadium. I am a UNM student but I know this is crap especially since it came at 11 pm.

called twice at about 9 this morning... said he saw some dodge part on craigslist, funny thing is i had dodge parts on craigslist so i was trying to be nice but he kept cussing me out until i realized he kept saying the same things so its a prank.

It's rly messed up when u get like 15 missed calls from this effed up number where no one speaks rather makes me listen to some l-gaga [***].. who is it calling? and how can i stop it? folks give some real solution damn..

is there anyway that we can find out which e-mail address called us.. like from our call history.. in our g-mail?
