    7+ year old debt
Seriously still trying to collect on debt that is over 7 years old. I am so broke, I can't even afford to claim bankruptcy and I'm on SSI. They know I have zero assets and no "garnishable" income and likely never will due to disability but still they try to call from new and different numbers several times per week.

Stay away from Portfolio Recovery in general. They're a common subject on here and practice dirty business and tricks. Eliminate any way of them leaving you messages to run them off, or start blocking all of their numbers.~I Was Prepared~JustinCase

These people will find new area codes and new numbers to harass you with on a daily basis.  Keep adding them to your reject lists.  My debt is over 10 years old.  Let it go...

Called ... again ... Left no message ... again. I have literally have no unpaid debts from the past or present so suspect they are grasping at straws ... I'm thinking of answering one of these days just to find out ... maybe see if I can file a lawsuit for unlawful harassment!

Unlawful harassment is not the lawsuit you file.  You file FDCPA and possibly TCPA lawsuits.

This is Portfolio Recovery trying to collect on a debt that has long since been paid in full to the original creditor.  They asked me to provide proof that it was paid in full.  I told them to get it from the original creditor.  They refuse and keep calling from different numbers.  What they don't understand is, Mr. Number will block as many numbers as they want to call from....duh.  What a PITA!!!

Very confused...if this is a verified debt collector, than why are they not leaving a voice message? I mean, if you are a real business and no one answers and you have an opportunity to leave a message..why are you not doing that? I guess they must really be the scum that some of these post state.

The debt collection agency portfolio recovery will harass you and they just get new numbers to dial out from. If you're smart... NEVER pay them!! They keep trying to collect a debt from over 9 years ago! Jokes on them though because it won't be paid and unfortunately they cannot go the legal route through courts and collect because of the laws. I keep just keep blocking them.

Similar experience to many others, Portfolio continues to try to collect on an old debt that I paid in full 7 or 8 years ago. I refuse to give them a dime or any of my time discussing it further.

How about making them pay you instead?  Would that not be a better option?  Attempting to collect a debt that is not due is against the law.

Just ignore them. Don't answer the phone if you don't recognize the number. If it's over 7 years old, the statute has expired and they can't do anything.

Ah yes, the old "if it's over 7 years old, the statute has expired" rumor.  Looks like you have no concept of what you are posting about.  Not even one clue.  The "7 years" is the amount of time it stays on your credit report and has absolutely nothing to do with the Statute of Limitations.  No state has an SOL of 7 years.  Further, the SOL has to do with the amount of time they have to sue you, not the amount of time they have to collect the debt, which technically is eternity.  I would suggest that you stop getting legal advice from your barroom buddies and start using the internet to actually learn things before making yourself look foolish.

Get these jokers all the time.  I don't recognize the number, I don't answer.  It's impossible to block them all. I even had one with a spoof number with an area code that is not a valid area code. Verified with my phone carrier.
