I've gotten a call from this number, once last week and again this week. Both times they said that due to my status as a preferred visa or mastercard holder I was entered into a sweepstakes. They said I won one of the first tier prizes, a trip for 2 for 3 days and 2 nights to one of 80 resorts of my choosing. They never said anything about who owns the resorts or where they are. They then said that along with that prize they were going to give me 3 magazine subscriptions (I don't like these magazines) that are free for 60 months. They then said that they would like to toss in a magazine that I could tolerate for $3.50 per week or month, not sure which they said. Basically it was a bait and switch. The first time they called me they did not ask me for my credit card. The second time they called me I told them I did not want to place any orders. They said they'll "still love me anyway". Nice thought. I said thank you and I hung up.
My concern is first that the last time they called they identified themselves as Active Periodicals, a company with a really bad reputation and a policy that says buyers are not allowed to cancel their subscriptions. My second concern is that I did not enter any credit card sweepstakes. I have credit cards but don't use them, I use debit cards a lot. Is this for real or a scam?

I know it a little late, but for everyone else, its a SCAM!!!!! SCAM SCAM!!!!!! dont do it! the numbers that they give you to call are invalid, and if you do the math its over 500 dollars that you are paying for mags that you probably wouldnt even read! dont do it! the thousand dollars that they offer is not to a nice gift store its to a crummy one, that has second rate stuff! its not worth it!
