They are a collection group that calls themselves attornyes but they buy bad old debt from 7 to 10 years ago and make harsh threats to the person by making up court dockets and stories....   Do not give in to this they are liars.

Looks like this junk debt buyer changed their name again. Means they have been SUED AGAIN for FDCPA violations.

    from www.budhibbs.com
    http://www.budhibbs.com/collectorpages/stanley_weinberg.htm
Stanley Weinberg & Associates is NOT a law firm, it is a collection agency, where FDCPA complaints abound. Earl & Lilliana Shields are known to let their collectors get way out of hands as my complaints on them are always high. The good news for consumers is they are like the big dog who barks a lot, they make a lot of noise, however they are ill equipped to do much beyond loud, annoying ranting and raving. These are excellent folks to counter-collect from (they pay you!) because they still have deep pockets, so tape their calls (where legal). NEVER give them your banking or credit card information and make them validate each and every claim.

This agency I predict may not survive the down turn in collections; they like the over the top yelling, screaming, making threats, intimidation, harassment, etc. I predict they can be sued into obscurity, so take advantage of that.

left my husband a message @5:12pm on our machine saying the exact same thing as "Tricia-17 June 2009" except in our state.  Sounded like a recorded message.  Looked up the area code and saw it was in O'Hare Chicago Ohio area. Called back left message with "case number" requesting a return call immediately.  Felt unformfortable, so decided to look up "Earl Shields" on the internet and found this.  neither of us owe anyone anything, what are these people doing?

Also got a call from this crooked place! Atty Earl Shields, bullcrap. After talking to my husband and looking up my state staute of limitations, we soon came to the conclusion that this was probably a scam. I am even more convinced of this after reading quite a few posts that say the same. She didn't leave her name, only that a suit has been filed against me from a balance that fell off my credit report last year and that it has been filed with my local municiple court and the sheriff's dept will be calling me. The state says creditors can only attempt to collect for 6 years and it has been 8. DO NOT give these people any financial information. The best part....if I wanted them to represent me, it would be a fee of $2000 and double the actual balance, but to settle I could pay the original amount.

Got a call saying there was a claim against me and a case #. I was told to call Peter Schultz I called back and they said it was from Sprint from 2001 -(I never had an account with them) - and they said if I gave them my debit card over the phone I could setlle a $600 debt for $400.  I told them I was not born yesterday and to mail me the claim so I could review with my lawyer -  The scary part is they probably make so much $ ripping innocent naive people off and scarier still that hey have a lot of my personal infomation -Watch out for them and do not tell them anything about yourself

Just got a call from "attorney peter schultz"   about a bad debt from a credit card 14 years ago..... ...I NEVER HAD A CREDIT CARD...have police reports and a list of other things I have done to try to deal with this...He is SO hateful ! !   I asked for documentation from his "law firm".. said all they could do was summons me...I said ok...see ya in court.....PLEASE BE CAREFUL ! ! ! ! ! !

    Unbelievable
My friend in PA got the same from "Peter Schultz". Was told the summons was coming unless a credit card number was given. Here's where it gets really scary, she also got a phone call from someone claiming to be the chief of police in our town. The caller ID on her cell came up with the actual police dept number. However, upon speaking to the chief, he never made that call! So somehow they are making cell phones show numbers that aren't really theirs. So not only are they scamming, but now they are impersinating police officers to make it appear more legit. I'm so glad people come on here and post this stuff, because I can't tell you how many people it has saved from being scammed!!

Yeah I had debts 20 years ago but paid them off 5 years later except for two which were forgiven. They traced my Mom down and told her I was going to be served papers the next day but wouldn't tell her what kind of debt nor the name of the company.  They called her every month for the last 3 months.  My wife wonders if they are hoping she'll pay the so called debt.

My MOM (!) received a call from these people. They left a message saying that there had been a claim filed against me with the State of Texas and that a sherrif would be at my (which meant my Mom's b/c that's whose number they had!) door within 24-48 hours - I was to call the 773-262-7158 and speak to some attorney....I freaked out b/c I had no idea what this was about - not to mention my mom freaking out - so googled this number and found this useful info!!! That's why I always say never answer any calls with an unfamiliar number!!!

SCAM ALERT!!!!!!This place is now going by the name of Roger Epstein Attorney.  BEWARE!!!!!!!

They called my mother-in-law for my husband, broke FDCPA regs and discussed personal info with her about some fake Sprint bill they claimed my husband owes.  My husband hasn't had a Sprint account in 7 or 8 years. In that time, a Sprint bill has never been posted to his credit report, no collection calls, no letters. This is SUCH a SCAM! They said he could pay $256 or $2000 and get served by the sheriff. WHAT?!?! Come on. DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION.  I tried to call them back so I could get more info make a formal complaint and ended up in a screaming match with a foul mouthed man named Bill. It really freaked me out!! He wouldn't let me talk to a manager, wouldn't let me talk to "Mr. Epstein" said Mr Epstein wasn't responsible for making the call to my mother-in-law so why did I want to talk to him. REALLY? He's the owner of this supposed law firm, and he doesn't want to know one of his employees broek the law? IT IS SUCH A SHADY SHADY "COMPANY" (if you can even call ti that).

    Here's what you do:

First, STAY OFF THE PHONE! They are trying to coerce you into paying a time-barred debt that is uncollectable in a court of law.

Second, go to this website and look up the statue of limitations for the enforcement of collection of debts in your State:

    http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/statue-limitations.html

Third, send them this cease communication letter VIA certified mail with return receipt requested. Keep copies of everything you send:

    Today's Date

    Your Name
    Your Address

    Collector's Name
    Collector's Address

    VIA CERTIFIED MAIL

RE: [insert account number or name of account or name of debt]:

Dear [insert collector's name or company name],

This letter is in response to your [letter dated xx-xx-2005] (copy enclosed) or [phone call on xx-xx-2005], concerning the collection of the above referenced [account or date].

I do not believe I owe what you say I owe therefore I dispute this debt. I am well aware of my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and my state laws so I hope to save both of us a great deal of time by letting you know that not only do I dispute the validity of this debt, I have also checked with my State Attorney General and verified that the Statute of Limitations for enforcing this type of debt through the courts in (insert your state or the state in which the contract was signed) has expired. Therefore, should you decide to pursue this matter in court I intend to inform the court of my dispute of this debt and that the "statute of limitations" has expired.

This letter is your formal notification that I consider this matter closed and demand that you, or anyone affiliated with your company, stop contacting me regarding this or any other matter except to advise me that your debt collection efforts are being terminated or that you or the creditor are taking specific actions allowed by the FDCPA or my state laws.

Be advised that I consider any contact not in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act a serious violation of the law and will immediately report any violations to my State Attorney General, to the Federal Trade Commission and, if necessary, take whatever legal action is necessary to protect myself. Be advised that I tape record all phone calls and violations of the FDCPA can result in you or your company being personally fined up to $1,000 per incident.
