I have received  3 calls from this  number. On the caller ID it shows DA Services. They have called at random times. One was in the evening, one was at 8 AM on a Sunday morning, and one this morning at 8:45 am.The first time they called, a guy asked for me, but he couldn't say my name correctly. Then he told me how the call would be recorded for quality purposes.Next, he said he needed to verify information before we could proceed. He started quoting my address, so I just hung up. I wasn't going to verify ANYTHING. I figured it was a scam. When the woman called me on a Sunday morning, I wasn't even awake. I chewed her out for it , for calling so early, PLUS on a Sunday morning, when there is church.and told her to take me off her list and hung up.I didn't answer the call this morning.

This person called wanting me to verify my last 4 of SS#, I refused and said I don't give that info out.  Wanted birthday verification, I again refused.  Wanted address and once again refused to verify.  I told them you have my number that's enough verification and demanded to know what this call was about.  She said a debt collection, I advised her I had everything paid up to date and if there is a problem with something they can mail me a letter.  She stated that I had to verify my information...I said this number is a scam and fraud as I have an app on my phone that gives me reports for these kind of calls.  She said this is a ligitimate call and we need to verify your information.  I finally said I'll verify and my verification was this, "F#&K OFF!  I'm not giving you [***]." And I hung up.  Been two days since I've gotten a call from them

No problem, since they talked to you, they are now required to do this since it is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Using the information CWG40 has provided on page one:

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/
    http://www.consumeradvocates.org/find-an-atto ... tates_value=All

Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

I suppose these mutts must have nothing better to do.  The other day they called from 773-295-1821.  Today from this number.  The woman, --did not catch her name in the voicemail, too rush and inarticulate, not to mention there was background noise that sounded like daytime TV --  said it was D&A Collection Services calling regarding a debt and wanted a callback to 888-528-3691.

The caller's voicemail message does not indicate to whom they wish to speak, nor is there any other information provided specific to the target of their call, other than their call is concerning a debt in collection...

In the past, before cold-calling a telephone was so prevalent, I was hounded over a debt incurred by someone I did not know but who had a similar last name.  Sheesh.  This is maddening when the mutts persist in harassing a person who does not have a debt in default. At least we have call blocking features available today.

In any event, do not answer these calls and if you find that you have answered a call from these people, do not say anything, just hang up.

In a nutshell, if a person has an outstanding debt that is in default -which I do not-, the company and/or assigned collection agent should contact the debtor by mail, preferably registered mail with details on the debt, the name of debtor and creditor, the account #, the amount in default, dates, etc., etc., etc.  Then the opposing attorneys can pencil-whip each other.

This is undoubtedly misdirected harassment or an outright scam .

Since it is not required by law for them to send a letter prior to first contact and it is certainly not required for them to send a "registered" letter (since that is for packages and other items of value) then why would they do that?  How did attorneys get into this already?  Maybe you should contact an attorney to get actual good advice before giving lame advice out over the internet?

You will need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested). If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt, and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

In re Alfred Stanley Dynia, 14PR0079
(One of multiple dispositions on this case)
    Disposition:    Probation
Effective Date of Disposition:    May 2, 2015
End Date of Disposition:    May 2, 2016. Probationary condition(s) satisfied.
Definition of Disposition:    Probation reflects a determination that the lawyer has engaged in misconduct, but also a finding that the lawyer may continue to practice law pursuant to specified conditions under ARDC supervision without posing a risk to the public, profession, or courts. As a result, the lawyer may continue to practice law during the period of probation, subject to the conditions imposed by the Court. Probation may be ordered for a specified period of time or for a specified period of time and until further order of the Court. Probation may be ordered in conjunction with a suspension, which may be stayed in whole or in part. A stay defers that portion of the suspension as long as the lawyer complies with probationary conditions. If the lawyer successfully completes probation, the lawyer is not actually suspended during any portion of the stayed suspension.

In re Alfred Stanley Dynia, 14PR0079
(One of multiple dispositions on this case)
    Disposition:    Further suspension stayed
Effective Date of Disposition:    May 2, 2015
End Date of Disposition:    May 2, 2015
Definition of Disposition:    The Supreme Court may order that, following a suspension, a further period of suspension be stayed, typically in connection with an order of probation. A stay defers the further suspension period as long as the lawyer complies with probationary conditions. If the lawyer successfully completes probation, the lawyer is not actually suspended during any portion of the stayed suspension. Under those circumstances, the stayed suspension does not affect the authority of the lawyer to practice law and the lawyer may practice law during the stayed suspension. If the Court determines that the lawyer has failed to comply with probationary conditions, the Court may vacate the stay and may require that the lawyer actually serve the full suspension.

Disposition:    Suspension for a specified period
Effective Date of Disposition:    April 2, 2015
End Date of Disposition:    May 2, 2015
Definition of Disposition:    Suspension for a specified period reflects a determination that the lawyer has engaged in misconduct and that the misconduct warrants an interruption of the lawyer's authority to practice law during the suspension period, which is a fixed period of time identified in the Supreme Court's order. The lawyer is not authorized to practice law during the period of the suspension.
Information:    Mr. Dynia, who was licensed in 2005, was suspended for five months, with the suspension stayed after thirty days by a one-year period of conditional probation. He mismanaged certain real estate escrow monies that he was supposed to hold in his client trust account. The suspension is effective on April 2, 2015.

As to the caller's identity, I'll guess it's among several aliases of one payday loan thug shop, as follows:

Eastern Asset Solutions / Shapiro & Associates / Shapiro Law Office / Regional Express Courier / Regional Express Services / Regional Processing / Westford Portfolio Management
    * also related to Dynia & Associates and the familiar "ACS", usually short for Affidavit Consolidation Services, a name long associated with the South Asian PDL fraud gangs.
