It starts from the time you stopped paying the debt check with your state on statute limitations.  If  you were living in another state when you opened up the credit line the company has to file in that state so check both states.  Next time they call and you pick up do not give them any info and tell them to send them a detail statement on what they presume they owe, bet they never bother you again. Most banks write off the bad debt and then sell it to a collection agency who pretend they are representing a bank.  Only two companies that stick at it is Sears and JP Morgan, they just do not give up easily and will try any tactic they can.

Im off of work today, so called them 20 x already and hung up on them when they answered finally.  I hope someone enjoys the hangups. I have lots of roll over minutes expiring every month, hitting redial watching tv is easy enough. Pests!

I received a call from this number on Sunday afternoon.  The caller said for me to call him back after 8:00 central time on Monday.  First off ... I'm not calling a long distance call to someone I don't know, no matter what might be the problem.

I have had my current telephone number for about 12 years.  The number use to belong to a whole family who never paid their bills.  They have even charged long distance calls to my telephone number after I was given the number.  They are related a cousin of mine and so I won't prosecute; and Verizon keeps giving me credit for the long distance calls they make.  I receive calls from their creditors all the time.

Somehow GE Money Bank entered my telephone number in their system for a man who lives in another city, but who has the same name as I do.  It appears that he does not pay his bills.  I receive calls from his creditors all the time.  Thank you GE Money Bank ... I have since closed my JCPenney account, and my Lowe's account and will not open an account with any store that uses your company much less shop at one of them.  OTHER PEOPLE BEWARE OF GE MONEY BANK!!!

There is a woman that lives in a town near mine who does not pay her bills. Somehow a typo was made in her telephone number and now ....  I receive calls from his creditors all the time.

Here is what I do.  I bought a telephone line recorder and when the callerid shows that one of their creditors is calling back, I turn on the recorder which beeps ever 30 seconds and I tell that the conversation is being recorded and ask them to never call my number again.  And I tell them that the number is on the do not call list.  They usually never call back.

Also I have set my telephone to transfer to my cell phone during the day while I'm at work. The cell phone has the great app; Advanced Call Blocker.  It blocks all calls not in my address book, but allows the caller to leave a message.  If I don't know the caller I delete the message.

Hey you piece of [***] debt collector, the only debts I have on my school report are a federal student loan that I pay every month and a school debt that I'm paying off slowly because my dingbat mother couldn't be bothered to file her 2007 taxes, so I went to classes thinking it would be covered by financial aid and turns out my mother didn't file and I was a dependent student at that time. Yet, I'm slowly paying off both the school debt and the federal student loan slowly.

I do not own anything else, there is no reason for LERS to call me. I owe no other debts.

You know sometimes people get called just because they have the same phone number as someone who actually owes the debt, especially with cellphones.

There are people who have paid off the debt and still get called because some third party bottom feeder wants to make money and make people think they owe money.

If I truly owed money this LERS would have sent me notification by now of the debt I owe. They're supposed to do that within a week of the 1st call they make.

    Consumer replies to Me...
Wow, the loser named 'Me' is a total [***].  What an ignorant assumption, but then again that does not surprise me because the only people that work at collection agencies are ignorant [***] that can't get a real job.  They prey on those that have fallen on hard times.  Yes, there are SOME people that borrowed more than they should have, and then there are the millions and millions that have been laid off or had to take huge pay cuts.  My industry had the government come in and screw things up to the point where all of us had to take a 40% pay cut.  Do the math [***]....if I am making 60k an year for several years and then drop to 36k a year, how is that MY fault?  How do I pay all my bills after a loss in income like that?  What, I should just walk away from my house?  Should I stop feeding my family?  It is not like I could just sell my house, because that lost value too.  I would have to come to the table with money I do not have.

Therefore, I pay what I can, the necessities.  I pay the mortgage, I keep the utilities on, and I keep food on the table.  We have not had a family vacation in over 5 years.  Both of our cars are 10 years old.  I have business expenses that are not just going to go away because the economy went in the tank.  I tried everything I could to work out deals and every single one of my CC companies said 'no'.  They refused to work with me, so %$^& them!  I tried to do everything I possible could do, but they refused.  Two of them tried to take me to court, so I went and fought them and won.  I showed proof I tried to make payments and I had taped phone conversations (which are legal in my state) that I tried to work out a deal.  The judge threw both cases out and told them not to file again or he would throw them out again.

So, what do they do, they sell the debt to POS like this comapny in hopes they can collect anything.  LOL, I tried to give you money you idiots, but you refused.  Now, you are willing to settle for 25% of the debt.....idiots, they are all idiots.  Why do you think we had to bail them out in the first place?  Because their companies are run by idiots.  When you refuse to take a lower payment from a customer and then are willing to settle for 25% of the debt 2 years later, that is just idiotic!!!!!  They would have received a lot more money then that had they accepted my deal.  Eventually, I will get back on my feet and I would have started paying more.  But now, they can go screw themselves for the way they treated me and how they tried to handle it.

who are you now  (to debt collectors)
caller id-lers-773-380-3199 (from 'hank samon');  another call from #888-306-0428-from a 'richard silver'--same voice for both.    Leading edge recovery solutions for both #s.  fdcpa violation-if they call on sunday, call more than once a day, more than 17 times a month (like each day-harrassment); if they're affiliated with nco I wouldn't be suprised-oh, they are.

It does absolutely no good to report it to the do not call list. I have contacted them repeatedly, all they do is put it into a database. That is why these people continue to call, they know our government does nothing about it.

This is definitely a collection agency. I owe nobody and have no debt so the daily calls are getting old. They do have a web site at http://www.leadingedgerecovery.com/ and there is a form to fill out in the "Consumer Help Center" under their "Contact Us" menu that should allow you to stop receiving calls.

    Hi,
My name is Vanessa Wilkens, call me back at 888-306-0497. But the call came from 773-380-3199. There was a long silence before and after she spoke, as if the line was just dead air.

You will find they eventually quit calling if you leave it to question if you are even at that number. Just leave your phone in the standard answer of your number and leave a mse. Don't tell them who's cell or residence they just called. That tells them they are on the right tract at the start so they try harder.

Also remember there is a glut of these bad debts out ther like never before in history so don't be an easy target. They will find plenty of those without you being one. They are looking to make money so jumping through hoops costs money.

I just got a call from this company, but didn't answer because 90% of the calls we get are those scam calls that claim to lower your credit card interest. They left a message on the machine and said they were looking for my brother's wife's sister, who has never lived with us and I've only ever even met once. I have no idea how they got this number for her, but I doubt they'll believe me if I tell them that. I don't even have her phone number, since she's still pretty much a stranger to our side of the family.
