They follow the business model of Portfolio Recovery Associates, a pure scamming company...hire drones of collectors to harass people at random, and they hope to find old senile prospects who are confused and give in to their harassment and pay them money, perhaps a lot of money and the drone collectors receive a commission.

Really - a nice, VERY long prison sentence needs to be given to these malignant scammers...including the employees who are complicit in these crimes.

yes, Portfolio Recovery Associates masterminded this scam and these criminals are either a branch affiliated with Portfolio Recovery Associates, or copycat thieves.

We got a call for this # (1-775-319-1502) and WE HAD A LIVE PERSON!! (a male), they were asking for a first name of a peson that does not live here but is the 1st name of a a family memeber..most of our extended family have unlisted #'s but we have a listed # and get lots of wierd calls for them.

Numberous calls - no one on the phone

They keep calling me, never leave a message, and I've had enough.

Same as everyone else, I own no one, but they call and expect me to hold for them.I make sure I answer, listen to the recording,then start the fax machine. They get to pay to listen to the screech of my fax when they pick up on their end.

Like everyone else I get calls a couple of times a day from this number, it is really getting frustated.  Does anyone know if there is anything we can do?

If you have no clue why they called, do the following.

On the first call, collect as much information as possible.

Name and account.  go find an obituaries with same first and last name.  Get date, call them back and say they died and you read that x and y name died, as you read it online.

they called me and there is a long pause then a machine asks me to please wait for the next operator and MY call will be handled quickly

A man called from this number asking for my wife. I asked him who he was and he hung up.

I've never gotten a live person to ask what this call is in reference to.  Caller is persistant and never leaves any information other than a generic bill collection notice.
