Don't get me wrong.  Phone scams suck.  Racists suck more.

This is a definite scam scheme ...deceptive telemarketing.   He called and asked for mortgage info. as well.   call phone busters and report this number.  the service provider has been alerted.  If anyone else has received fishing type calls from this number report to phone busters number below.  This number is also using the Service Provider Iristel Inc. 1-800-496-4401 and I have advised them of the activity stemming from this number.

Did some research and found the number is a local number from East Vancouver area.   The calls are not coming from a call centre.  Found out which telephone service provider as well - I suggest placing a call to phone busters to get this person - out of service as they will eventually get information from some poor innocent non-suspecting person.  www.phonebusters.com or call 1-888-495-8501.

Calls from this number 778-783-1190 are coming from service provider Iristel Inc. out of Marcom,Ontario.   They have received several complaints already and ironically this account holder is also a dealer of Iristel Services.  1-800-496-4401.   There are Canadian Laws in place with respect to the handling of telephone services for telephone service providers to abide by and this person's provider is taking this very seriously.   By no means provide any information and file a report with phone busters, the fraud division of the RCMP.

I filed a complaint with phone busters, fraud division of the RCMP.  Posted number above.  The number they told me could also be spoofed meaning that they will take a number from your call display and use it to call other numbers.  This is a deceptive call centre call.

There is also I was told another call going around where the caller says they are from Costco and you've won a vacation and they want your credit card - yeah a big red flag.

Today (Sept 9, 2010) at 12:16 pm I received a call from 778-783-1190. Call display said "Out_Of_Area".  Reluctantly I answered and said "Hello".  It was difficult to understand the male voice with a major accent (which I could not identify) who seemed to mutter.  It sounded like he was asking for "Mrs. [my surname]".  This was odd because my mother is dead and my ex remarried. I asked what the call was concerning. There was a pause during which time I heard strange (middle eastern?) music in the background. The male voice then muttered something I could not understand.  I told him that I could not understand him, and asked him to put someone on the phone who spoke English. After a pause the male voice muttered something I could not understand.  I said "Goodbye" and hung up. That was a weird call.

PS. I am on the "Do Not Call" list but that doesn't seem to be much help.

Ahhhh...so glad that I am not the only one this loser has called.  Wondering why there are this many people complaining and nothing is being done?  With all the fraud these days, you would think that phone companies would be vigilant...or at least somewhat pro-active.. ):(

I am not happy to know that i am not the only one to recieve this call , but relieved to know more about this . Yeah , the phone call was really freaky . Like some kinda east indian reaper of death voice . Caller asks for me Mr.-------- , I say yes , asks again , again yes , then this dead black zone of silence . I hang up . Throw phone etiquette out the window with this tweeb . I like the phone busters solution , this mongoose needs his dialing fingies tasered .

This number kept coming up on our call display. Finally answered it. It was an East Indian saying that they were in the neighbourhood doing some work. I told her to stop calling this number or I would report them for harassing us. No more calls.

At 12:41 today (Sept 7, 2010) I had a call from 778-783-1190.  I picked up and said "Hello". After a brief delay a man with deep voice and foreign accent (eastern Europe or middle East) asked to speak to Mrs "[my Surname]" which was odd because my mother is dead and my ex re-married.

I asked who was calling and the purpose of the call. There was another pause, about 5 seconds, during which I heard other voices and music (which I did not recognize) playing in the background.  The caller muttered something I could not understand.  I asked the caller to put someone on the phone who could speak English.  After another pause the caller muttered something again so I picked up my metal coach's whistle, blew into the phone, and hung up.  

I'm on the "Do Not Call" list and use my metal whistle for back-up protection.  I encourage others to get a whistle for this purpose.  :)

I get this [***] calling me all day long, I never answer it.  This prick just called me and it's 9:05pm.  What kind of loser keeps doing this?   My friend have this same Prick calling them earlier this evening, so she called the number back, she got a message saying - in an East Indian accent " All Agents are busy, please leave a message"   so my friend left them a nasty message.

These guys must've taken a break during summer.  Thought I was rid of these *ssholes but nope, got a call today.  Don't answer, let machine take it.  Never leave message.

They've started calling here lately too...blocked it as of today.  Picked it up once and heard a pause, then someone started to speak so I hung up.

Another call from THE A**HOLE.  Wish he would get a life.

I have received calls daily from this number like many of you guys. How do I block it?

This number has been calling here about once a day for a couple of weeks.  If I pick up there is no one on the other end.  Sometimes a little music or silence and then it hangs up.

What an annoyance.  Wish I knew how to block calls from this number.

Once a week some dork calls me from that number , I say they have wrong number and then who ever that turd is tries to rope me into an answering question game. This time, just a few moments ago , the same thin happened, .... I told them to [***]-off and hung up .  Them , who ever doing this is committing is a form of harassment , report them !

Another call.  I pick up and immediately hang up.
