These people are total crocks and I am reporting this jerk to the Bar!!  They sent a garnishment with an inflated balance to my employer so they could ever collect and then return the money when they wanted to.  When I requested a correct balance be faxed they refused to send it.  Tell me that's legal!! I wish I could see him face to face just one good time!  So glad that people reap what they sew!!!

I am a single mom, he is taking $280 every two weeks out of my paycheck, he does not care nor wants to work me, on top of that i have another one coming on which I asked to make payment to prevent it from going into garshniment as well, and they told NO, they want me to stay in garsnishement for years unless I declare bankruptcy over to hospital bills, I dont think is fair, with the stress Im going tru I prolly endd up in the hospital again! this is bad, people shouldnt be treated like numbers.

I made arrangements with H Kent Hollins to have a St. Francis Hospital bill paid via automatic withdrawals from my checking account. While I was in the hospital, they stopped taking payments from my account, called my account in default, and sued me. When I spoke with their agent, Kara, she said that I should have noticed that my checking account had the extra funds and immediately contacted them.

I did nothing to violate the terms of the agreement. They stopped the automatic payments. I have come to wonder if they didn't do that so that fees and interest could be added.

I offered to pay the account in full, minus the fees and interest that they unneccesarily created, and Kara said that the offer was unacceptable.

I urge those who have had problems with H Kent Hollins or Kansas Bureau of Collections (which are the same collection agency) to report those problems to the Better Business Bureau and to the Kansas State Attorney General.

I never resisted paying this bill. I cooporated with H Kent Hollins agents fully. They dropped the ball and decided that I should pay for that.

I will never again use St. Francis Hospital in Topeka because of the unethical practices of this collection agency. I warn you to avoid St. Francis Hospital or any business that uses H Kent Hollins as their collector.

Obviously you have never been in the situation that so many others find themselves in, so thank God for that.  There are some very evident illegal practices being done by this firm. I had to make a complaint those with higher power and all of sudden I'm handled differently and treated like a human being and not an animal.  Pray that you never have to be put in this situation but life has a way of making us eat our words. sad to say but yes it is legal.  last october i was unemployed - my roommate paid their half of the electric and my mom covered my half.  I went to the bank to deposit the amount (cuz we had the payments automatically taken out of my account) only to find out that hollins took the whole amount out leaving me with 2.00 only 4 hours later.  the amount I owed hollins on that bill was 113.67 -- he took 345.00 to cover the costs he had filing papers in court. // I have 5 accounts at hollins office and I admit I know those people the money.  What I dont like is the way hollins does business.  I send a payment of somekind (10.00-50.00) on all my accounts every month.  Most my accounts I haven't received a statment for in 9 months so I don't even know if what I claim I owe is the right amount.  I have paid off 2 accounts and have yet to be sent any kind of notification that I did indeed settle my balance for that particular bill.  There was one bill, i gotta love this one, that was for a parking meter ticket.  I never received the parking ticket - don't even know if I do indeed have the parking ticket -- received a letter from hollins A YEAR after the ticket was supposedly written.  I sent him a check for the original amount of the ticket stating my extreme unhappiness at the fact I didn't even know I owed that money ----- that was Sept of 09.  Feb of 11 I received a statement showing I still owed the other 60.00 on that account.  How can someone go 17 months without contacting you to let you know no compromise will be made and you do owe that money?  Even if you do infact owe the money, doesn't mean the company has to be slim balls.

Okay Mr./Ms. Hotshot.  What about those of us that are responsible and are indeed trying to take responsiblitly for their debt?  For instance, hey, how about me?  I was unemployed from 04-09 to 10-11.  In Nov of 10 I found out I had a serious medical situation and needed immediant surgery.  At this point I already had at least two bills turned over to Hollins and was still sending in monthly payments even while being unemployed.  Every month I sent a letter stating I was taking ownership of my debt and doing the best I could to get it paid off.  When my surgery came around guess what --- I left the hospital another $1200 in debt.  Great right?  Well I'm sure you could see this one coming......three of those bills are now at Hollins.  I send a payment of $50.00 on EACH one of my bills EVERY month.  Not much you might think but you know, I had until last week 5 accounts at his office -- that makes $250.00 A MONTH to collections payments.  As of last week I paid off 3 so I am now down to 2.  What I don't like about this company is that they are sneaking and slimy and can't just do good standing business practices......like send statements or letters of final payoff.  They are sneaking and eventhough you are making payments the best you can and sending letters and proof of unemployement or whatever they go behind the scenes and take money out of your bank account that you need to live on without caring about what it does to you.  So don't get on your high horse and assume that EVERYONE with a debt in collection is a deadbeat trying to get something for free and not taking responsibility for themselves.

I was served with papers to attend court in Wyandotte County, Kansas. When I investigated I found that this jerk had won a judgement against me in 2005 for $300 I owed to Providence Medical Center. Six years later I find this out.

I attend the court date and tell them I am losing my home to foreclosure. I agree to set up a monthly payment plan and begin paying. They said that as long as I paid this amount there would be no problem.

Today I am informed that they attempted to take $515 out of my checking account. Because there was not enough money in my account (as I had told Hollins hirelings in February) the bank has my account on hold until there is enough money to pay this lien. In addition to the $215 dollars he added to the amount owed, the bank has charged me $50.

I live hand to mouth. I could not come up with that much money all at once and I agreed to make a monthly payment. Despite my making the monthly payment they stole money from my checking account. Now I cannot pay for groceries or utilities for two more weeks.

He is making his money by lying and hurting the poor who have fallen upon bad times.
I have news for you Mr. Hollins, you are 66 years old and your time here on earth is coming to an end. If not here on earth, then in the afterlife you will have to answer for the illegal means you have used to rob the poor. You are going to come up short, I hope you are ready for that....Our suffering will end after we leave the earth, yours, however,  will be just beginning.

I called these people back, I tried to make payment arrangements.  I went to pay a company for fixing my air conditioner today.  My two grand daughters that live with me and I have been dying because it was not working and I looked up my bank account and this company that I have been trying to work with for a debt that I do not think is mine, garnished all the money in that account and said if I can prove that the deposits were for my gr. daughters etc, they would not take it all.  I have no way to prove that as I had no way to prove that this really is not my bill.  They said an 800 number called me several times, but they did not leave a message or I would have called them back.  I don't understand how they can take all the money you have even if it means you cannot feed your children or provide a home for them or yourself.

That evil human is terrible! He is a nasty attorney.

I was admitted to the hospital last year and came out with a bill of 30,000 which my not so great insurance only paid 3,000 I asked for an itemized bill from the hospital because I didnt understand what I was being charged for that only had the letters OP by it for 12, 500. I called to ask and no one could tell me. The itemized bill didnt explain either so I told  ST John's I wanted the charge removed but of course they didnt. I was also receiving bills from other places .. which amounted to another 10,000 dollars from the doctors. I was sending each medical bill what I could afford each month but I got sued by the Hospital.  I had already started bankruptcy and went to court , came them my lawyer name and told them to contact him , I was told I still had to make payments and If I didnt they would garnish me.  I passed this on to my lawyer and said he would take care of it, but from what I am reading here I think I am going to withdraw my money and just buy money orders until this is settled.
oh yeah ST John's is  is owned by the Sisters Of charity, They turned over a 50 copay on my son to Hollins.

St Frances, Providence and St John's hospitals are all owned by the sister of Charity in Leavenworth. I was making payments and they still turned my account over to Hollins.  I am wondering where is the Charity is?

I never received anything from Hollins until I got a summons to court.

They've never been [***] to me.  For the person who said they've never been to Providence, there are family practices in the extended Kansas City metro (i.e. Leavenworth) whose doctors bill through providence.  If they say you owe them money, ask to whom you owe the money and how much.  Then call that doctor's office or hospital to find out what the charges were for.

Are you INSANE????? They may be nice to you but they are going after people who don't have these bills they are talking about. They were true a**holes when I called and don't even have their sh*t together. The collection letter they sent to my employer says one thing but when i called to sort it out they told me a completely different thing. They are NOT good people. They ARE crooks!

What is a solution to this type of harrassment and when does it surpass the fair debt collection act?
Complaints are true that they verbally agree with you but still pursue measures outside of the agreement.
Does anyone really have a solution or is this just a complaint that we all have together?

I paid them off and they still are calling me and I owe them zero.

This number calls my kids' cell phone and leaves no message. They know not to answer calls for anyone other than family, but it's still inappropriate for debt collectors to be calling kids who have no debt (and it has been years since anyone else had the number).

I have been getting the same calls and they are for other people KENT STOP CALLING ME I DISLIKE YOU AND EVERY ONE WHO WORKS FOR YOU. I get charged by the calls in and out and I do believe it is illegal to be calling cell phones as well as mine is unlisted how do you call someone who does not even live in your state r area?
