Some really ornery sounding woman keeps calling leaving demands that I call her as soon as possible. She sounds like a [***], so until she stops leaving whiney messages on my machine I'm just deleting the messages. I'm not dealing with that [***]. I also have everything paid up except for an old hospital bill that I'll take care of when I have the money, so if she's not calling for that I don't really know wtf her problem is. And honestly, I don't care. Her and her entire company can go to hell. Some cantankerous cow named Lisa keeps calling. Hi you grumpy old heiffer, if you're reading this as some of your co-workers seem to revel in doing.

This number called my parents house early in the morning. They left a message with my mother asking me to contact an ED Hesson in reference to documents they supposedly sent me. This person has never contacted me before nor sent me any such documents. These people are rude and harrassing innocent people.

I Googled their 800 number and turns out they are a well know debt collection service out of Philly called Academy Collections. Now the bill they have been calling me about is actually legit. It was with AT&T and they (ATT) informed that a past due balance HAD BEEN sent to a collections a few months back. Thank goodness the balance was small amount (under $100) so sorry that any of you have been getting harassed by these people. But I believe this is the same story with many a collection agency. And many times, information in their "files" is very outdated, or when they received your file, the previous "owner" or agency failed to properly document any recent or past payments to your account. I understand everyone's frustrations here!

You should have filed a wrongful termination suit against them. Then in court, all their illegal activities would come out in the open and maybe they'd face their own fines and jail time, as well as getting them shut down. But remember, they can and most likely will start up again under a different name and different names of owners.

I've been lucky, to an extent. We are using a debt solution company and they advised us not to answer the phone when these types of people call. This way I don't have to lie to them. But they call all day. The lucky part for me is they don't start until right after 8am and they stop right at 9pm. I've gotten some with the phone number 000-000-0000. When I don't answer, they call from another number right away. They think they are sneaky. If I had the money to pay these, I would have paid it already. But with the whole sub prime loan scandal (which we bought into), it's thrown our finances as well as our credit down the toilet. Good luck to everyone else going through these nightmares.

The employee wouldn't give me her name, when I ask for her supervisor, she said she was the supervisor.  Told them not to call me at work anymore, she said "go ahead hang up and the phone is just going keep ringing, you obviously don't worrk to pay your bills anyway.  Very rude, threatening and these people are calling at least 10 times a day at work and on my home phone.

The FDCPA has a 1 year statute of limitations. You have 1 year to file a complaint if they violate the FDCPA.

The 30 day notice is your right to disupte the debt and receive validation. You have 30 days from receipt of the 30 days notice. However, the failure to dispute the debt within the 30 days is not an admission of liability.

My parents continued receiving calls from this party and were very harassing for someone they had no idea who it was.  The people were very rude. I called the number for headquarters listed on their web site 215-281-7500 and advised we would pursue legal action of they did not stop the harassment.  I was assured their number would be taken from the data base. Maybe this may help you that get these calls.

One of the advantages of living in Texas is that collection agencies cannot sue.  Only the original creditor can do that.  This number calls me occasionally, but I don't ever answer the phone if I don't recognize the number.  Sometimes they leave a message, and sometimes they don't.  I only deal with original creditors.  I consider collection agencies [***] of the finance industry.

They called me today and left a message saying "they are waiting for some documents."  I didn't know until I read these posts that this is a collection agency.  If they were not so sneaky and lie, I would call them back to see what this is all about.  However, I am pretty sure its against the law for any collection agency not to identify themselves as one and that "this is an attempt to collect a debt..."

ACS - 800-220-0605.  These People continously call my 75-year old father, saying that if he does not get my sister (who died earlier this year) to call them back, they would take him to court. This is a direct harrasment of an elderly gentleman who has lost a child.  

They have called him at least three times during the last two weeks, and even when he tells them that she is dead and no longer available, they continue to threaten him.

He is now getting paranoid everytime the phone rings, and it is adversely affecting his health.

Please go after these financial preditors!

These people keep calling me and harrasing me looking for a friend who put me down as a reference that i havent even spoken to in more than five years, then when i explained that to them, tbe representative turned the whole thing around and made it sound like she had some very important news for me regrding this persons welfare, she made it sound like she had some emergency info to give me about this persons well being.  then when i started asking her questions trying to get some information, hse said she was trying to be considerate and for me to have a nice day, then she hung up.  This is so wrong.

u are wrong on some points. they can sue you if they own the debt. most companies own these accounts.. it is easy to buy debt. once you own it you can do whatever u feel. if they call ask if they are first party or 3rd party.. first party meanes they own it.. 3rd means they are hired to collect it..... you have rights.. the fdcpa covers most of them.. if they send u a valdation letter and u come dont comply to them it means that u owe the debt.. if you contact them within the 30days bye mail.. not phone and write a letter of dispute.. if u dont really owe it... the worst thing u can do is irgnore them.. talk to them, u might get someone who is rude.. but u have to take the chance..

Collection agency calling for Kelly Adamczyk (my name) but different social security number than mine.  Will not let me speak to a supervisor, now they called my husbands ex-wife's house and left a message for me on her machine!!!  This is harrassment, and has to stop!!!  THey reference file #18213880, x 2689, Sherry Crane as the contact.
