Did receive a telephone call from this number on 4/23/14 at 9:35 a.m.  They did not leave a message but it was from the collections department of M&T Bank's mortgage division.  I do have a mortgage with M&T Bank and my payment this month was late and I assume this department was calling in an attempt to reach me.  Since it is a legitimate phone call and it was pertaining to my mortgage, M&T Bank should have the courtesy to leave a message even if it was something as basic as "this is your mortgage company, please call us back regarding your mortgage".  Why take the time to call me and not even leave a message?  I did make the payment a few days later and have not received a phone call again from this number.

My mortgage servicing was transferred ti M&T Bank recently. Since then, they have called REPEATEDLY each day begining right after my due date. They say they will continue to call daily until payment is made even though I told them when payment will be made. This is in violation of NYS debt collection law. I informed them that subsequent calls before given payment date wil be considered harassment. They said they will not acknowledge me ONLY if I send them a registered letter. M & T Bank deserves NO customers.

I concur with all of your posts regarding M&T Bank...  My mortgage payment is behind only a few days, yet I began receiving  calls from 1-800-220-6004 at 08:00 am this morning of which I did not answer for lack of recognition.  They failed to leave a message, but continued to call every 30 minutes for several hours.

I must be the only person who has had a positive experience with M&T.  I was a BoA loan purchase when BoA offloaded their sub-prime home loan servicing.  I have been with M&T over a year and never actually had an issue with calls or anything.  I was recently late and got a call 1 week after my 2 week grace period, which I consider pretty normal.   Before this, I had never been called and consistently run 1-1.5 weeks into my 2 week grace period.  Perhaps because I pay online?

Answered this call and it was from Plain Green Loans, a tribal online lender that operates illegally in many states including Washington.

Got a couple calls from these folks while out of the house and they left no message.  I called them this morning to ask why they are calling and after a few moments if was obvious they were looking for the former owner of my telephone number.  Said they would remove my number and apologized for the calls.  That's it.

Yes these are M&T mortgage collection calls.  They are collection calls but not for past due.  They call you a few days before your grace period ends to make sure you dont pay late.  Its annoying, but on a few occasions I have found it helpful as I was traveling and forgot to pay it.  So it's more of a reminder type service...that you can't opt out of.  Like it or hate it, it is a little above and beyond what any other bank does.  Other banks don't care to warn you because they want the late fee.  M&T actually pays people to make sure you pay on time...so it costs them money to do this.  They would make more money just letting you default a few days and collecting a monthly late fee of about $50.  So dont complain about them being money hungry.

They have called a few times..I generally don't answer unknown numbers.  I did answer this time  n I told them the person they were asking for wasn't here.   LOL.. I own my house free n clear, no mortgage on house... So of course they are telemarketers trying to peddle their business...sometimes for a laugh I recite nursery rhymes to telemarketers n tell them I have a zoo animal...LOL... That I would like to sell to them...an elephant, tiger, or giraffes... Have to have a good laugh now n then!!!

This number just called again...a scam identity artist...the woman said she was from M & T Bank...n that conversation might be recorded for training purposes... Then she said, could you give me the last 4 of your social security number for security purposes...well, I was prepared n only answered the phone because I wanted them to stop calling.  I told the woman, H--l No, H--l No...in a very loud authoritative voice... I then hung up.. The woman was fishing for information to commit fraud. I have nothing to do with this bank n my house is paid for so no mortgage. I hope no one becomes a victim n falls for this line!

    RE-FI NO MORE M&T!!!!!
M&T personnel sound like trained robots. Years ago I sent them all my information to get HARP and they said I had too much money left over at the end of the month. Really? Then a couple of years later I tried to re-finance with them and they said they wouldn't be able to do it due to loan-to-value being too high and my credit rating being just south of stellar. They have absolutely zero desire to help anyone who has their loans serviced by M&T. Nor are they knowledgeable or trained properly about all of the available re-fi options that exist these days without stupid mortgage insurance. It is not in THEIR best interest to help lower your rates or to help you into a government program. Well, guess what M&T, I refinanced so now I don't have to get all of your stupid letters and phone calls, even though I send you messages on the secure message forum stating EXACTLY when my mortgage payment will be paid. And your stupid recording: "The law requires that we may be considered a debt collector........" you can stick that where the sun don't shine sweetheart. Here's my recording: "My freedom in this great country allows me to choose what bank I want to service my loan, and guess what, it ain't you.  M&T is a poorly run, antiquated bank, that will soon be trumped by the more modern, user friendly forms of doing banking.  To the wonderful ladies with zero personality and zero desire to approve me for HARP and to the wonderful ladies who decided that the numbers just didn't work out for me to re-fi with your lousy, bank.  I can proudly say: "Hasta La Vista" baby.

Did not answer the call this morning, but I recently refinanced my mortgage with another bank because M&T would not do the harp loan and they said they have no loan officers to do it. I now have my harp loan and they are out of my life.  This is theonly time I have received a call from this number.

Lady called and left message telling me she was with M&T bank, gave me her number and office hours.

Did not tell me why she was calling, gave me no reason to call her back (didn't even ask me to call her back either). Never even heard of this bank, so you can guess whether I'm calling that number back or not.

I answered and the girl said she was from M&T and then asked for the last four digits of my social security number to verify who I was. I asked her what it was about and she told me she will tell me what it's about when I give her my last 4 digits. I said no I'm good and hung up. I'm not giving out part of my social security number if you cant even tell my why I'm giving it to you.

Not even true. They worked with me to help me get my home loan reduced. I would have had a foreclosure if not for their help! The calls are annoying, but calls can be screened. They are also quite patient if you've fallen behind on the payments, I've found.
