- BigA replies to MikeHuntleton| 1 replyWell the way the post was written I thought it was a person. Never would have thought it was anything in India. "Cindy Swift" would be a lot of fun at a book club meeting. She, "I read this great book last week". Someone else, "Who wrote it?", she "I don't know", Someone Else, "What was the title?", She, "I don't know", Someone else, " Well when was it written?", She, "I don't know".
- MikeHuntleton replies to BigAI did at first too, but curiosity got the better of me and I began looking it up, then the number and found the info about this number as the Bill Care customer support for that company.
Maybe "Cindy" was thinking "swifter" than her fingers can type and thats all she was able to type....lol - Adam replies to CWG40| 1 replyThere are both fraudulent and legitimate versions of these checks. They are easy to counterfeit, but are commonly generated by online/electronic bill payments as well.
If you receive any type of questionable check, take it to your bank and LET THEM KNOW you feel uneasy about the transaction. They have people trained to look for fraud. - BigA replies to AdamI would prefer to use the advice CWG40 gave about getting it to the postal inspectors.

- Frank replies to Jerodd ToddHow many days or weeks did it take for your bank to determine the check was fraudulent???
- BigA replies to Frank| 3 repliesReplying and asking questions of people who posted here many years ago and then spamming said questions will not get you an answer. All banks differ and it depends on how messed up the check is. You should be concentrating on how you are going to pay back the money and the bank fees. Failure to do so may result in criminal charges.
- Frank replies to BigA| 2 repliesI have read all the post about this company. They have been in business for atleast 10 years. And in America we have numerous police agencies that should/could locate the orgin of this number and shut it down. I contacted the police and they informed me no crime was committed. But that hackers may have hacked into this company and sent fake checks and asked people to send a larger portion of the funds to the fraudulent sender. Your bank is responsible or should be responsible for verifying funds before they distribute them to anyone, this is why small business like myself trust/rely on banks, that is to ensure any check deposited are valid. If NOT we don't need banks.
- BigA replies to Frank| 1 replyWell, I can see you know nothing about banking laws. You see, back in the day banks used to hold onto deposits for days or weeks and then rack up lots of money by bouncing checks that came in, even though the money should have been in the account. So the feds stepped in and passed a law that says that banks must make the funds available to you the next day (except for certain circumstances). So, the banks are now complying with the law. Asking them to verify every check deposited within that days time would in most cases be a monumental task that they would not be able to correctly do. Most likely the police are right in that either the company was hacked or that someone simply got the information on the company's bank account and printed up a fake check. Happens everyday.
- Frank replies to BigAThanks for input. Banks should hold and do hold suspicious checks for ten days. I appreciate it when the bank does that. It saves both parties money and time.
- FrankHere is the news ladies and gentlemen. The Online Bill Payment Processing Center, to the best of my knowledge and research, is an legitimate bill pay processing center. The problem is the Center is a target for sophisticated hackers who not only target the Center but also the company for the checking info, routing and account numbers. Then these checks are sent out for numerous reasons purchases, services, etc In most cases the receiving bank contacts the Center and the Center recognizes the account and says the check is valid. However, once the check is received by the bank responsible for the funds that is when the problem starts. If you can not get in contact with the sender of the check then do not deposit the check into your account or ship any merchandise or provide any services. No, make sure you are absolutely sure you know who sent you the check. If you do not, you will be held accountable for the funds when the check is returned as unpaid (RCC Breach). IN short, make sure you know and trust the person who sent you the check, otherwise do NOT deposit the check.

- MichelleI received a returned envelope with my name on it for return address. When I opened it, there was a check with a huge sum on it First of all I would never send a check out to someone I do not know and second I wouldn’t give anyone a huge check like that who I do know. The other thing is I don’t even have that amount in my checking account! This makes me wonder how many more checks out there floating around with my name on it! Tomorrow I’m going to my bank, post office and the authorities. This is ridiculous! I’m a victim of fraud! This is why I don’t like to go shopping on the internet around Christmas time! Never fails every year but this is the most serious one yet!

- KimI received a check from this company for $450 with no stub attached. Real checks come with stubs so I immediately looked up the number and stumbled upon this scam. I don’t know who this is but I will not be depositing any checks in my account.

- Ash| 1 replyjust received a check in the mail for $900, that looks like it came from me for me. It has this phone number and when you call it asks you for a bunch of account info. I kept trying to get to a customer service representative, i spent 15 minutes with probably 10 of that on hold. Never got anyone. The message says its a customer service center but never mentions a company name. The account was labeled PAYMENT, no actual number. 99% sure this is fraud.
