- JohnNow they are calling from a new number. Instead of a human leaving a voice message, it's an automated system. Called them back. Elizabeth Taylor or Helen Keller answered. 1-800-250-5831

- NicoleI have received a few calls from these SOB's and told them to go F themselves. They did have my last four of my SS# which I would not confirm. Got into a verbal altercation with the jerk and he hung up on me so I called back and demanded their name and they kept transferring me to their voicemail so I gave them a return phone number to my local police department....I hope they called, stupid jerks. Beware, such evil in the world just terrible.

- Rob| 2 repliesThe initial call came in at 15:15 CMT on October 16, 2015 from (800) 250-5831 and lasted 21 minutes. I was called and was asked by an electronic voice to verify myself as RobXX XXXX by pressing 1, then told to note claim number XXXX, then placed on hold for approximately 2 minutes. Once answered I was asked again to verify myself by a human, by them asking are you Robert Bray, “Yes”, is your last four XXXX, “Yes”. Then I was asked to hold again, I quickly asked who are you and what is this about. She only just told me that they are Law Offices of Atlantic Group, and they are a litigations company, and ask to please hold. I was then transferred to Camille Summers.
She informed me that the conversation is being recorded. She told me that they are the Law Offices of Atlantic Group claim that they are representing Cornerstone Partners and they are informing me of a litigation they have against me. She then proceeded to inform me that in June of 2013 I received a Payday Loan from Cornerstone Partners. That Cornerstone Partners would settle for $600.00 but will seek $2400.00 in court for defrauding them. I was told that if I do not pay the 600 that I will lose.
They claimed I used several names I never heard of for references, except two I have heard of, my ex-wife, and my sister. They had very old info on me like 12 years or so. an email I never heard of and a 10 year old address on Hosmer in Tacoma WA. They claim since, I never responded to the claims of debt sent to Hosmer I can be charged.
Stated If I do not accepted this settlement that It will become a fraud charge, go to court for defrauding Cornerstone Partners.
I mentioned the FTC and then the response was they are not debt collectors and they are just informing me of option for another company.
I Filed Chapter 13 in 2011 and did not finish until this year, I am medically retiring from the military and currently working hard to correct my credit (and very close to my goal) so we can buy a home, get a job and live the life we feel we now deserve. I freaked out when they called, my first thought was someone has stolen my identity and now we will never get a home. So I told them everything that I felt they needed to clear this up. I was stationed in Korea in 2013 at the time they are claiming. I have otherwise been at Fort Hood Texas for the last 10 years. Furthermore, if I was to apply for a payday loan it would jeopardize my bankruptcy proceedings. So there is no way that I applied or even received a loan with anyone in 2013.
In hindsight it was a bad Idea to give them all my current info and status, but I was sure that they were going to help me. The only conclusion from her was, “I am to understand that you are refusing this and I will inform my client to process the charge’s to subpoena you, you will have your day in court.”
When I asked for Law Offices of Atlantic Group, or even Cornerstone Partners to send me documentation proving I created this debt, I was told that all the documents have been sent to Hosmer and they are not going to send any more, she also told me I will see all the documents I need when I get my summons.

- bencautious replies to Jorge| 2 repliesI had a call on my cell phone this morning from 800-250-5831. A woman, "Donna Brady," said that court action was pending and that $510 would settle my account with Horizon Opportunities LLC for a "payday loan" that I was supposedly late on. They had a depth of information on me and my family (very troubling). "Donna" gave me the number 800-250-5834 as her call back. I've called everybody from the FBI to my local Police and it seems no agency pursues these crooks. Best we can do is post on sites like this. I sure wish I had their physical address...
- WolfmanJack replies to bencautiousActually that is not true. If you had read Tamianth's post you would have found the links to the correct agencies.
- Frustrated| 1 replyCalled stating I owe $875 for an online payday loan! Had a great deal of information including address and last 4 digits if my social. Also called my family members. How do I stop this madness? I've never taken out any payday loans!

- Jo| 1 replyI have been receive these same type calls and threats of court summons if I do not respond for three months. I have talked with them once when I first received the calls trying to find out who they were and why they call and they would not provide me any documentation of the alleged pay day loan I have ever received. I don't know for sure if they have my social but called the Social Security office to alert them of their threats of attaching a summons to my social and name. They do not have my banking info but do have a past account name and number.

- CWG40 replies to maraConsider asking your employer to install a call blocker. That's about all you can do. Never talk to these people. They may think that they can wear you down and you'll pay them something. Don't fall for it.
- CWG40 replies to bencautiousThey are most likely overseas scammers. Possibly located in Jamaica. They use the techniques of US debt scammers.
- CWG40 replies to FrustratedCall blocker might be of some help. Also don't pick up on numbers you do not recognize, or where there are caller IDs that seem odd. Or where there is no caller ID.
Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a DIME until the debt is validated.
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.
If they are bothering you,
Report them:

Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now. - CWG40 replies to JoThese people are debt scammers. Fairly certain they are located overseas. Possibly in Jamaica. They rely on threats. Only a court can issue a summons. A summons is directed against the other party of the lawsuit. There's no way your social security number would be involved. This is just an absurd threat. You can check this out by simply going down to your local courthouse and checking the defendant's civll index. The court clerks will usually be glad to help and are usually quite familiar with these sorts of scams.

I called that number. Said they were "Atlantic". Lady had a strange accent which sounded maybe Jamaican. They also call from other numbers see: 251-301-9797, 800notes. This is a Jamaican (I'm pretty sure) offshore group. They also go by the name Atlantic Processing, Atlantic Law, Global Solutions, GDS, as well as Capital Risk Capital Services and Provisional Risk Services. Also ITS and IPS. They may use other CIDs as well. Their signature phrase when you ask them where they are located is to say: "they are in Miami but have 48 locations in the US". That's the flashing red light to this scam. Lately they've been hasty to add that they don't operate in Alaska or Hawaii.
Right.
Ignore these people and block their calls.

- Tea replies to Tamianth| 1 replyI just got a vm on my cell from "Amanda Peterson". She must have thought my phone # was that of my husbands, and kept saying there are serious allegations against him and that he has the right to settle outside of court, etc, etc. I was worried and scared, until I saw all of these posts. The phone number I saw on caller ID was a local NV phone number, not an 800 number. Great information above from previous poster...and if the phone calls continue I'll be filing some reports. It's threatening though when they say they are going to start seeking you out at your place of employment and at your residence! And it's even scarier that they have so much information about everyone! Don't these idiots have anything better to do....like getting a real job?!?!
