A lady called us from this same company and offered to send us Toner at a "discounted" price.  She wasn't "selling" the toner but rather "re-routing" the toner that she "accidently" ordered for her own company.  Her boss gave her our number and told her that we have the same printer and thought we might like to take advantage of her mistake.  Thier discounted price is more than we can buy it locally. Scam.

I WORK IN A HOSPITAL AND RECIEVED THIS CALL YESTERDAY. I REFUSED TO AUTHORIZE SHIPMENT, BUT THE SCAMMER DID GET OUR PRINTER INFO FROM OUR RECEPTIONIST. IF WE GET THE SHIPMENT, WE WON'T PAY FOR IT. FREE TONER FOR EVERYONE.

All of the above posts are totally true. They said we would be doing them a huge favor saving them a lot in restock fees if they could redirect some of their order to us. Initial quote was higher than what I usually pay...and they are refurbished cartridges. Do not deal with them.

Dataline Technologies also called someone in our company not in purchasing and told them they were going to send in toner and asked for authorization and a name once they got the name they sent in 12 cartridges at $397 each total invoice was $4800 then when you call to send them back they want to charge you a 25% restocking fee for a total of $1,191 or do an exchange for the amount of the restocking fee.

We also got 12 cartridges for 397.00 each, regular price is 97.00. We received an invoice with verbal as the PO number. I located the cartridges and returned them. John has been rude and almost harrassing. They also wanted to charge us a 20% restocking fee which is around 1,000.00. Avoid at all cost.

Female from Dataline Technologies called our receiving dock and indicated that she had toner to deliver and wanted to know where to bring it.  She was informed that all shipments must come in at our receiving dock and must be supported by an invoice or PO number.  She asked the name of the receiving manager.  Soon after the call toner arrived and was places in a holding area pending receipt of PO or invoice.  After a couple of months an invoice arrived that matched the invoices described above.  It referenced the name of the receiving manager and "verbal" as the PO number. The receiving manager is not authorized to order anything and in the twenty years that he has been with the company has never ordered anything from anyone.

My call was a lot like Will's. I thought that I was doing a business a favor and taking an item off their hands that we use all of the time. I was never told that they were refills not originals. When I received the shipment it was 3 times what I had ordered and no invoice with prices. When I opened the box I dicovered that they were refills and I call customer service and got John Turner. He told me that if I returned them I would be charged a restocking charge of 25%. I did get a return authorzation and shipped them back. I received an invoice that was 3 times the amount I had been quoted showing the restocking charge. THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE STOPPED!

This has been a scam as long as there has been copiers.

It seems like what we have here is a boiler room operation that is very sophisticated, and actually calls to find out the type of toner would be the least suspect.

Never, ever,  buy toner over the phone unless it is from a supplier you have done business with previously.

    Greetings,

There seems to be some confusion about Dataline Associates and Dataline Technologies,

I assure you, Dataline Associates LLC, is not the same company. We are an Authorized HP, Lexmark and IBM dealer, we sell 99% genuine Toner products.

I feel for everybody that calls me thinking we are them. Its a scary feeling thinking you got tricked and you are going to be costing your company a lot of money.  Just relax, inform all your department heads of the situation and make sure your receiving department knows to refuse the shipment. The thing about a scam is, it only works if you let it work.

Quite simple, If you receive something you did not order you are under no obligation to pay for it, Inform your Attorney Generals office.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

I got hit with the same $397 per cartridge bill.  It is an outrageous price.  I did end up paying the bill, but I got them to agree to sell it for less than I normally pay and they waived the shipping charges.  I suggest everyone do the same.  We should not tolerate such abusive sales practices.

This is how it happened in our office.  But the company is now identified as Dynatek Solutions.  They are also using phone number of 866-633-8450.  Somehow they obtained the model number of one of our printers.  First caller said that they had a "special" on toner that we had ordered before; implying that we had done business with them in the past.  Call was then handed off to someone in their "credit" department to go over the order.  Shipment came with invoice several days later.  When I saw the invoice I called and questioned the order.  John identified the person in our office that took the calls.  He also offered to playback the second portion of the call.  Basically the rep said that we would be getting shipment with a 375 discount.  Very fast talker.  Rep NEVER gave the order total of just over $4800.  Nor was the $130 shipping and handling charge mentioned.

John claimed that the cartridges were "high" yield of 10000 pages and "better" quality than HP name brand.  He refused to accept return without a 25% restocking fee.  He did however agree to accept return of half of the order and match the best price we could obtain elsewhere for the remaining six.  But nowhere on these "compatible" cartridges is the yield indicated.  Model number is nt-h2612.  Model number on the invoice is MT-Q2612A.  The only HP compatible toner that I can find with the "Q2612A" is around $22 at most retailers.  Even a 12500 yield OEM original (model CE255X) is around $222.

Will report back tomorrow with his response.  I'll bet that a match of $22 will not be accepted.

Feeling a bit foolish now.  I might have jumped to some conclusions a bit prematurely on this.  There doesn't appear to be any affiliation to this post and Dynatek Solutions.  John in customer service ended up being quite helpful in resolving the issue and would do business with them again.

I guess we got the "special" items from Dataline...only $96.00 / cartridge for HP inkjet cartridges we usually buy for about $40.00.  They called our maintenance department.  Sent them back and now they're waiting for their restocking fee.

Just a reminder, do not believe any of the positive posts defending this company. Someone has been doing damage control on their behave within this forums. They are making it seem as if the consumers were now aware they they were indeed their legit toner company. DO NOT BELIEVE THE POSITIVE COMMENTS DEFENDING THEM.

Same story as many shown above.  They (Dynatek Solutions 866-633-8450) called someone in an administrative office and asked her what type of printer she had.  Then they quoted her a price of "three ninety-seven" apiece, implying $3.97, and that they would send a dozen for a total of "forty-eight ninety-four", including shipping, implying $48.94.  She thought this was legit because her small toner cartridges at home were @$5, so maybe by buying 12 at a time could save a dollar or so, and she verified that the shelf life was 3 years to ensure she could use them up in an appropriate time.  We then got the invoice for $4,894!!!  The cartridges were $397 apiece, WHICH IS MORE THAN WHAT THE PRINTER COST!!    What a joke.  I called John Turner, and he appears well-prepared to handle angry customers who have been obviously deceived.  He is very careful about what he says and has a wealth of defenses for what his company is doing.  Luckily we have attorneys on our payroll and this will go away.  If this has happened to you, know that what they do does not constitute a valid contract in certain circumstances (such as this one).  They are quick and ambiguous in their sales tactics for a reason, and this is the most unethical establishment I have had the displeasure to deal with.  It's employees should not like what they see in the mirror, and they should be ashamed.  All IMO, of course.
