As previously reported, called my personal cell for another person. Cell is a reassigned number from a major Canadian service provider and I get numerous calls for the previous customer who did not pay their bills.  Debt collectors call despite being told about reassigned number, as well as, an updated voice message clearly indicating new owner of phone - waste of time for me and for them (make work project - probably get paid by the number of calls and report a higher case load to their managers).  Probably should google client's name and search for them that way.  Number blocked and reported to service provider.

Not intimidated by your threatening letter. Others have tried and failed. You are wasting your time.  Get an honest job.

It's not that they are a fraud or a scam. My friend tried to explain this to me - they are "brokers" of some kind, who buy up old debt for pennies or dimes on the dollar, then set about trying to collect it years later. It's why some of the debts are so old, and also why some of them are already paid off, the "thing the broker bought" was from before the final payment was made. But yeah, they will pretend to be lawyers or a legitimate collection agency, when they're basically just a call centre.

I pushed 1 for English and it transferred my call to some guy, and he said " I know its snowing like cats and dogs outside" and hung up

A phone message claimed I had not responded to an offer that was mailed to me, but that "the offer expires soon" and I had to call at the number for this thread. Never received any letter. The number on the call display was 647-490-4252.

Who is this company that keeps calling my number?! I am steady missing the call... Is it a scam?!

I would think if you took the time to read what is already posted, it just might help you to figure that very question out, as those posts can help you determine if it would apply to you or not.

"only way that the statute of limitations can be brought back into existence is if you acknowledge the debt in writing. '  <--   verbal ack can also re start that but proving you did is obviously harder

"they still have the right to attempt to collect the debt if it is legitimately owed forever until the debt is settled)"  <-- no they do  not have forever..  that is stipulated in statute of limitations,   length will vary by region but none are forever
Even special exceptions like student loans are not forever.

It's  harassment call from collection agency. Do not answer just hang up the phone.

How can we hang up the phone if we don't answer?

I had the same call saying I owe 2k or so and they said something about my home. I dont even own a home piece of sh*t. They said I owe 2k or so from GE whatever the heck that is. Where did thry get my name & address  these SCUM BAGS..

Receive a minimum of 5 calls a day, and yes I answer all of them. It’s an automated message that says to press one if I’m “John Doe” or two if I’m not. This has been our phone number for 6 months. These calls have been going on for several weeks. Each time we press two they promise to take our number off the calling list but never do. The last person I spoke to today told me to pay John Doe’s $30,000 bill and they’ll stop calling. Collection companies should be illegal. They threaten and harass people whether they owe money or not!

This is from Veritas - a collection agency and they don't care what they need to do to get their money.  I consider them harassing now as they are calling my phone for someone I don't know.

The name they are looking for is male and I'm female - clearly my voicemail would tell them they have the wrong person, yet they continue to call two or three times a day.

I've answered once and told them they have the wrong number - I don't know the person they are looking for and they straight out called me a liar and threatened that I would be in trouble for not letting them talk to the person.  You know when they are doing this and using threat tactics - this isn't a reputable company.

Every time they call I block the phone number so they can't call again, yet they just call on a different number.  My only hope is they run out of numbers soon and I have every number blocked.

Received a text from 647-428-9916 saying to call 800 270 9938 regarding a file and that this is not a solicitation.  Guess what?  If you are sending me a text message, IT IS A SOLICITATION.  Oh, and they expect me to reply with "STOP" to opt out - NEVER do this.  By responding, you confirm that they contacted a legitimate number and they will attempt to harass you constantly.  Just block it.  I have blocked both numbers and will continue to block any they try to scam me with.

THEY BOUGHT A DEBT FROM A FINANCIAL Institution TO WHICH TO HAVE NO CONTRACT RELATIONS WITH !!!   WHY ARE YOU CONTACTING THEM or PAYIING THEM FOR THAT MATTER...?

Ohhhhh...so this is how they knew I had a credit card? is it even legal to be looking into your bank info without permission?
