I got several calls from a "Neil Green" at this number - I had a hard time understanding him

he said my IP address has been hacked so I asked what my IP address is and he could not tell me - saying all he knew was it was hacked - duhhh  so I told him that other companies can tell from my IP address what country I am in and you cannot tell me what my IP is?   so he said he wanted to correct things - what things?  Nothing is wrong at this end!!!  he got frustrated and hung up

I received 2 calls from a "restricted" #. (Sometimes, my boyfriend's phone comes up restricted, so I answered) Neil Green claimed he was from Yahoo. I looked up this # while still on the phone. When I called him out on what I read here, he became hostile and hung up on me.

Since the scammers accessed the computer, they probably did one or more of the following:
    • Disabled the anti-virus software
    • Added nasty malware to the computer
    • Copied the Contact List (so they can email your soon-to-be ex-friends)
    • Copied any financial data or passwords they could find
    • Compromised the ID
    • "Zombied" the computer, so it would respond to THEIR commands sent via internet
    • Deleted some important files
    • Asked for money to repair the damage they caused

What can you do immediately after such an attack?
    1.  Pull the cables on the computer, so it cannot access the internet.
    2.  Change ALL  passwords stored on the computer
    3.  Run FULL malware scans on the computer, in "SAFE" mode!
    4.  Change the passwords again, particularly if the malware scans showed anything
    5.  Inform your bank and credit card companies
    6.  Sign up for credit monitoring, and check the status frequently
    7.  You may have to bring the computer to a local repair shop, and tell them the story.
    8.  Tell friends what happened, so they can be aware of strange emails from you
    9.  Plug in the computer only AFTER all the above have been done
    10.  Change the passwords on all online accounts.  Even better - access a "safe", uninfected  computer, and chance your online account passwords RIGHT NOW.

I got a very similar call about an hour ago from an individual of East Indian descent, claiming he was calling from Microsoft. He was claiming that somebody was using my email address and IP address to send spam email and infect others' computers. I asked for more information, from where, who, etc, to which he replied, "California and Indiana." I asked him, "If you are from Microsoft, why is the number on my phone showing up as being from Ontario, Canada??" He tried telling me that he worked for a third party vendor that Microsoft uses. (Um, riiight.) I asked him how he got MY email address. I also asked him if he could give me a number that I could call back to see if he was legit (I never called it....I called Microsoft Corporation to report this and they gave me a reference number to ask these 'technicians' for. Microsoft will NEVER just call somebody out of the blue to tell them that their IP address and or email address or whatever is having issues. The guy was calling from iTess (which has it's own website and everything!!! *shakes head and laughing quietly to myself*) Basically,  I called this guy out on his crap. I am an IT veteran with 15 + years of experience in the field and I wasn't about to let him 'fix my computer'. Oh, and the 'call back number' he gave me was 1-800-274-8151. Be careful people! There are some really slick individuals out there!

Yes I got a call from "JENS" at 800-274-8151.  Can't even form a complete and proper sentence, but they were claiming to be AOL and say my AOL account has been accessed from multiple locations, and then the questions began.  I don't think AOL calls their customers. I just told him that I needed to verify who he says he was and could I have a phone number to call him back at, and this is the one he gave me.
So glad I was able to plug it in and see that this is a scam.

This number is connected to a number of computer support scams. It looks like their own staff comes to this site to convince people the calls are legitimate. The best thing you can do is to ignore unfamiliar numbers and consider looking into a call blocking device.

Yes it's a scam. Rodger from the same # called my home phone saying he was with yahoo, asking for my father who has been gone over a year now. I played a long writing down what he was telling me to do. He was reassuring me the entire time I could fix the problem me was just explaining how. To get to the point they want you to go to www team viewer com . If you go there through the prompts they give you your giving them access to view everything you type and do on your computer system. IE: banking user name and password, credit card info, email info etc...... Do yourself a favor tell them if they call your house again you will call the PD for harassment.

I got a phone call from an unkown number, normally I ignore them. I answered and the guy, with an accent, said something about my google mail being hacked, and getting a bunch of spam. He said for $10.99 he could fix my e-mail. I told him multiple times that I was not paying anything. I asked him how do I know he is who he says, he gave me a number of his companies BBB license number, 0248, and his phone number 1-800-274-8151, he called himself Alex. I guess he didn't like me saying "I am not paying anything if u want to do something that's on u," we got cut off. After getting cut off I tried to look up the number on the BBB website, got nothing, big surprise.
