- doroThis call came in just before 9:00 pm on Friday night. It identified as Applecare on my landline, but I did not answer. A female voicemail message said my system has been breached and not to initiate any activity, but press 1 to be connected to "help." I did not as I had already read that foreign scammers were using legitimate numbers to fool you into either giving them access to your computer or paying them. IF YOU DID NOT ARRANGE A SPECIFIC CALLBACK FROM APPLECARE, DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THESE CROOKS -- THEY ARE NOT FROM APPLE!
- Caller: Applecare (allegedly)
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Granny replies to mopsnetworkWe gave up on Apple when they gave up on us - but (800) 275-2273 APPLECARE still came in 5/19/18 - about noon. So, probably spoofed

- Eddie replies to Linda from ShalerApple will not initiate the phone call. Scammers are spooling this number saying your iCloud or another account has been hacked by people from Russia or other countries. They want you to log into your computer and basically they will steal your identity. Do not call or talk to them. You initiate the call to Apple always. As I said, and Apple confirmed it, Apple will not initiate a call to you.

- AnnoyedLike others here, I've received several calls from this number over the past couple of days. I don't pick up and the robo-message says they are Apple Support and my iCloud account has been breached. Press 1 for Support.
Gee, seems really legit except for the fact that I don't have any Apple products, don't have an iCloud account, and I highly doubt even if I did and there was a problem that Apple would be calling people to notify them.
Guess after all the years of bogus calls saying that there was a problem with 'your Windows account' these scammers decided to branch out and include Mac users. It's nice to see they don't discriminate.- Caller: Unknown Sleezebag

- DanCaller I.D. displays the number for Apple care.
They are predatory callers who try and get people to pay debts that are likely not valid, all with threats of illegal actions on the part of the "debt collector."
Unless we get phone companies to actually verify that the number displayed is correct, these calls will continue. - BenThey called telling me that someone had hacked my apple account.(scam)

They said I needed to change my password. They would not give me directions, but insisted that I make the changes while they were on the phone with me. When I refused, they hung up.

- AmberMy husband called apple. I found the number online, and he called them bc he got an email saying his apple acct had been hacked. The apple number he called, the representative told him to go buy 2 iTunes gift cards $400, and when I get home, call them back and they would fix everything. I was listening bc he had it on speaker phone. I said, oh no we are not doing that, whoever that is lost their mind.

- Word of WarningJust want to provide some information that might help here. This number is the number for Apple’s U.S. customer service, true enough. However, after receiving a message yesterday from this number stating that my computer had been breached and not to go online, I called Apple directly to see if they made such calls.
The customer service rep said, quote/unquote, “No, we’re good, but we’re not that good!” He continued to say how scammers were trying to collect people’s private information, like credit card and bank account numbers, etc. I thanked him for the confirmation and hung up.
Here’s the thing, people, nowadays, these scammers have gotten so good at what they do, they actually can call and have legitimate numbers show up on your caller ID to try to trick you. They even can take numbers from your cellphone and make them show up on your caller ID to make you think you're getting a call from a friend or relative. This is all so that they can get your private information from you!
So, word of advice, don't trust that just because a number you're familiar with shows up on your caller ID that it's someone you know on the other end of the phone. Scammers stop at nothing to get what they want! If in doubt at all, ask a question or two that only that person would know the answer to, or even better, say you have to go and that you'll call them back in a few moments. Then hang up and dial the number for the person/company you thought was calling. You'll soon know whether the call you received was legitimate or not.
And, by no means don't allow anyone who calls you unsolicited to access your computer! Now good luck and stay safe :)- Caller: Scammers
