I don't understand why I can't enter a number into my cellphone and BLOCK it.

I mean why can't i simply go into a Block Number thing, Enter a Phone Number and if that number calls my phone it is BLOCKED so it doesn't even ring at all.

Why can't we do this? You know the technology exist. It would be so simple to write a program that would allow the phone to recognize the incoming number and block it.

"Dumb" phones let u add a number to a block list.  You would think a smart phone would get with the program.  A step backwards, again

I got all bent out of shape about their call, but I asked the wife and she apparently ordered something from them. They should have left us a voicemail, then I would have known what was up. Or they could have had the caller ID say HSN...but that would make too much sense.

It was HSN.  I called them back and someone else has my # on their account.  The agent could not do anything without "their" permission, so there is no way to get them to remove my number from their account!

That sounds WRONG!  HSN is free to use... You only pay for the products you purchase (or that's what I thought).  I would urge you to look into what you're being charged for, and if it doesn't add up, talk to your bank/card service for a chargeback.  

Oddly enough, I got a call from this same number; no identification, just "Toll Free Number" (oh, gee, thanks, I had no idea what '800' meant...).  Keep in mind that Phone Spoofing is always a possibility these days.  They make the caller ID appear to be from a known/trusted caller, literally changing phone number to appear different.  This could be for any reason, from trying to get your credit card info ("HSN"), to someone local checking to see if anyone's home before coming over to burgle the house. It would really be nice if HSN would ID itself properly.  And ya know what?  I think they would.

Received numerous calls from this number even though I am on the DO NOT CALL REGISTER and have an unpublished number.  Most recently, I received a call today, August 5, 2013, at 5:55 P.M.  Caller I.D. stated "Unavailable".  Caller hung up on my answering machine.

That number 800-284-3900 is HSN for sure!! Im glad I called I did in fact have someone trying to make purchases with my credit card information. I verified with my credit card company as well and in fact that was the case. Glad they called me to make me aware. So if you do receive a call better get on top of it especially now a days with people stealing credit card info.    

Caller ID just gave the phone number and "Out of Area".  I had no idea it was from HSN.  I deal with them frequently but almost never by phone.  Orders are placed  and confirmation information, shipping notices, etc are done on-line.  My answering machine was turned off and the phone only rang 3 times.  If, indeed, it was them, they can call back or contact me on-line.  I think it might have been to get a new expiration date for my credit card.  I wish Caller ID would have said HSN instead of "Out of Area".  I appreciate this site.  I go to it whenever I get a call from a number I don't immediately recognize.

11/18 10:01 PST  This is indeed HSN, although not sure why they don't identify themselves right off the bat.  Message left  telling me that an item I had ordered and which had been placed on back-order, was no long available and would be cancelled.  They had already sent me an e-mail to that effect, so not quite sure why they felt a need to also call.

My mother has done business with them recently. But they should identify themselves. Especially considering the scams we both see on here. It is  not worth taking a chance at this day and age.

Agreed.  It does seem like your mother and I have some things in common considering this is at least the 2nd time you have responded to a reported call with a reply describing a similar experience she had had.

It was HSN customer service,but didn't leave message. It was ok, regarding an order I had placed.

BECAUSE NO ONE SAYS ANYTHING and that is disconcerting and  you wonder if someone THINKS you owe them money or something.

I work for HSN, but didn't recognize this number either. That's what brought me here. I can confirm that this is HSN's robocall service to apprise customers of updates, changes, info regarding their accounts and orders. If you don't want to receive these robocalls from HSN, go to HSN.com and set your notification preferences to email or text and they'll do that instead. Simple fix.

Got a messagea on my cell from number this afternoon.  Couldn't make out caller's name, but message said something about the charge did not go thru your financial institution, please call to resolve this situation.  If, in fact, this # belongs to HSN as others commenting on this site have said, I've purchased nothing from HSN in yrs.  The whole call stinks to me.

Two calls today from, I had ordered from HSN and my Costco credit card expires this weekend, they just wanted a good card number.

They put a $4.95 charge on my credit card and I did not talk to these people.  I am reporting them to my bank Mon, morning.

I never answer calls when i do not know who is calling or I will pick up and then hang up on them.
