Missed a call from caller I.D. 800-285-8585. Called back the number and 1st thing: they thank you for calling card services and ask you to enter your Card #. OF COURSE, NEVER ENTER OR GIVE THIS OR ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION OUT. Hit #0 and spoke to rep asking her what company after she asked for my info and replied it was U.S. Bank. After explaining the received call, she stated someone is using our number and "PHISHING" for information to of course defraud the individual.
    Hope this helps!!!
Haven't received a call like this for many years until just a week after checking my credit score.

Left voice mail, said they would lower my interest rates and to act soon because my "eligibility expires soon".  I'm sure this is the first time they called because I would have blocked them if they called before.

Beware - these are scammers  offering to lower your credit card rate, but in effect trying to get your credit card number.    Wanted to lower my rates, but couldn't tell me which card I had, or what my present rates are!     If you want your rates lowered, YOU should call customer service and make the request.   Don't fall for these phoney baloney scammers!

Got a call from "800 Service" with the number 1-800-285-8585.  This is not the first time, but I did handle it differently!

When Natasha asked for how much i owed on my credit cards, I answered $45,000.  She promptly told me I could save $11,000 because they would negotiate with my credit cards.  I told her I was breathing a sigh of relief.  I kinda played it up that this was such a burden on me and that I was so glad SHE could help me.

The reality is that I have no credit card debt.  These scumbags have called before and hung up on me.

She then told me she would give me her number (this was a first!) and her full name and I could then reach her.  While I was getting a piece of paper, she also asked me to get my credit cards.  Hah!  So, here is the info she gave me for Consumer Credit Group in Clearwater, FL:

                   Natasha Detwiler   1-877-596-5535

This is when I told her that this was a scam and that now that I had her info I would be posting it on the internet.  She was not happy and immediately stated they were listed with the BBB.  I looked that up and they are NOT.

I've called the number and it is answered by a human who states "Consumer Credit Group".

So, if you get a call from these idiots you can return the favor by calling them back on their direct line!

Got a voicemail from them with a ring, then some cheesy hold music (sounded like an Ace of Bass track in MuZak form), then a woman said, "This is the consumer credit group, thank you for pressing 1, are you interested in lowering your credit rate?   Hello?   Hello??"

Obviously, no one pressed 1. It's voicemail.

WHEN EVER I am asked for my SSN I ask the person for their SSN number FIRST, you show me yours I MIGHT (NOT) show you mine. The response I usually get is "MY social security number is NOT the subject of this phone call!" To which I always replym "OH IT IS NOW AND YOU ARE MY [***]!" That usually ends the call.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NEVER EVER GIVER YOUR SSN OR CC NUMBERS TO ANY ONE AT ANY TIME ANY ONE WHO ASKS FOR THOSE NUMBERS IS A THIEF AND IS TRYING TO STEAL YOUR IDENTITY!"

    JUST SAY NO!

Got the usual call to "Lower my interest Rate".   I called the 800-285-8585 number back and got US Bank Card Services.  - I did even speak with a Supervisor, they say US Bank is also a NOT making these calls and that their # is being Spoofed.

The fact that I did speak with someone and spoke to a Supervisor lends be to believe that the call is fraudulent I think US Bank is victim of the scam as well.

I did not answer and they left a message that only got the recorded "Have a great day" part onto the machine. I heard clicks for about another minute after that, so I don't know if a live person picked up when they sensed an answer since I let it go to the answering machine. I won't answer or give them any info thanks to all the informative posts here on 800 notes. Thanks to all who share.

They called and I let it go to voicemail.  It was a pre-recorded message, and it apparently does not wait for the beep, because only the last part was recorded.  It said this was my last chance to lower my rates.

You did the correct thing: never give out your SSN unless you know the people; and never give out the three-digit number on the back of a credit card.

Rec'd call, didn't answer. Interesting that it seems to be US Bank customers receiving the phone call. I'd JUST opened an account with them within the last two weeks and haven't had a phone call like that prior to having one.
