- doormanDeliberately missed a call from this number as I often do for unknown callers. Checked for info on this forum to find it was ATT. As I have bundled service with them I called back to ask what the call was about. Turns out it is definitely ATT calling about a promotion. Three months of free tv channels. Cool! The guy I talked to had what sounded like a Ukranian accent or similar. But talking to him was not difficult. We actually had a brief, pleasant conversation about physics. He was very helpful. I like ATT.
- Caller: AT&T
- LynetteThis is ATT, who have somehow gotten my cell number rather than my house number. I just changed some aspects of my UVerse service, so they must have been calling for a follow-up.

- dinah| 2 repliesi just got a text message from 883-772 saying
At&t msg: Ton confirm you u-verse apt for such and such time and date. replay CONFIRM. to reschedule call 1800-288-2020. to reschedule got to att-msg.com/uverse or call above number too....
I have NO appointment set with these phishers. I'm sure they got my number from Comcast.
Now this is an underhanded, low down, dirty scheme and it thoroughly ticks me off. I am not responding at all and maybe the will get the hint. I HOPE they show up at my house! I won't be there! But my neighbor will be looking out for someone. and she's a crusty old broad who will let them have an ear full!- Caller: att uverse
- buggymanEverytime this number calls, it says AT&T. And every time it's a reminder that my bill is ready to view online and is "due shortly". It is always left on a message because I do not answer 800 calls or any call I don't recognize.

- Peggy replies to heagy| 1 replyIt's AT&T calling to verify some type of change or request that you have hopefully made of them. For example, I recently changed type of wireless svc with them. Since this svc order went forth... AT&T has repeatedly called to verify that I; in fact, want the change and that no one is abused my account. I think this is a good thing done by this huge company. These calls not only are expensive for AT&T (I spoke with a live person... after a "robo-voice transferred me); but also, they're designed to protect my privacy and account quality. Again, I think it's a good thing... not a nuisance.
- Not an AT&T customerI received this call at exactly 9:01AM, one minute after an unknown call from an Iowa area code (I live in California), which was strange, but perhaps coincidental. The Iowa number did not leave a message. I did not answer the call from 800-288-2020 but they left a voicemail, stating they were AT&T.
At first I thought it was a solicitation scheme, but I later learned that my mother had given them my cell phone number, so technically it was legitimate; they just didn't know they were calling the wrong number, and continued to call the wrong number since they had it listed in their file for her account.
Apparently, sometimes debt collectors use a spoof-card-like service to pretend to be AT&T in a deceptive and desperate attempt to get people to answer the phone. So, the best piece of advice I can give you, if you suspect a debt-collector is calling, is that you will know when it is AT&T because they will always leave a voicemail (in my experience), which will be pre-recorded, and in which they will identify themselves as AT&T, give specific details about which service they are calling about, and instruct you to call back 1-800-288-2020 for tech-support, or go to the AT&T website. Whereas a debt-collector masquerading as AT&T could not legally identify themselves as "AT&T," would likely leave a vague message tempting you to call back (in my experience, the most sneaky debt collectors will say stupid things like "I have something of yours," "I have some news for you," "I have an important message for you," etc.), and would obviously instruct you to call back a different number and would not instruct you to visit the AT&T website.
For example, this is the detailed voicemail AT&T left me:
"Hi, this is AT&T calling about your U-verse high speed internet service.
This is a reminder that your U-verse high speed internet service will be active by: (Time, Day, and Date)To install your equipment, please follow the instructions in the self-installation guide included in the box with your new equipment.
If you are a current AT&T customer who is upgrading your internet service,
then you'll experience limited down-time of your telephone line and internet service
Your telephone service will be restored automatically.
You'll need to connect the equipment provided in your self-installation kit to restore your internet service.
If you have not received a self-installation kit, or if you have questions, please call
800 288 2020
and ask for "U-verse Tech-support"

- Marilyn MarrWanting to confirm my U-verse appt on 9-12-2012, between 9-11AM.
Thank you
Marilyn - steveThis is a solicitation call from AT&T which is illegal. They get you to call in so they can sell you their service which you do NOT want. They are very unethical in their calls and they don't give a d### about the do not call rules.

- SunnyMy Senior Citizen Parents (heart patients with medical disability) get a call with a rude message from a female voice saying that they are At&T, and THIS IS NOT A SALES CALL. They asked for my senior citizen fathers name, and said that they were calling about his AT&T credit card and without any clear reason or information from a stupid message. My father dose not have an At&T credit card. We phoned back, went thru the maze of prompts to get further details, only to be re-routed to various departments without any reason of call or At&t non sales call to my senior citizen parents home. If AT&T calls again with these abusive calls a formal complaint to FCC and AT&T will be lodged in legal preceedings.

I reluctantly upgraded to u-verse a few weeks ago because they are "switching to a new technology" and I'd be dropped from service if I didn't.
Already changed the hardware out 2wks ago on the appointed date &time for service change.
Not sure what this crap is about. I'm not responding to it. Some ppl on here mentioned phishing. I tend to lean to that theory also.
