called and left no message

They've called here for several years and most of the time there is no one on the other end. Sometimes there is a guy talking Ebonic cursing. Twice in the last three years there has actually been some interactive person on the other end. They are (possibly among other names?)"The Navy Veterians Association" and they have a web site: http://www.navyvets.org/id63.html They have a telephone number that actually works on the site if you call during normal hours. This is just another bogus non-profit association set up to get your well intended money. You would be lucky if 1% of your contribution actually went where you intended. When you read the site, they have a raft of patriotic bla bla to make them sound official when in reality it is just a scam. When you confront them they try to assure you how legit they are.

The Same thing's been happening to me. I answered the phone once and they said they were from the Navy Vets, too.  Now I just don't answer the phone when the number shows up, but they do call several times a day.  Is there anything that can be done?

A man asked for my husband and I said he wasn't available and he just hung up on me.  Very rude.

THEY CALLED MY HOUSE 7:15 PM ASKED FOR ME , I TOLD HIM THAT IM NOT AVAILABLE , HE TOLD ME THIS IS A COURTESY CALL AND HE WILL CALL BACK LATER .HUNG UP .

I received a call this morning on my business line and they left no message,
It showed on my caller ID as "Short Stop Cand". I have no idea what that is, but I do know that this number previously belonged to a US Navy Veteran. I wonder if someone hasn't discovered a listing of retired Navy vets and is attempting to cash in by fronting as a cause with a common interest.

Called today asking for Ms. (real last name)  I said she wasn't in and could I take a message - She said no and hung up. Comes up as unknowm name on caller ID. BEWARE!

1-800-293-8606 is a loan company for a student loan firm i am trying to find out where so that i may take legal matters.

I received a call, but no message was left on my answering machine.  One of the previous entries mentioned that these are commissioned sales people who call from this number.  To a salesman, time is money.  You may want to do as a friend of mine always does:  when you answer and they ask for Mr. xxxxx, respond, "Hold on, I'll get him," then put the phone on Hold for as long as it takes.  They'll eventually get the message.

Called several times and do not leave messages. Very annoying! I am on the Do Not Call List! So why are they calling?

Called at 8:13pm et, April 30, 2007.  No one said anything after I answered, just hung up.  Our number is about 6 months old and it is unlisted as ours.

I had my husband answer.  The guy asked for me, my husband asked who was calling and the guy just gave his name, Scott, he wouldn't say what company he represented or anything.  Made it sound like a personal call, like he was trying to hide something!  He was very rude and ended up hanging up.  The same thing happened about a week later, same guy... this time my husband gave me the phone, and then he told me he was looking for donations, when I told him that I couldn't, he kept prodding... saying that I must be able to send just $10!  I told him I couldn't and to take me off their list and he hung up while I was still talking!!
