Got a call from this number on 6/25/08, have no idea why???

This is actually from Penske Truck rental.  If you went to their web page and entered information to get a quote, this is their Customer Service calling to help you if you need assistance booking.  They left a message which is how I figured this one out.

Penske... I went online, they were following up, no worries

I got a call and a message from Penske too --- as I'd been on their system the day before. Reasonable idea to courtesy-call, but 10.50 on a Sunday morning is a little weird! Maybe they reckon (correctly) that I'd be in work and not answering in weekday work-hours. Still, at least it's not some crazed politician. Way too much money spent on elections in this country!

I had not made a request with Penske; however, when calling them back reguarding the error they were very gracious in deleting my number from their system.

Call to business cell looking for renter 'Keith Smith'. They identified themselves as Penske Rental and want to follow up with an internet rental request. Similar to the other posts,.. just plain weird ! Maybe a central telemarketing call center,.. next month they'll be selling magazines & vacuums.

Called looking for a Bob Smith... similar to other posts listed.  They did not identify themselves

I had to laugh at previous comment. Here is what happens.When a customer call Penske asking for a quote, the employee is rquired to put a name in the computer. Very often, to save time, names like Bob Smith or Jon Doe get put in the name field.The same goes for a phone number. Most of the time the Penske rep. makes a number up. The customer gets his quote and goes on his merry way. Then within 24 hours the Penske call center follows up, trying to get you to book a reservation NOT REALIZING that John Doe and Bob Smith are alias/bogus names. I know this because in the past at our rental location the nme John Doe was entered into our computer for a quote. and we put our own stor number in for the quote. About 2 hours later a Penske rep from the call center called asking for John Doe.....and then realized how dumb he sounded. But when employees of Penske start making up random numbers, that's when you guys start getting these calls wondering why the heck are they calling you?! This is a lazy habit that Penske needs to address.

Got a call from Penske Truck Renal this morning for a follow up on an online quote that I inquired about last night.  Nice follow up, but still went with Budget Truck Rental, better price.  U-Haul is highway robbery.

Got a call from this number on my cell phone. Never have given my number and was about a truck rental. Funny since i have not requested any quotes about any truck.  Telemarketing at its best!

Just got a call from this number at 6am on LABOR DAY - a Federal Holiday. I have not ever in my life contacted Penske. I did not answer.

This is Penske.  I requested an online quote and they called me that evening.  Reserved a truck and even saved 30%!  She was really nice and actually had a personality (unlike some customer service representatives I have contacted in the past with other companies).

It's Penske. I wanted an idea of a price and in order to get a quote, they ask for your phone number. I should have put a fake one because, I thought... they're going to call me and my daughter is not moving until many months from now...I wasn't really in the mood to have to explain to someone about my daughter's moving situation when it is months away. But, sure enough they did call.  I guess it could be considered good business, because after all, they're only trying to help you. LOL!! I shouldn't be in such a hurry, and just take a minute to tell them what the deal is and that I just wanted to see what prices were for next year.  I can probably look forward to them calling me back in the Spring every week going, "Are you moving this week?"  "How 'bout this week?"  "This week?"  I need to lighten up and stop being so annoyed. It's not easy!  HAHA
