    Government Actions

On February 13, 2013, John Sours, Administrator of the Governor's
Office of Consumer Protection for the state of Georgia, announced that Naviss LLC entered
into a settlement with the agency. The St. Louis, MO based company,
which markets vehicle service contracts to consumers nationwide, is
alleged to have disseminated misleading direct mail solicitations and
misrepresented material terms of its vehicle service contracts to
    Georgia consumers.

In the settlement of this matter, Naviss has signed an Assurance of
Voluntary Compliance, requiring it to pay a $25,000 civil penalty,
$25,000 for investigative expenses and approximately $25,000 in restitution
to be paid to the Georgia's Governor's Office of Workforce
Development's Education Foundation, for use in funding auto repair
    training programs.

What government actions does BBB report on?
    Advertising Review

In October 2013, Better Business Bureau challenged a mail advertisement distributed by this company concerning misleading statements, "Notification that your factory warranty or extended service contract is expiring or has currently expired," and "Extremely urgent and time sensitive."

BBB pointed out that the Code of Advertising states, "An advertisement as a whole may be misleading although every sentence separately considered is literally true. Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statement but by omitting or obscuring a material fact."

In addition, according to the Missouri state statute 15 CSR 60-7.020 (1): "A seller shall not make a representation or statement of fact in an advertisement that is false or has the capacity to mislead prospective purchasers."

The company has not agreed to modify or substantiate its advertisement.

The supervisor I spoke to at VSC Administration verified that they are a division of Naviss LLC.

    Thanks for the link.
Nice to see they're serving time.
    Although they've  probably stashed
    millions off-shore....and will make
    themselves scarce upon release.

You are correct about the new guys
picking up the scam.  Money to hard
to resist.  Feds will probably play
    Wac-a-Mole forever with these scammers.

I got one of these. When is the government or postal inspector going to take action against these people?
