Well spoken!  I have been a member of Navy Federal since the 1980s.  I wouldn't go to any other place for banking.  It is a great organization and only call if you are delinquent on payments.

The statement above this is false. apparently this IS a navy federal credit union number because I called the customer service line and they confirmed that a legitimate Navy Federal representative had contacted me and why.

This is very aggravating. Something weird is going on. Apparently some people have had a bad experience with Navy Fed. I have never in 10 years.

I got a call from this number. I usually don't get calls like this from them but I guess this just means I was REALLY past due on a payment. They asked for my first and last name and the LAST 4 of my social, not the whole thing. It seemed weird to me so I called 1-888-842-6328 (their customer service line) and told them I got a call from the 1-800 number we are talking about and they were able to tell me the name of the person who called and why and confirmed it was legit.

So I don't know why people are saying this number is a scam AND why NavyFed are a bunch of crooks or whatever. The people I speak to everytime are nice and helpful. I think people that are so angry here in their comments are angry when they speak to NFCU reps on the phone and maybe don't understand how banks work.

If they call you asking for personal information it is more than likely a phishing scam and their number has been spoofed as referenced on their own website. They will never ask for personal information (PIN numbers, SS#, etc.) by phone, text or email.

There is usually an uptick in these scams during the holiday season and through the new year. They try to aggressively bully people into sharing information when they are most vulnerable. Take special care not to share your information. ALWAYS call the numbers on your card or statement. Happy Holidays and be careful.

I agree! Cut up your credit cards! Get out of debt! Don't hire illegals!   However, this number IS for a legitimate "military-only" credit union. They serve many members around the world. Occasionally, they get a phone number recorded wrong and end up calling someone they didn't intend to. Confirm the number they called, inform them they have the wrong number, and move on. They are not scamming you.

Okay, while this post was not very professional, I must inform you all that Navy Federal (being a military-supporting business) often hires military spouses. Many members of the military find love over-seas and marry people who are not from our country. The poor spelling and grammar is not a lack of education, it is an attempt at using a second language. How many languages do YOU know?

I'm sure, after they made that post over 5 years ago, they will soon just pop in and answer your question.

Seriously, between you and the "slaves" kook posting replies to posts going back to 2008, neither are making yourselves look good.

Navy Federal does not follow correct guidelines when trying to reach people who are in default.  They are not supposed to harass people at their place of employment.  Navy Federal has repeatedly called our place of business looking for an employee.  We as a company have asked Navy Federal on more than one occasion to not call our place of business, not to tie up our phone lines and not to leave repeated voicemails on our business lines, but instead to reach that person at their home number or personal cell number.  Once again, I have called Navy Federal as a representative of my Company and spoke with a person at Ext. 73478.  This person then decided it was o.k. to ask me to do his job for him and relay the messages they were leaving to the employee.  I politely declined, but my head almost spun around as I do not consider this professional on any level or for their lack of consideration in regards to legitimate business practices.
