I got this call from 1118003474934 but ID said "not available". In any event, both the 11 and the "not available" trigger my phone block inputs.  Pretty sure it's a scam call. It doesn't ring, just registers on my phone:)

Unsolicited call from "Citicard".  Asked for last 4 digits of ss# then asked for the entire #.  Hung up.

received this call, but it was preceded by 111 and therefore didn't get through.  The 800-347-4934 is a legitimate call from the bank giving a code to change a password.

It’s the Citicard Claims Department. They are researching some questionable purchases on my card. They must have dialed you by mistake. It’s legit.

I have Sprint, the name database is wrong for at least them, and perhaps other carriers.  If it says Synchrony, it isn't and that's not Synchrony or Citi's fault. When a call comes from this number and you're expecting the call, it may say Synchrony but it's really Citi — and technical understanding of how the caller name database works with telephone carries will have you understand you're making much ado about nothing.

In regards to these Spammers, I agree. All numbers calling should by law have to say the company name, in my opinion. It's sick how many calls we get. Looks like you do too! And I agree, BLOCK and good riddance!

This # just called my home 4x bk to bk & it came up on caller I'd as Synchrony Bank but when I ans it was automated call saying CitiBank (which I dont have)ab a code & asking for   my social or cc# & of course  I wasn't giving that so I waited for a person whom stated he was Johnathan w/citibank. He asked for my info, I td him I wasn't giving it & I didn't have card w/them & that this was a scam or case of identity theft. He sd he was calling from the phillipines & I td him this would be reported. So why did it come up as synchrony but ans as Citibank? From my research they are not affiliated. Def a scam call!

I received a call from this number. Caller ID indicated Synchrony Bank, so hubby passed the phone to me. Recorded message said this was Macy's calling because my account was past due. I hung up because -- My account was not in arrears, And, Macy's doesn't use Synchrony Bank for billing purposes!

You have to log into the BANK system to get a Virtual Account Number (so, you are already a verified user) then this happens:  There is a popup screen during the online procedure to secure a virtual account number which locks the screen and demands a security code that can only be retrieved by allowing their auto-phone system to verbally call your number.  When you click to request the code# be sent (the first time), nothing happens, no phone call to your number.  So now you are given "an alternate method" which is to call their 800 number to validate yourself.  You call the 800 number and it all sounds legitimate because you are trusting the SOURCE is the provider of 800 number given. (was it your bank?? heck no, it's the SCAMMER).  They ask for your SS#, or your Account#, or some other info.  If instead, you choose to speak with a live agent, they will transfer the call to their live agent but no one ever answers the call. You wait and wait and wait.  A message comes on repeatedly for as long as you hold the line open, over and over again, saying all agents are busy.....  yada yada yada.  So, after 7 or 10 minutes you hang up and call back.  This time, so that you don't get that long wait situation, you give them something the SCAMMERS want because that will allow the phone system to call your number and deliver the digits (verification code) that they give you to unlock the screen with.   You enter the verification code into the locked screen on your computer and it releases the screen and let's you continue the process of getting BACK TO the virtual account number completion screen(s).  You think everything is okay, but it's not okay.  The SCAMMERS have your private important personal information.   You have the virtual account number.   They Win, You Lose.   Isn't Tech Progress Grand?????   This happened to me.

Caller ID said "Synchrony Bank."  It was CitiBank giving me a numeric code that I had to enter while I was online creating a virtual credit card number.  It was verifying that my request is legitimate, not someone else accessing my account.  Evidently, the number is legitimate.
