- SCAM ALERT replies to Clear upDefinitely a scam, and the people who get on this board to give account of how legit this company is are in on it...be careful and just wait for the written letter they have to legally send to you in order to collect. Again, all the different posts describing how legit this company is, are from the same scammers posting as different consumers to confuse people and lead them to believe this is actually a legit company. SCAM ALERT!
- SCAM ALERTDefinitely a scam. Be careful people, and just wait for the letter that has to legally arive shortly after the first contact. You will probably never receive one from this scammers. And all the posts on this board claiming to have had legitimate business with this company are the scammers themselves trying to keep people confused. THIS IS A SCAM ALERT -CALL CLARK HOWARD AND HE WILL VERIFY THIS!

- skeptic 2I too received a phone call today from 000-000-0000. They left a #1-800-355-2470. I called, when I talked to someone, she said that the hospital did not take all my information. I said, I never give out ss #'s and birthdate over the phone. Curtly she said "then you'll have to wait for a paper billing". That I will do. The clincher is that my husband, too, had been in the emergency room about 3 mo's prior to myself. She could not say if it was him or me. They had your phone #, why not your name??? I called the hospital and they had never heard of this company. NEVER, EVER give out personal information over the phone. Wait for a paper billing. If they want your money they will let you know one way or another! Better to be safe. Who calls from #000-000-0000, gives you a number to call, then wants YOUR personal information??? FYI, all my deductibles were paid up front, could not be a debt collector. I did not give an address for a billing either.

- scottThis bill came to me on paper titled health insurance claim form though I have no health insurance.
The address says Philadelphia but my er visit was in Virginia so I suspect the address is fake.
My bill was from a doctor walking in a room and giving me a scrip for 12 pills and another scrip for 14 pills that I could have bought over the counter.
He also examined 3 xrays and the bill was 1,179 dollars.
People in america need to take a stand against these very overpriced medical charges that force many Americans into bankruptcy.
Why is america the only large country in the world without free healthcare for all citizens?- Call type: Debt collector

Seems to me someone is trying hard to provide red tape in case of an inquiry, though I could be wrong. They are calling well before a first bill is received. I have no idea what Trans Pecos is but the second website shows a Dallas, Texas phone number tied to an "Authorized" person - 214 area code. The company is said to be physically in Odessa - over 352 miles away from Dallas but the mailing address is in Philadelphia, PA. In either case, fake or not, it is either a poor attempt to do legitimate business or an ignorant attempt to look legitimate. I would suggest you Google the doctor's name: JOSEPH H. GATEWOOD. To me this simply provides more fuel to the "not so sure about this one" fire.

- AE replies to BuzzYep! Scam! Don't give them any information! And it wouldn't hurt to pull and check your credit too.
- JeanReceived a call from this company. Claimed they are service providers and I am to call about an ER visit. I do not know, or care if this is a scam. This is the number that showed up on caller id. 10000000000. Then the message left this number, 800 355-2470.
To me, its a scam.- Caller: service providers
- JeanIf this is NOT a scam, you would know who I am and use my name. Not leave a computer message with a phoney number.
- Fed-UpMessage left on my phone from 000-000-0000. She said Etna had not paid all of my ER visit and I should call 800-355-2470. I don't have that insurance company and I don't return calls that I know nothing about. When I get calls like this and answer they don't say anything. They wait until they an leave a message
- skeptic replies to Clear upI believe, if you worked for an 'attorney's' office, you would have known to use the article 'an' before ER rather than 'a'. So this confirms, to me, this is a scam and your post is a distraction.
- AveryI get a call from 1-000-000-0000 on my cell phone. I reject it. It goes to my mailbox as they left a message. The mailbox has 1-805-637-7243 on it. I listen to message and lady says she's from Emergency Billing, blah, blah and to call 1-800-335-2470. When I get calls like this or from numbers I don't know, I use the house phone to call them back. And visa versa with house phone I use cell phone to call them back. If I don't find out who it is, I revert to the internet.
You all have confused me even more. The thing is, I have not been to any emergency room in years. My house phone is in one state and my cell phone in another state, cross country, Minnesota and Nevada. SCAM OR NOT, I don't know yet. But this not the only goofy call I have been getting on both phones. WISH YOU ALL LOTS OF LUCK. - Vivian replies to BuzzThis isn't a scam. I got this phone number from the hospital I recently visited for a mva checkup as the physician billing company.
- DisrespectedI work in Health Care industry since 1998. There is no way in the world that an Insurance or billing company does not know the Doctor information, the insurance information that was used at the Hospital or MDO. This is a big scam. Do not give any information, block the number and make a complain with your phone company or either police,.
- Caller: No name
- Pissed Off Patient! This is NOT a scam! This phone number was provided to me by my insurance company, and by the hospital I was seen at. The reason most of you are getting responses from the hospital saying that it is a scam, is because when you go to the emergency room, depending on who your doctor is, you'll end up having to different bills. One for the hospital and one for the actual doctor that came in. It's stupid if you ask me. I don't know why I personally had two bills totaling $1682.50 for me to walk in there with horrifying back pain, have to wait an hour after the doctor came in and poked around my back, just to get a prescription for Hydro's and Ibuprofen. But that complaint is a different story for a different day.
As for Provider Services, this is the billing company for the doctor. I found this out the hard way. It first started off with me getting a call from a collection agency. I was livid! As somebody who has been working for almost 4 years to get my credit score up, I didn't know how to react. I didn't believe it! I called the hospital, they like many others didn't know what I was talking about. Saying that I had a $0 balance. After speaking with the debt collection office, they said that this was a bill specifically from the DOCTOR! I was still skeptical of course! So, I called the hospital back and told them that as well, and they provided me with the 1-800-355-2470. I also called my insurance company to see if they had the phone number I should be calling, and also gave me the 1-800-355-2470.
Now as for a comment about this office, they are just horrible! I want them to get paid, just as much as they appear to want to get paid! Due to a miscommunication with my parents about who was going to be paying for my health insurance, I purchased my own, and my mom also purchased insurance for me as well. Long story short, her insurance deductible was met, mine was not. Every other bill that I had that year was submitted to my insurance, applied to my deductible, and then was submitted to my mom's insurance, was actually paid. Those bills being other times where I needed medical attention, and also the bill that was sent out by the hospital for this same date of service!
I've tried corresponding with them by phone, and by email and they just can't seem to get it together! I've explain this situation to many different people, until I was blue in the face. I've asked them many times to just send the claim into my mom's insurance, provided them with that information, and they keep sending it back to my insurance! It is very frustrating. Now, they are sending me letters and emails stating that if I don't start making at least a $10 payment each month, they will have to take further action! Oh please! I've done all the leg work here! I've even called my insurance company to see if they could just manually submit the bill from my insurance to my moms insurance, since it is after all, the same company!
I just got off the phone with another rep, and I told her straight forward, you guys will not get paid unless you submit the claim to the correct policy. She took all of the information she needed to submit it, and she then told me that this claim was never sent into my moms insurance. I have been told that it has been, not once, but MULTIPLE times!

- MeI DO NOT answer calls from "unknown. +0000000000. They left a msg. stating this was re: a recent visit to the Emergency Services Dept., and to "please call our Provider Services Department at 800-355-2470". I HAVE NOT HAD a recent visit to an ER, and I received this call on my cell phone, which has a number from a different state. When doing business, I ONLY use my home phone number, so I can only guess that this is a SCAM! If it were a legitimate call, they would only have my home number, and, as I said before, I have not visited any Emergency Department. Again, I can ONLY GUESS THAT IT IS A SCAM!
- mackieCaller purporting to represent some ER services place left message saying the insurance company (Aetna) hadn't paid its part for a recent ER visit, and to call this number. As a matter of fact, there was a fairly recent ER visit. Another fact: We do have insurance but not with Aetna--and never have had. So either the caller stumbled miserably with her job, or it's a scam.

- DerekThey called me from 000-000-000 they called several times I finally answered and they ask me where to send bill to me or insurance. This was a car accident. I said send it to me insurance will reimburse me.

- nlaup001Received many calls over the past few days as a result of the wrong area code being input by a hospital in Broward County, FL. I'm not female and have NEVER been in South Florida, much less Broward County. Called the hospital and NCO back just to let them know the correct area code, and that I don't appreciate the continued harassment after giving them this information SEVERAL times.

- Luther| 4 repliesThis is NOT a scam, although the company seems to go out of its way to make you suspicious.
The company, Service Providers, is a hospital subcontractor. The hospital sees you, then a couple of weeks later Service Providers calls to confirm your insurance. Why they need to do this, I have no idea. In addition, Service Providers refuses to leave a message the first few times they call. Even better, they call from "0000000000", which any reasonable person is going to think is a scam.
When I finally called back, the person explained that this was a "courtesy call" to confirm that my insurer of record was correct. I don't know what's courteous about that, but whatever. The person who answered knew my insurer's name, which leads me to believe that they're in communication with the hospital I visited. Still, there's no earthly reason why they need to "confirm" anything, especially since I haven't even received a hospital bill yet.- Caller: Service Providers
